These came out so good! Dude it makes me want to make my own custom lights 😍
One could really get creative if they know a bit of 3D printing stuff, how to vapor smooth that or other surface finishing work, then use silicon release molding with optic-clear cast resin and a vacuum or pressure chamber. Sometimes the casting also has to be staged with different dyed sections, if desiring red or amber lenses within a composite assembly. There's spray-on mirror finishes now if vacuum deposition is too complicated or difficult to figure out for any reflector bits. And if knowing a bit of electronics to custom fab LEDs, that could stretch options even further.
Yes it's convoluted, but all those skill sets can be meshed together and applied to this kind of thing if wanting to go yet another level beyond kit-bashing some already existing stuff together. Also it's funny I've seen enough of all those different processes to know what's possible, but still nobody showing it all coming together just yet.

These headlights are the same as the gen 1 mazdaspeed3 right? If it is, then the process would be exactly the same. Correct?
The shape is different, but the process is the same!

Nice. Did custom headlights on my 2nd gen 3 about 2 months ago, and I just love them! All I did was paint the insides black and put 1 pair of round switchback halos in. With my LED switchbacks I already had, it almost looks sequential, as it’s got a slight delay compared to the halos 😂
I wired my halos up to turn on with the ignition so they act as DRLs (which weren’t available from factory in Australia until the 3rd gen), and added a 30A SPDT relay so they turn off with the parking lights/headlights; considering how bright they are, I don’t wanna blind everyone at night. Also, the fuse I tapped into has a 20 second delay after turning the ignition off, which just adds to the looks, and also helps me see where I’m going when getting out of the car at night 😅
Great idea on the wiring side of things, that delay would be sweet for a daily!

Heyo, nothing as crazy as what you're doing, but if I were to buy some housings meant for Halogen bulbs without the HID Ballast Module would I just need to mount that from my current Xenon headlights or is there more that I'm missing?

Did you ever connect the remote starter for the halos? I bought a kit of off aliexpress which has a similar instruction manual as yours and its says fade on/off meaning they turn on when I unlock the car which is quite cool but Im not really sure were I would hook that cable to. I would appreciate any kind of help, keep up the great videos you give me soo many new ideas for my mz3 bk

Bro, i know this a dumb question but for the switchback. Ground wire goes to any metal contact surface of the car? Because there's two wires, does yellow wire go to the signal positive wire, & red goes to headlight positive wire?

I'm planning to do these for mine. What happens when the halo or dlr strip dies out - how do you replace it, do you have to remove the whole cover and redo it? Also do you think wiring would be complicated for a first timer, and is the in-cabin switch necessary? Did your headlights fog up yet? Thanks, Ben
If they die, they die, you do the whole thing all over again.
Wiring isn't complicated, there's lots of help out there too.
Cabin switch is not necessary.
Headlights haven't fogged up, but I also haven't driven the car since.

A lot more mechanics on the housing if you have automatic leveling headlights, and HID's but other then that it's somewhat the same concept I would think
