"I have a bolter round with your name on it, and I'm gonna keep on firing until you get it"
-excerpt from the official operating manual for bolters
bolter rounds - the perfect present for any heretic
Randomicus Amen to that Brother. BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!
Well, its not like they'd like strippers anyway.
Why use just one why not all at once and watch the heretics shit themselves
Absolutely true!
I still think it's amazing just how much lore there is in warhammer 40k and even down the the smallest thing's like bolter rounds types again this one of the reason's why I became interested in the game great video as always grim.
Thanks for watching.
The amount of Hellfire rounds I've fired should've melted a hole right through that damn Spacehulk.
One other thing I believe in the book Rogue Trader it states the Heavy Bolter is a 'heavier' version of the bolter and it's calibre was 1.0 and it also confirms the .75 of the 'standard' Bolter.
Excellent vid
Thanks.
Other universa/fandoms: here's all the lore available explained in 30min.
WH40k: Here's 15 minutes video on technical details on ammunition for one specific weapon type used by one specific race in the galaxy.
Seems legit :D
Drum mags will work without jamming if they are properly designed and maintained.
One minor deviation in design required a 100rnd drum to only carry 90 rounds. This insured a loose fit and plenty of room for the rounds to move in the drum. Next is the rotary feed guide in the drum. this needs to be roller bearings not ball, due to the ball bearings waning durability in older more well worn units. Also plenty of dry lube, often graphite dust. However heavy INORGANIC machine grease can be used as well but it harder to clean out if fouled. Finally a reversing crank. This allows the drum to back up and unjam a round in the drum. A jam in the bolter, is another problem.
This variation works extremely well in trials. Its ability to be fixed on thh spot and instantly was very popular. But as there is not STC for it, there are none being issued en masse for the Astartes Primaris, SoBs, or the IG. However the Inquisition, particularly Grey knights and Deathwatch have been known to use more drum feeds than most units or chapters, and jams have never been observed or reported leading outsiders looking in, what scant few there are, to realize they are using the improved drums.
idea: variant of a bolt pistol using a cylinder instead of a mag since revolvers technically can't jam
Listening to you speak is like listening to someone in the Mechanicum speak, I love it. Subscribed after just a minute of listening
I'm glad you actually find that a positive aspect, lol.
It makes your voice more emersive to the 40k universe. It's beautifully in depth like I'm sitting in on a lecture with a Tech Priest. It feels like what an Adeptus Astartes might hear and view to become a Techmarine for his chapter. Lore + Immersion = all of the attention on the Lore.
That's very kind of you.
A normal bolter round can turn a heretic into a broken ketchup bottle I can imagine what will happen to them if a space mat used these rounds.
Ooh, thank you. This series of Bolter Rounds has given me an idea for some unique rounds of my own. Might employ them in some fiction.
Praise be.
You're welcome :)
How about an episode about different Lightning Claws patterns...
I'll get to that relatively soon probably. Gotta figure out if I wanna do a power weapons general video, or split it into multiple parts for individual power weapons.
**Places an Assault Cannon & Vengeance Cannon on the Table**
Deathwing Terminator: "The Assault Cannon is best for Hordes of Tyranids...
The Vengeance Cannon is to unleash your full might against a single enemy!"
You forgot the kicker charge that expels the round out of gun before it ignites.
EDIT: does it bother anyone that the banana mag is never equally proportional. Like dudes can’t draw curved lines.
-BOX mags.
Great Video 👍. For addition info and comparisons, a .75 caliber bolt round is 19.05mm in diameter. A modern .50 caliber BMG is 12.7mm.
Thanks for pointing that out.
When you realize the lethality of a standard bolt, you begin to realize how terrifying the 40k universe is
Mechanicus: Always make the caliber of the barrel twice as big as the projectile ...
Seems legit.
I keep being suprised at the detail you go into. I got interested in the different rounds used and here you are.
I like being thorough. But the credit should also go to the wikia writers. I just process their writings.
@@GrimDarkNarrator yeah ive noticed you use them, but you put it in ways that make it easier to process and have other little bits of information added in so thanks.
