After looking at many finger style sites/videos, this is the one, and only one, to get me started and make me believe it is possible! Thank you so very much Andy
My very dear sir, I have been teaching adults now for a long time and I must say that I really think you’re an awesome teacher. Keep up the great work. I learned a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all.
How are you able to pick at that angle and not get the scratchy sound from your nail? (Mine are very short) Trying to fix the sound before I practice the technique :)
Excellent lesson! Thank You for the hard work and for providing some valuable insight on getting better at finger-picking... you really cover a lot here! Keep up the great work!!
What enhances your lesson (here and in the others) is your constant emphasis on going over the exercise/s real "slowly"; a fundamental teaching technique.
Thanks. I have a question for you. Your suggested practices (ie. using index finger for 4 string) will mix up my normal way of thumb taking care of 6/5/4 strings and index/middle/ring fingers for 3/2/1 strings respectively. What are your reasons for your suggested finger-picking exercise?
very cool. this helps a bunch. I cant believe that the travis style is the easiest one for me to play. I believe its because its the way you teach it. thanks and God bless
I am not sure if I understood correctly, first I start out veeery slow with no metronome, then once I got the basic coordination down, I can use the metronome, work them up to speed, right? jk great video
Do you have to use the 3 finger technique? Because I normally just use my Thumb and Index Finger(and throw in my middle at times). I find myself playing better playing like that. I was just wondering if the 3 finger technique is that supposed to be the technique to use or can I use the technique I've been using.
Use what works best for you. With more complicated patterns it is nice to have more fingers available, so I would recommend learning to use all 3 and even your pinky at times. :)
I really liked patterns 1 and 2 but 3 made me CRAZY ! Could you please tell us what time signatures these patterns are used for ? Because I think I heard the rolling up and down with a bass note was used for 3/4 times songs like “House of The Rising Sun “ and I’ve learned a couple patterns like the one for “Dust in the Wind “ But I’m not sure how to apply them to different songs or if they are songs with 4/4 timing like the 1st part of pattern 1 = B 321 is for 4/4 songs etc So Great lesson and Thanks ❤️🎸🎶🎯
Can you do me a favor, find the Colombo episode starring Johnny Cash called Swan Song where he plays an instrumental near the end and show how he pays it.Thanks

Could you repeat 12:00 to 12:45? it is not clear. do I play the 3rd string and 5th together?
I love playing the guitar. After awhile playing I get mentally tired 😬

8:25
9:50
12:07
13:50
14:42
Thanks...clear and encouraging
Rolling up, then down, i have to get that down pat first, then i can think about the other ones!
Thank you Nate!

Excellent lesson, thanks very much.
The numbers on the tab confuse the maximum. Please explain if it means the fingers or the strings or the frets.

Charlie West Thanks so much for the lesson! That was very helpful, but sometimes I need you to go even slower.
Nate , on the first lesson i saw you use the thumb for E,A,D strings and index for G middle for B and ring for high E , which is it thanks
In recent few months I see the face of this person more often than some's close relatives. I think I'm falling in love.
So Great Lessons, thank you!
Nate where on Guitareo are all these lessons located?
What? You mean is that simple? Thank you very much
Very helpful!

Which style would be better, folk or classical?
Folk. For sure. :)
I just realized his speaking pattern is similar to Rami Malek. You're a cool dude! :)
I'm very impressed. I'll follow your advice , it's well laid out and thanks!
18mins to watch, yet 18 yrs for me to learn it :)
Nate, isn’t the first pattern 6/8 time? The up and down roll.
Hey Johan, The way it's presented in the lesson is in 4/4 time. If we played it as you described PIMAMI it could be in 6/8
Thank you Nate.
This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to pick up guitar again.
he looks like tom hanks i bit
|Sir, I am interested in learning fingerstyle playing can you assist me. Thanks Andre

You are awesome
thank you for the lesson
looking forward for more fingerstyle tutorials
You're the best!
Super sir
Do you need to know and master all these patterns?
Aren't you supposed to use your thumb for EAD and your index, middle and ring finger for GBE respectively?
Most of the time that's what it works out to be.
You appear to be a cross between Tom Hanks and Henry Cavill but with blond hair.
too fast at first
Thank you! Really helped me.
