Honestly, both of the ladies seem secure enough in their own awesomeness (in very different ways) that I can absolutely see that working.
Small steps, I guess. With Felicia now confirmed as Bi, Marvel is sloooooowly edging into modern times. Maybe in another ten or fifteen years we'll see them go polyamorous.
I love this!! I love her being more playful and slightly comedic. It sorta sets her apart from Catwoman, aside from one having hair out and the other doesn't. They're even both canonically bisexual!

i feel like the relationship between Spidey & Black Cat is a more relatable one than most of his others. they have a more equal footing, more of an actual partnership. plus they match up better... she lightens up his mood & he brings a bit of grounding to her flightiness.
i was okay with Spidey & Gwen but i don't know, i just never really liked MJ. i know it's that "childhood friend turned bf/gf" thing but they seriously never seemed to have much chemistry. she never challenged him and he never really made her stop being... well... her. if he was gonna go for shallow, why not go for the one that's a Success at it. you'd never see BC doing modeling/acting as a career. for her, anything like that's just a fun hobby. she actually has a more practical outlook on where the money is.
hey, it may not be "good" but it's better than the old "starving artist" trope. She _has_ money to donate to charity. you couldn't say that of MJ.

Spidey/Felicia worked as a couple but Peter/Felicia did not. When they were a couple in the 1980s she kept bugging him about revealing his identity to her. When he finally did she was shocked that he was a photographer in a shabby apartment living paycheque to paycheque. She assumed he was a millionaire in a mansion with a Spider-Cave and tons of gadgets. She literally yelled at him to put his mask back on. At that point Spidey knew the relationship was doomed because she loved Spider-Man, not Peter Parker.
Gwen started off as a strong character, but once she and Peter became a couple she was either (a) crying and running to her father, or (b) blaming Peter for something.
MJ was not Peter's childhood friend - they didn't meet until he was 18. Most adaptations have changed it so that they grew up next door to each other. He actually met her when Aunt May (and MJ's aunt) set them up on a date.
As far as Peter and MJ not having any chemistry, agree to disagree I guess. The Gerry Conway run in the 1970s (after Gwen died) is when MJ's character really came alive.
"you'd never see BC doing modeling/acting as a career." Right, because MJ isn't a criminal. She does a legal job. Felicia breaks the law to support herself. Not sure how that is a plus for Felicia and minus for MJ - sounds more like the other way around.
"Your mileage may vary..." which makes me wonder whether Felicia has ever interacted with Miles. Did Black Cat ever pose for Spidey photographs for th Daily Bugle? My brain is all over the place this morning.
When Spidey and Black Cat were a couple back in the 1980s she would often take his pictures for him (instead of him setting up his automatic camera like he normally did). When Peter sold those pictures to the Bugle they commended him on how his photography skills had improved.

Marvel annuals, back in the later '80s and early '90s, used to be Marvel's way of having crossover events with their various comics. Then there was a shift to use them to throw in story arcs that wouldn't have made the cut in their regular comics.

I did get this issue upon release and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did have the Black Cat run (before the present one) completed as well. She is another fun character that is given solid stories and dialogue by the writers. Nice job, Sasha.

Even as a young boy I recognized as far back as the sixties, this " I'm awesome" trait of most of Marvel characters was a turnoff. Which is why I preferred DC comics. Maybe I'm wrong, but at least as far as their heroes went, they seemed to come across a bit more humble.

The new Black Cat Annual just came out. It’s really good. Includes new members of Tiger Division!
Ohhhhh batroc was done completely perfect in this series. Face of a boxer, body of a dancer. And yeah they made love but they were completely adults about it. Ones a merc, the other is a thief, and the following night it was back to business.
Hope the writer can give us a batroc the leaper series one day

Black cat is a really complex character with a lot of messed up origins and retcons the one one that I know is that she was assaulted in college but the man got away with it so she dropped out and spent the next few years training to break into his house and kill him only to find out that he died in a car crash so with no money or home to go back to she used the skills she learned to become a literal cat burglar and her recent origin is that she was trained by an old school Spider-Man villain called the black fox a 60 year old thief who took her in and treated her like a daughter I find it interesting that in her early days she was in love with Spider-Man not Peter Parker she actually states that she hates seing him without the mask this symbolizes how she hates her self for getting assaulted even though it’s not her fault she sees herself falisha hardy as weak and innocent so she became the black cat this strong confident women as a way to feel like she’s in control she hates the idea of being normal cuz of what happened to her she fell in love with Spider-Man the confidence funny vigilante not Peter Parker the kind caring human being who try’s to have some semblance of a normal life much like how Peter feels more comfortable being Spider-Man falisa feels more comfortable being black cat only she’s always black cat falisa hardy is her name on paper but she’s always black cat this legendary thief you’ll never see a comic called falisha hardy your miled mannerd catholic school teacher cuz being black cat makes her feel strong and she never wants to loose that feeling of being something more then human that’s why I love her as a character

My first exposure to BC was the 90s Spider-Man so the vapid nature of her character in the comics is unfortunate. I like how Felicia gets more depth as she moved along the 90s show.

Ugh I got tricked! Thought there was a black cat spider man wedding like a what if. Disappointed! I always have had a hard time choosing between Felicia and Mary Jane, they are both great pairings for Peter.
Felicia may be a great pair for Spidey, she's not a great pairing for Peter. When they were a couple back in the 1980s she was only interested in Spider-Man. She would literally yell at him to put his mask back on if he tried to be "Peter Parker" around her.
At least it wasn't a drawn out as Batman Catwoman they can never just let Bruce be happy

Sadly, I find Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane more plausible than Peter's love life. MJ, Gwen, AND Felicia have the hots for Peter? I call no way.
The Steve Ditko drawn Peter? Absolutely.
But once John Romita started drawing the book he filled Peter out and made him much more attractive. Pretty much everyone in the book was attractive, which is understandable since Romita got his start in romance comics.
