Grand Funk Railroad in 1971 was the first concert I attended. I remember them being billed as putting out 80,000 watts of sound and I believed it. Every time Don Brewer hit that bass drum it was like getting kicked in the chest. My ears didn't work properly for a week and I couldn't wait to see them again when they returned the following year. I saw them again in 1974 and 75. To this day they remain my favorite rock band.
One of greatest high energy rock bands ever .. & one of the most underrated ones. They served as opening act for the great Led Zeppelin at one venue in the U.S. Zeppelin's manger was so intimidated by their performance & the audience crazied response to Grand Funk, that he refused to let Zeppelin follow them!!!!! Needless to say that was the first & last time Grand Funk served as an opening act for Zeppelin. WOW!
they never publish the name of the guest keyboardist i have noticed . you see mark . mel , and don but never the keyboardist but then Alex Lifeson says keyboards are not a real instrument anyways lmao .
Thanks Marcelo for posting this awesome video and thanks You Tube for no advertisement.
