  • NBA Finals Orlando Magic at Houston Rockets, June 14, 1995
    At the end of the first half, the Magic had a 4-point advantage of the home team, Rockets. However, the Rockets have another notable comeback as they outscored the Magic 66-50 in the second half, thus winning their second consecutive NBA championship. Olajuwon outscores O'Neal by 10 points and caps off the sweep by hitting a memorable yet uncharacteristic 3-pointer in front of O'Neal.

    there were a couple of games that were ONLY won because of Drexler keeping his cool in these clearly chaotic, turnover filled melees.
    His ability to pop jumpers , or create and power to hoop at will, when it was most needed, his ball handling, quiet confident leadership, experience, off the scale basket ball IQ (when to do what), d, rebounding, passing. . He played first tier , all time NBA superstar level basketball. They completely depended on him to step up, as the Warriors did when Durant did in game 4 back when. I don't see how anybody can knock Drex or Durant. They were so good, It's not like Charles Barkley didn't fuck up MANY MANY TIMES and give it away and fail with his bad lifestyle habits and inability to deliver the goods, and adapt to what was needed in the moment.

    Man that Magic team coulda been so damn good though. Even Shaq admits Penny wouldn’t have been injured had he not left. Penny’s knee injury was not one that was inevitable. You just can’t heal it once it happens, and it happened because Penny was filling a role he wouldn’t have been filling if Shaq was there.
    I think they were a better duo than him and Kobe personally. Their games complimented each other more

    This is the most iconic and memorable NBA Finals of the 90s. It is fascinating to know the Houston Rockes can be considered a super team (with a great coach in the name of Rudy Tomjanovich) that year. The Chicago Bulls even when Jordan came back was eliminated by the Orlando on the Eastern Conference Finals, which eventually Orlando Magic 🎩 won 🏆that made them to this historic finals.
    Moreover, Orlando has the worse coaching during this NBA Finals which I believed could have been different in contrast to the Orlando Magic's complete, talented, and younger line-up.

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 10 місяців тому

      Brian Hill did a pretty good job throughout the postseason that year. The Rockets had a more versatile low post player that could also go out to the perimeter and stretch the floor, that along with the Rockets having a stretch PF it was a pretty difficult matchup for the Magic in general.
      He gets criticized more for the lopsided ecf series the following year, and while the Magic having such a predictable set offense was definitely glaring they also had injuries which made it impossible for them to have a chance in the first place. The series was more or less over after Grant nearly got his arm broken in G1 by G3 their top reserve was injured too.

      He actually admitted on multiple occasions he was glad the Rockets didn't win the West more often because they were the most difficult matchup for the Bulls. Their defensive scheme was usually effective on traditional low block players that pushed their way towards the basket which would've been a different story with the Rockets. One if the big factors in the Rockets beating the Magic so convincingly was them having more movement in their offense by stretching the floor a lot while the Magic on the other hand couldn't do it as often with Shaq standing around in the paint the majority of the time. The Bulls saw how the Rockets were defending the Magic throughout the series and pretty much duplicated it the following year when they had the personnel to pull it off.

      Bulls was ready for the 2nd 3 peat and they killed Orlando in the ECF.

    Jordan’s the GOAT 🐐…. And I’m glad he retired 94/95 (came back late 95) . Cause if he stayed,,his legacy could of had some FINALS L’s
    Any one can google or UA-cam the stats with Bulls vs Rockets from 1991 thru 1993 …. And you’ll see that they wouldn’t of won … the Bulls became dominant when they got Rodman… and 1996 the Bulls finally overcame the Rockets ….
    But Jordan’s still the GOAT 🐐

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 10 місяців тому

      The Bulls wouldn't have gotten out of the East in 95 with Kukoc at the PF position regardless. The Rockets also were a better postseason team compared to the regular season which their 95 championship run showed, they actually weren't a top 4 seed in the West that often of the time throughout the era w/Rudy Tomjanovich because they were injury prone usually.

      Penny and Horace Grant both played up to their usual standard along with Shaq. Penny averaged 25.5 ppg and 8 apg while Grant averaged a double double (13.5 ppg/12 rpg). The Rockets were simply a difficult matchup for them Shaq had to actually play 1 on 1 defense where he was getting in foul trouble he was used to roaming around most of the game with his center matchup not being the focal point of the offense. Also both him and Horace Grant had to leave the paint a lot to go out and defend which the Rockets took advantage of most of the time.

      Easily, if MJ was in shape they would have absolutely destroyed the rockets, Just because hakeem has a winning record over Jordan in the regular season does not mean he can beat him in the finals, MJ faced very tough and physical teams in the east, the bad boys pistons and knicks were bruisers on defense, MJ averaged 45 ppg vs boston, be would destroy the overrated rockets

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 2 роки тому

      @@user-jm7mm4lo7o The Rockets had the most diverse system in the league where they relied more on team ball rather than a PG to run the offense that's actually the reason they were such a difficult matchup in the first place.

      Shaq got about as many touches as he would normally get. The big difference was he actually had to play 1 on 1 defense in this series where he was getting in foul trouble rather than just roaming around most of the game which is what he was used to doing.

    I want to love basketball the way I used to. Everything about the game now is worse. From the way the game flows, the rules, the philosophy, the politics...all of it. I really wish I could love the game the way I did back in these days. It was just basketball. It was the dream and the glyde. Stevie franchise. T-mac and Yao...
    Now it's a bunch of politics, a bunch of highlight plays without defensive effort.
    Did you see how far behind the magic were, not to mention down 3-0 in the series? They fought to the buzzer. That is the game I remember, and that's the game I loved. That game is gone...it's a bunch of 7 footers throwing up 3's from 10 feet behind the line, isolation, and traveling 4 extra steps to dunk on, well, to dunk on nobody because the center is 30 feet away from the basket.
    I'm all for guys knocking down 3's. I'm all for progress and the evolution of the game, but the way the game is played now is not fun to watch. It just isn't. I've tried and tried...there's no ball movement and no physicality. It's just guys shooting 3's and trying to do things to look cool. That isn't a game, that's a show off contest.
    Sorry for the rant. Call me boomer if you want. But the electricity in the building speaks for itself. This was a better product and far more fun to watch.
