Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 лип 2023
- With gastropods covered, let's move to our next class within phylum Mollusca, the bivalves. These include clams, oysters, mussels, scallops, and shipworms. What are these organisms all about? What can we say about bivalve aquaculture? And those pearls that certain species create? Let's find out!

My 6 year old enjoyed this, even though much of the technical language went over her head, she still got the gist.
I love that we're putting mussels to work, that's so funny to me. Look at it! 3:14 It looks like it's wearing a silly hat, but that's just its work uniform, lol.
This was one of the most fascinating in your series Dave. I had no idea that they had sensate organs like eyes. Makes me want to listen to that Ween album again.
You just forgot one thing about bivalves: They are delicious
Man your channel is worth billions ❤ I don't know how we all can thank you enough for teaching about basically all the real fields.
you've got to be my favorite science youtuber. I'm studying chemistry and you're very inspiring. absolutely love your content and every single video of yours is interesting.
Just ate mussels tonight! I should have watched this first so my family could endure all these amazing facts.
Thank you dave for all you do on here the comtent is helpful and important
Thanks again, Dave. Love me some bivalves.
Awesome educational video once more - please keep them coming - you’re brilliant!!!
my favorite series! thanks!
Great information!
أحب طريقتك في شرح المواضيع😊😊😊😊
Ohhh thank Goddddd it came on timeeeee!!!! I was waiting for it
3:52 Shelder and Cloyster cameo
the water quality testing mussels are my absolute favourite thing
3:12 this is genius 😂
Pretty cool.
"Are released after they serve their time..." 😅 I hope they get rehabilitation on the outside.
Now i want to become a clam farmer
Good
I was waiting for this episode for so long! Let's go shipworms!
Clarification, I know they cause damage to infrastructure, but I find their evolutionary adaptation to surviving on drift wood so fascinating.
Have you ever heard of IMbeggar? He’s a catholic that in my opinion makes really good videos. There’s this one video titled “do god and science contradict each other?” And I was wondering if you can do one of those reaction-style videos like you did with iamlucid on it. It has some very challenging questions and I was hoping you’d help answer them maybe
Salute sir keep informing us, we appreciate.
When you say "raised humanely"....what does that mean when referring to a non-sentient animal? At least I was under the impression that bivalves were not sentient. I would have thought the term 'humanely raised' is reserved for animals who can suffer/feel pain to some degree.
Yeah, I’m interested in that too. My guess is that already being adapted to living in the confines of a shell and having only a rudimentary nervous system makes them difficult to abuse. I’m trying to eat less meat but I actually wouldn’t mind only eating bivalves.
Yeah agreed. Perhaps he’s using the word humane because he’s agnostic about their potential for subjective experience?
Personally I don’t think we have any reason to believe bivalves are sentient
In a previous video, you mentioned that Blade Runner was one of your favorite movies. What are some of your other favorites?
2001: A Space Odyssey is my all time favorite. Plus lots of other Kubrick. Amadeus. Wes Anderson movies. So many that it's hard to think of!
Insist to encyst
Hi
i laughed when i saw that cloyster ahahha

These are not to be confused with brachiopods.
Dave has a cool video on brachiopods if you haven’t seen it.
@@thechosenone5644 it hasn't been released yet, but it will come soon.
SpongeBob showed decent representation!

Yummyyyy
I tried dating one once. My jealously of her being bi caused a rift so I ate her instead.
knowledge is not equal to science K>S
I just found a video that is absolute comedy gold. Here's the title: APM Research: Prof Nigel Cheese "Hands" 1+1=1 The Video. Enjoy.
The comments are quite depressing though.

@@achyuththouta6957 Yeah I know that.
Sir can you please do a video regarding calculating the frictional force of a sphere rolling down an incline.