Your subscribers are almost a full Legion strong!! Congratulations my friend, keep up the good work! :)
Thanks. One could make the ancient pun that they are OVER 9000!!!
Banebolts of Eryxia are gloriously overpowered(Deathwatch use this bad boys)
I might mention it when i do a video on Deathwatch equipment.
5:34, so essentially its like someone throws a shotgun at you and it goes off about an inch away from you
Man I wish I had a bolter
My every time I make a kill using armor penetration rounds in certain games, a lot of people, even my squadmates start cussing at me and say I am a cheater, so I say to them "how am I cheating when I am using tactics, gear and aiming?" the same applies for tabletop or board games, besides "Sniping is a good job"
This Reminds Me Of The Venom Thorns Chapter. One Imperial Fist Captain Shot 99 Out Of 100 Bolt Rounds. Probably Killing All Of Them Because They Wanted Ultramar 2.0
I feel like the Imperium would've gotten better results with some sort of .50 caliber round or a .40 caliber, as that tip alone is too thick for good penetration, it looks more like a 9mm FMJ's tip rather than something sharp and penetrative like classic .50 BMG. Maybe the stabilized Gyrojet round helps out better, but as far as I can see any sort of irl purpose with equivalent types of material would merely end up not penetrating.

The Emperor is most pleased, brother.
thanks grim !
You're welcome :)
You're welcome friend
THANKS BRO!
You're welcome.
Adamantium core? Should of been called the Logan round. Ha
Sounds legit :D
More like
Wolverine rounds!
In the actual tabletop game though aren't deathwatch the only ones that can use specialist ammo?
I'm not very knowledgeable on the tabletop. In the lore though, there's plenty of factions with access to the more unique types of ammo. And there's also special kinds of ammunition restricted to those who only manufacture it for themselves like Space Wolves or Blood Angels.
I guess I’m gonna have to start playing! They need an interactive app game like pub g or war of clans but with the 40k universe! Man that would be insane!!!!!
I'd rather have a good open world one. Never liked battle royale.
Agreed,
Like 40k version of world of Warcraft! Now that would be epic! Could pick between life as a Space marine chapter specific or rouge, Eldar, necron, chaos Marine, ork, tau, assassin guild, inquisitor the list goes on and on. You could be apart of legions or any other corresponding groups. Travel the galaxy for different missions.
possibilities would be endless. Gameplay would be superb!
and youre welcome haha i said thanks before i was 3 seconds in ive been sharing among the groups making my rounds, everyone shout out if youre here from any of the grimdark groups !!
I'm here from my own group :P
Thanks for the vid sir.👍🏼👍🏼
You're welcome.
thx GDN love this one
Thanks for watching.
Can the heavy bolter use this other types of bolts? Becuase it would be awesome if it could
I haven't looked into it yet but I think it uses a slightly heavier caliber bolt. Could be mistaken though.
Hi in Advanced Space Crusade (board game) you control a team of marine scouts infiltrating a hive ship. One of the scouts is armed with a heavy bolter and allowed you to fire Hellfire rounds. Unsure about the tabletop version though
Oh cool. But can a scout marine hadel the heavy bolter without the power armor?
Oh cool. But can a scout marine hadel the heavy bolter without the power armor?
Scout marines don't really use heavy bolters. They typically use shotguns or sniper rifles. Also, while Scout marines don't typically wear full power armour, they can wear some elements of it which gives them partial benefits.
Chitin; pro: KY-ten. Armored carapace. Not CHI-ten.
Odd, in the 1960's bolters were tested and faded
They didn't use enough sacred oils.
Wasn't needed. The rounds were too complex to manufacture on a stable quality.@@GrimDarkNarrator

his speaking is a bit weard but it is good info
Can someone get the mountain from game of thrones on rich piana steroid dose, with Darpa power armor and a belt fed xm25 variant..
My guy sounds like a text to speech bot
I tried, I really tried...
I don’t even last two minutes before I mute the video and turn on captions.
His voice is aneurysm inducing.
Well, I never claimed to sound better than others. There are other lore channels too :)
