  • Mountain Gardens is seeking a director for a nature education center / school currently under construction on a half-acre property located between M.G. and the National Forest (Woody Ridge trailhead at the end of Shuford Creek Road). The facility will include a classroom / library, outdoor kitchen, an airstream trailer to serve as office and residence for the director, and about a dozen simple shelters (huts, lean-tos, tipis, etc.)
We anticipate offering week, two week or even longer classes in Paradise Gardening / permaculture, herbalism, native plant communities and useful plants, wild food harvesting and processing, medicinal herb cultivation, harvesting and processing, etc. We also anticipate renting this facility to herb schools, university classes, garden clubs and other interested groups. The situation is also ideal for nature meditation (forest bathing) and wilderness retreats.
The property is never farmed woodland; we will be making a clearing to allow for photovoltaics and to develop a Paradise Garden / permaculture demonstration featuring particularly wild foods, perennial vegetables and medicinal herbs, both native and Asian; and to provide logs and poles for construction. The work will be done by the students.
The director will oversee and participate in the design and construction of the facility, installation of photovoltaics, water system, humanure, etc. as well as the development of the gardens, nursery, compost making, etc. The creation of the facility will be a large part of the curriculum of the school. The director will participate in the development of the curriculum and teaching, which will be shared with other residents of Mountain Gardens who have, collectively, expertise in all of the various aspects of the program.
All of the income generated will be reinvested in the center; this will include the salary for the director, which will be some to be determined percentage of the income.

I have been trying to start a school of my own as a matter of fact. Mostly in the Herbal farmacy avenue, however I consider myself very astute in the native East coast herbs, as well as some of the Eastern herbs. I think it's very important in "permaculture" to study the herbs, trees and plants that grow in your own area. My email is jbbsbb4ever@yahoo.com if you would like to get in touch. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Mr. Hollis. I was wondering where did you get your background in Eastern and Chinese Herbal medicine? Your knowledge in herbal and permaculture medicine is amazing. Anyone can view your clips and learn to grow herbs, make tinctures and extracts. I grew up in the US but, my parents are Chinese descent. Thank you for sharing and God bless.

This sounds like a dream job to me... But to be perfectly honest, I would have to learn all the plants and native growing techniques though... My specialty is that of the southwest.

Take care of your liver start out gently with bitters. And end up with stronger herbs for the liver don't go straight for the strongest ones use things like dandy-lion and other bitter herbs and then eventually when your liver is feeling better I just forgot the name of the one I wanted to say I shouldn't be on here right now. What's the most common thing people think of when they think of the liver and it should be used last rather than first because it kind of seals up the liver it purges it quickly. You want to be gentle but taking care of your liver seems to take care of your blood pressure and also watch your intake of animal Foods. I've only known one vegan in my life with high blood pressure and I was practicing conventional and herbal medicine. And I tried to tell him it was his liver and he wouldn't listen and a few years later he ended up dying of liver cancer. It was actually 20 years later but he was having liver congestion and that was what was causing this incredibly insane high blood pressure and he was on medication and they couldn't keep it under control no matter what they did and he just wouldn't listen. Milk thistle I just remembered use that last after you have gently clean your liver with dandelion Dock and other bitter roots go to your local herbalist and get yourself Dental Bitters and then after you've done that for quite a while. Then you can use the milk thistle but otherwise you purchased so quickly it's very hard on your body your skin can break out and you can just feel so sick because the liver is definitely congested your liver! I'd love it if you would leave me a message somehow after you've tried this for a while I want to see what happens. Now I know that there are other things that are specifically for high blood pressure but why not go to the deepest source of why it's happening rather than going for the herbs that treat the symptom why not clean out the main problem and see what happens. Give it three months and please leave a message to me and I hope I see it. I may be on a different phone system and up living on a Mountaintop so I wish you all the best and I have treated other people with this and it works. I haven't met you and I haven't set with you so I'm just going by what I know from others but you could have something completely different but it never hurts to clean your liver and take care of it. Also drink lots of good clean water and 8 time every single day 2 go someplace quiet and if you can go outside and sit and be away from everybody and a natural place that's great if you're in the city if you have to just go in the bathroom to be alone go in and light a candle and just sit and let everything go no pun intended but if that's the only time you have use it! Oh I miss doing this. Calm yourself and clean your liver!🐾👣💜🌱🐸
