    Thanks for posting this! The first video I've found that shows how to clean a popcorn ceiling. Affordable, too! Appreciate it 🙏🏻.

      I've noticed that pure TSP is much more caustic than standard sugar soap. It will irritate your skin quite a lot. You'll definitely want to wear gloves. The discomfort is just not worth it.

    Ohhh that look's so satisfying with each roll just watching it ooze out. Mind you with the cost of cigarettes going through the roof..parden the pun, you may have just washed out $100k of some fine ass Virginia blend goodness. Granted you may need a marketing genius though!

    I'm not sure if there is different kinds but I know I have this very flimsy popcorn ceiling, if I touched it at all, pieces would just crumble off. Would this stuff work on that? Or do you have any suggestions? My late mother's bedroom is covered in dust bunnies and smoke residue and I want to clean it without making the house unsanitary.

    I did this for 5 hours on my nicotine stained ceiling and it made it white again. TSP rocks! It didn't work on my wallpaper though. I'm going to try vinegar for that and see if it works.

    Can't say enough about TSP. It's basically the ultimate cleaner and it's not expensive. But for everyday stuff just use a tiny dilution and always in hot water. Far less than in this video.

      Nicotine will bleed through most primers and definitely paint it will also keeps it from adhering to the wall properly it has to be cleaned off the surface and Kilz puts out a primer that will block nicotine stains but it still must be thoroughly cleaned first I'm definitely going to get some of this stuff too I also bought a scrubbing attachment like a rough sponge that I use on my drill if I go the vinegar and water route it makes it faster but it's still a pain because you have to wipe it down then rinse with water then dry it again so I'm definitely going to try tsp

    Do you have to repaint the popcorn ceiling after doing this treatment? Unsure if there is a chemical reaction that will cause the paint to need repainting. If anyone could help answer this I would greatly appreciate it.

    It honestly looked like you were ruining the ceiling, you could see a lot of the stucco come off. The best way is to just scrape the stucco off with a paint scraper taped to a shop vac then re-stucco the ceiling. It'll cost a lot less and take a lot less time.

    • @Wishmaster333
      @Wishmaster333 8 років тому +4

      Omg I can't believe idiocy of some people. If you even watched the video you could clearly see him damaging the ceiling. Btw I happen to have the exact same ceiling and it's stucco paint which gives the popcorn/textured look. These ceilings can't even be washed with a damp rag. My neighbour made that mistake and ended up needing a new ceiling. Watch the video closely, with each forward stroke you can see the ceiling fall to the floor. In cases with nicotine stains it's better to just scrape off the old and paint with new and cheaper.

    • @Wishmaster333
      @Wishmaster333 8 років тому +2

      I'm not sure where you're from but here we use a simple stucco paint to achieve popcorn ceiling. We don't paint over actually most people don't. My home was built in the early 70's and back then all popcorn ceilings were done with stucco. Just because a person has been in a business for a long time doesn't make them a know it all or expert. Perhaps where you are they call it something different and use something different but here we use stucco. You can't wet it or wash it.

    • @Wishmaster333
      @Wishmaster333 8 років тому

      I never built my home. It would make more sense to add paint or at least paint over it. My ceiling is falling apart little by little. I have a back split and every slant they could find or ceiling they added this god awful popcorn ceiling. You literally can't even bump into it without it falling apart. Who in their right mind would ever want a popcorn ceiling to begin with.
