Sometimes those old motors just have to be run and they will come back around and the power will come back as the rings free up oil change, and some new plugs and may be a carb rebuild and some spark plug wires and you’ll be surprised how much life it has in it
The Big Block Chevy runs good. Yeah the the that RV weighs a ton is why it feels slow I’d clean the tank and fuel lines and then put a good electric fuel pump back at the tank to push the fuel to your factory fuel pump. I can’t believe that it has headers and dual exhaust don’t know how far the exhaust goes back but I would shorten them some I’d say measure the exhaust from the header collector back about 30 inches and cut the rest off and put mufflers. The more you cut the body off to lighten it the more power you’ll gain back. Change the oil and filter with 10w30 Castrol high mileage synthetic blend oil and a WIX Filter. Spark plug I’d go with a AC Delco R45TS plugs and new set of plug wires would help. On the Quadrajet the rear median rods for more fuel find a set of the AX median rods to dump more fuel in the rear barrels. Hope this helps you out.
I had a 30 footer with a 454,. So stressful to drive, until you're out on the highway where you can just cruise it like a boat. She hated hills though. Funnily enough, when I first got her she had the same brake hang issue, but I didn't cool it off in time and the caliper fused to the disc on the passenger side and I barely made it home.
Yep, the EPA denutted 454's badly. Still a bit torquey to pull the weight with the peanut port heads but the like stopping at every gas station with about 5-6mpg in that thing. If you're doing that good, that's about right. Put some Marvels Mystery Oil in the crankcase, or Lucas and just let it run. It'll take time to do it's job, but I have a feeling it'll help a bit over time due to it sitting for some long.

There are plenty of safety nut jobs out there that will ride you for safety squints or not wearing a respirator when you paint, that's not me. I will however say what the actual f*ck, never get under a giant piece of shit without load rated jack stands. It wants to kill you, try to take away as many chances of it doing that as you can. If you're going to make a wedge ramp truck on the back of that for hauling junk. Keep the big tank, just maybe drop it and clean it all out. I bet there's sludge roaming around in it.

There was a recall around that time . Fuel filter would pull vacume and engine would loose prime ?
A 650 isn't big enough for a 454 more like 750 800+ cfm and that's Kenny not butters good luck 👍
You will get between 8-10 mpg you will need a 100 gallon tank. If you cut the back off you will be sorry!!

That pump was not the original generator pump it was a generic style pump from a parts store so it had plenty to run that 454
