Tyco would been the next traxxas if they'd stayed in the game, that one and the bandit was fast, tough as he!! and just awesome ,far surpassed retail stores and some hobby stores ..
I don't know about that.. They all had the same motors.. They were all the same speed.. I had the fast traxx, blaster, eliminator, hammer, and scorcher.. Each unique with their different design though.
@@jdkljfkjefjkjfdjdi I agree about the motors I had the turbo hopper then bandit and then the fast tracks and they all had same size motor I think it was a 280 motor and by putting a second motor in the fast tracks it just doubled the speed put 2 motors in the bandit and it would be as fast
Man you bringing me back bruh. I got the turbo bandit for Christmas. Thing was an absolute beast. The good old days when us kids actually had cool presents to open. Now you just get the kids an iPad & that's it.
Tyco, Nikko, Radio Shack and New Bright were what I had growing up, all of them were fantastic and unique in their own way. A red Bandit was my first and my favorite, but the Tyco Rebound was the car I wish they would remake with something similar today, that thing took a car running over it to finally do it in.
I had the fluorescent yellow. I got it for Christmas. I sneaked it, all wrapped up, to my room (had the rec room as my bedroom, basically half the basement) and I'd carefully unwrap it and play with it all night. I kept the battery and charger out and let it charge every day so I could run it once everyone went to bed. On Christmas eve I put the battery and charger back in the box so everything looked right the next morning. Lol. I loved that thing. But I ran it in snow a week after getting it Christmas day and fried the board. It was a bummer. At least I got 2 good weeks of use out of it. It really was great for a 14yr old who never got good gifts. I ask for something and I would get the knock off. Or I asked for the super Nintendo and got the original NES for christmas, second hand from someone my mother saw in the bar.
I got one for Christmas and couldnt wait to drive it!! There was snow everywhere so I drove it in the snow. It started smoking and broke. Took it back to the store and they didn’t have anymore, so I got a boom box. I’m 37 and still heartbroken about it.
I remember all the tyco r/c , they were the number 1 r/c u could get when I was a kid, they held up way better than hobby store r/c and had way more power than the niko and what not. The red dune buggy was my favorite.
I got one of these for Christmas the year it came out. I'm 37 now and still regret selling it when I was in my teens. Such a great little truck. They just don't make them like that anymore.
such a great RC car.. thanks for making the video.. I remember asking for this for months for Christmas and had so much fun with it.. I had the yellow one.. didn't even know there was a black one!
+Workingplayer53 Hey Player, glad you enjoyed the episode! I have many years practicing driving these RC Cars, Like a racing video game, the more you do it, the better you become.
For no reason just remembered "Tyco" no reason middle of night I'm thinking about this RC company so I punch it into UA-cam and comparing it the new bright POS RC I had Tyco looks amazing.
Still got mine too! mine is the green one still in great shape. I like my turbo bandit more but the a-arm broke years after I got it finally and so it sets...
+So Choice Fitness Oh NICE! If you ever decide to let the green one go, let me know! Id be happy to put it in my collection. (I broke my green one when I was little) Ah, yes the Bandit. The pinnacle of TYCO RC in my eyes. That Truck is the defining RC of the whole bunch. I have many of them when I was younger, sadly I played with them every day for many years, and in the end they all broke. I have some of the parts from them still, but no complete cars. I wish I had an A arm to send you so you can fix yours, I think all I have left is a motor and some wheels.
Brings back memories! I got the neon yellow truck for my birthday when I was around 8. It was one of my favorite toys growing up. I played with it for years! Tyco released two colors of the same RC vehicle to designate the frequency used. My yellow one was 27mhz (I think?) and the black one would have been the opposite (49mhz). That way two different people can race without crossing signals. Great video! Yours seems to be in great shape
That is pretty rad for a toy rc car ... nothing like the pro stuff but still impressive for what it was meant for. You don't really see toys like those these days.
