      Not true, mid to late 90s was literally the slowest ever. Knicks specifically this season were one of the slowest teams in the league. The Finals were even slower the average pace this season but I will say to your point Game 1 was the fastest game by pace in the whole series at around 93 possessions and the rest of the series was well under 90 so relatively this was a 'faster' game by 90s standards. Today's league (last 5 seasons) has about 98-100 possessions per 48 minutes. Funny enough the 80s were faster and the 70s even faster

      That's because they were in the conference where it was more difficult to get to the finals consistently. Plus they were a lower seed in the postseason more often which made the odds of them winning the West even tougher, this was the last time they even won their division with Rudy Tomjanovich they never won it with Drexler and Barkley when he joined later on.

    At the intro, I was surprised to hear Bob Costas say that Houston was heavily favored against New York. I don't remember this matchup like this, but as an almost completely balanced finals series - even before it started. The Knicks had 57-25 and the Rockets just 58-24, and the previous two years, New York had given the most trouble the Bulls ever had in the first 3-peat, while Houston was just a 2nd round team that never had a 60 wins season or reached the conference finals since 1986. Also, the Knicks had a difficult playoff run, as he said, but the Rockets had a hard run too. They won Utah in 5, but in the 2nd round, they beat Phoenix only in 7, after being 0-2. So, Bob Costas, you seem somewhat biased there in 1994 .:)

      @pomerlain8924 Рік тому +1

      The Rockets had beaten the Bulls during their 3-peat years 5 out of 6 times, and they also had better shooters and Hakeem was as dominant as ever. And also, let's not forget that these 94 Knicks benefitted from Hugh Hollins calling a foul on Scottie Pippen well after the ball had left Hubert Davis' hands in Game 5 of their second round series, as it looked like history would repeat itself. And then the Knicks had to rally from 3-2 down against the Pacers in the conference finals.

      @sotiriosdrokalos Рік тому

      @@pomerlain8924 The Rockets beat the Bulls in regular season games, and then in 1991 they got swept by the Lakers in the 1st round, in 1992 they didn't even make the playoffs, and they were contenders only in 1993 but still lost in the 2nd round to the Sonics. In 1994 they had their best season, yet only no.2 seed in the West, and 3rd in the league. The Knicks had two hard series, and benefited of a call, but also the Rockets had a hard series with Phoenix, and benefited of the Sonics' stupidity, who were the best in the league with 63-19 and failed to close the Denver series. Anyway, I didn't say Bob Costas overrated Houston, which was indeed a great team, but that he underrated New York, as the series itself would prove.
