If you did a show with GFR you had to out play them. Another thing they played cover songs and made it there own. What did they do not to be in the Hall?
That bass guitar.... it just carries this song to new heights of rock'n'roll greatness ! Real musicians playing real instruments with raw emotion.. the way it was meant to be !!
My Favorite band growing up in the late sixties into the seventies...I owned every album. Mark is one of the most talented musicians to ever walk onto a stage. anywhere, in any genre.
i had just turned 16yrs old, living in the uk hardly anyone had heard of them, i heard 1track...mean mistreater and bought the album, the second album i ever bought...woodstock was the first...montrose was my fifth....great bands..i was pretty fuckin cool then ....and it,s still in my loft lol
Right now we gonna take a step back, and we gonna dedicate this song. We gonna dedicate this song to all you people puttin that funky smell into the air.
First vinyl walked off, second melted n wobbled in heat of Phx travel then found third vinyl n bought minus the pull out poster. Grrrr. Such a fun n good on real tube amp stereo of audiophile brother, so yes I dig!
J&B Fix it shop I thought the same thing when I saw them in 1971. Just three guys and 80K watts of kick ass rick and roll! I thought there were people off stage playing too.
This live version was not on the "red" album. It was on the Live Album from 1970. The red album was released 1 year before in 1969. BTW, this song is a cover of the song by the Animals.
Wore this album out with my strobe light stoned headphones on, lol loved it! What a raw rockin album. Not even in print anymore from what I understand. boom- peh- boom- peh- boom -peh trippin it seems like it goes on foreva! Even the Studio version is hot! I used to walk around the beach playing this on 10 with my portable cassette player and the chicks loved it. Lol After this album, every guitar player had to have a big muff and fuzz box and every rock bass player played a Fender Jazzmaster. with big bottom sound cranked on 10
Possibly the greatest live song by any power trio.... That lead bass has not been re-produced by anyone....To think that Mark and Don were 20 and Mel was 19 when this was recorded is unbelievable!
my life is dedicated to the great Rock'n'Roll !!! nowadays he is a bit sleepy but it's gonna come back strong , wipe the vileny and save the world !!HAAAAAAAA YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!

It's why they were voted the top live band in the U.S. in the 70s and outsold the Beatles faster at Shea stadium and the people loved em , the industry not so much and the last thing they wanted was 7 min instrumental hence why they out with shit like the locomotion ...
it's unfortunate that most folks who hear GFR get captain or american band cuz that's all their radio has played for years, this whole album (all four sides) rips! SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK!
One of the best songs they ever did! I used to listed to this back in 1976-77 and I could listen to this all day. Classic Rock at it's finest!!!!!!!