Ya for sure! I feel like real pride was taken into account when toys were being made. Real care with engineering and innovation. Generic is a great way to describe the state of it now
My best friend had the hot green Hammer. That thing was a monster. We beat the shit out of it and it just asked for more. Doing jumps, crashing into walls, racing it on our bikes, getting chased and attacked by his dog. Hammer don't give a shit. Long live the Hammer!!!
Omg awsome video buddy... So cool to see something like this I was well in to rc as a kid I always remember Saturday mornings we used to take our cars to big flat concrete area and watch each others cars do jumps and drifting... I had one of these and I also had the hi jacker and Tyco traxxas....something about em was so cool the neon colours and extra little bits attention to details... Sure there were other kids with tamiya cars I had one of them as well but these seemed to be more fun... Tyco and Nikko were awsome not too fond of the new bright stuff thanks for trip down memory lane sub from me
I wanted the hammer and my friend was supposed to get the bandit. Somehow, our Moms went Christmas shopping and got the trucks, but gave us each others truck 😅. Too bad we weren’t mature enough to swap. Thx for posting this bro
The two speed slide switch was very common on toy grade RCs back then. Even the Nikko and Radio Shack RC cars had them. I had the Neon coloured Hammer back in the 90s. I'd put oil shocks on it and convert it to a mild brushless.
I had one of those when I was a kid and it was possessed! In other words, whenever I let it charge (while not even touching the remote whatsoever with the antenna back in its slot) it would automatically drive forward on its own, no joke! I remember it running into and injuring me and some of my friends a couple times. It scared the shit outta me!
I had the yellow one. It was a lot of fun, til my friends and I tried running it in the snow. We had no idea that afterwards, it would stutter for a while then never turn on again.
You have the 49MHz version. Wish I had one of those. I've got a 27MHz version. Everything we buy is 27MHz, can't play with my kids with anything. I've been thinking about upgrading the controller on my Hammer with a hobby board. I never even pull mine out of high unless I'm trying some kind of slow speed track or something. It has enough torque to pop a wheelie constantly even in high gear.
sadly i got the Hitari turbo king as my first RC car but very similar in colour and gearing to the monster truck and yes as a kid i loved being able to switch the high and low gearing on the motor. never understood it but always knew switching it meant the car would go faster over everything. batteries worn out though pretty quick leading to an 8 hour recharge minimum.
Tyco made really good toy grade rc back in the day . I would beat some lower end hobby grade cars . Also not many people new you could order parts for these cars if something broke . It was really cool .
Great vid...sounds like the gearbox is hurting?? I had a Tyco turbo F-1 in black and gold...now they are $200-300 if you can find one. My nephew had a turbo hopper, we played with them for days and bought the replacement parts from Tyco...definitely can't find service like that anymore. I remember a bumper being like $2-3.
+HeineHouseEntertainment Yeah I had a couple. Can't remember the names of the but one had tank treads on it and the other one was had big wheels that when it flip over you could still keep driving along.

Hey! It doesn’t matter the color scheme as long as the MHZ matches both the car and remote control. I have even used the 2 joystick version before, and although not as nice as the wheel form steering, they do work.
Thank I was skeptical with buying another remote that is 49 MHz blue n thinking it wouldn’t work on my tyco hammer because it wasn’t the same as wats on the side of the truck by the antenna
Hello back after so long, I finally got a remote and the frequencies match but it won’t respond to the remote for some reason, fresh batteries and 9.6v battery pack recharged so I don’t get it. I got the remote second hand so I’ll try another one soon.
Hey guys i need help. I wanted to get something similar like this tyco hammer that perform the wheelie thing. Anyone can recommend what rc brand to buy?

I kind of meant, yes you need to stop it, then switch the gear, then go again. I didn't mean while it was moving... Also, better brush up on your LED history bruh, LED's invented in 1962, gaining traction in the 1980's. www.stouchlighting.com/blog/history_of_light_emitting_diode_led-lighting

Your best bet at this would be garage sales, local sellers and eBay.
