On March 4, 2022 a devastating fire burned the main building at Mountain Gardens, which housed the apothecary, a library, seeds, garden tools, greenhouses, the solar power system, and so much more.

Volunteers are welcome any day of the week to clean up, and group workdays are on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I got tears in my eyes just listening to Joe. He may not have cried after the fire but it must have broken his heart to see his lifes work all gone..now he has too...I hope his legacy runs on. Oh my heart is just so broken for you! I’m so so sorry this has happened to you! All your books and seeds and tinctures and all of that hard work…. I’m just gutted for you. So sorry this has happened. I don't know that I could be as calm about the loss of my life's work as you appear to be. I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and I hope that you will continue to film as you rebuild. I am donating and encouraging my friends to do so also.
This made me cry, too, Joe. Thank you for posting this and to those who created it. "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone," has been playing in my mind. Mountain Gardens and its herbal medicine resource is a treasure, one I relied on for my Chinese medicine practice. Now, without it, not only am I not able to serve my patients in a way that has been part of their healing path for decades, I also feel a loss spiritually. MG sustains me, even when I don't visit. May the phoenix rise! I'm grateful to all who are helping rebuild!

Found ya this morning in search of info regarding wild ginseng and other plants in Appalachia.. I couldn’t imagine losing so much, and am praying for a swift rebuild for you and yours. I am so sorry to hear and now see this. It truly is heartbreaking. This home was amazing, and I could really feel it when you said the place is perfect in every way. My goal in life is to have a piece of land very similar to this, but with a treatment center close by. I actually have a folder of screenshots from your vids that I save for ideas when I build my place. And you did all that, absolutely nailed it, and then this. I get sentimental very quick about work and projects especially when you put lots time and actual manual labor into it. Times like this it's not so much about the loss of property but more about the memories built up around them.
Stay strong, but I know you are.

I'm in central California and almost lost my house 10 years ago-- I remember driving home from work and seeing a bright orange glow in the distance-- I had to spend the night in a motel-- they gave a discount to anyone displaced by the fire. My empathy in time of trouble.
