Moss Life Cycle Under The Microscope
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2016
- Mosses are seedless non vascular plants that can be found all over the world in damp moist environments.
Mosses have a unique life cycle in which the haploid stage (the gametophyte, n ) is the dominant generation. Once the egg is fertilized, a diploid sporophyte develops (2n) and produces spores which are dispersed into the surrounding environment.
The moss life cycle is as follows:
Spore - Protonema - gametophyte - Sporophyte

I learnt so much more in these 4 minutes that I ever would back in school, thanks for sharing this beautiful video! Visual learning is better than textbooks!
Both are good in their own way.textbook and visual
still a better love story than mine
Don’t say that!
Thank you so much! I'm a biology teacher in school and it's the first time for me when I see spores and sporophytes in such details! Now I wonder, why didn't I ever thought about using microscope for this by myself?!)
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I make material for students and teachers. I had the same thought as you, but to see some of these things, it takes a lot of time and preparation. I didn’t see a lot of these specimens with my own eyes until I started making UA-cam videos.
This was awesome. Wish you had it for ferns, angiosperm, conifers, and fungi Super helpful. Thanks!
If I ever get my hands on some, I will make a video on them.
@@sci-inspi please make it.... This video is very nice.... All concepts are cleared
@@sci-inspi I’m a 6th grader this helped a hell lot!
Thank you so much. Seeing concepts that you read about helps me better understand a TON. Please keep uploading videos like this :) Algae would be nice too!
I have no idea about this
But after watching your video my all doubts got cleared
And now I can understand from my book easily
Just Because of you
Your video was just amazing
Keep make vdo like this
So students can learn from your vdo
❤
Highly appreciated
Wow that really helped understand it...great job man😃
This is amazing. Thanks
Very detailed and well explained. Beautiful ;;

Thank you, beatiful video, simple and clear. Also the backing guitar is nice.
I freakin love your channel
Thank you. This helped my understanding.
Thank you. You are the best biologist on youtube!
The music is en pointe and helps me/us learn and stay glued!
Well done!
Very clear and simple explanation.superb.
Great music too!
Awww thanks whatever I wanted to see is revealed!!!!
Now its quite clear and understandable😊😊

Excellent video.
How many spores would you estimate have been released?
Nice,it helped alot
Спасибо Вам большое! Очень помогли понять данный процесс
Thank you so much for sharing! I will show this to my students, greetings from Mexico!

Good job
Too good..

thanks a lot
job well done dude....

Hey....please make some more videos on pteridophytes , gymnospers, angiosperms......loved this video🤩
I can see real protonema.. wow
Thankyou very much
stupendous fantabulous amazing extraordinary
It was amazing,a big thank you helped a lot!
Wow amazing it is very helpful for me after watching this video I understood that concept and make easier to me make more video in biology subject Pls it is request of me
wow Awesome
Great
The thumbnail looks like ants crawling on moss
M biology teacher your work is appreciable 😘😘
Beautiful and well explained
Hey! You are doing a great job, but why you have so fewer subscriber...
Dude....this is so beautiful 😍
Thank you!
amaaaziiinggggg ✨✨✨✨
This is great. It would be awesome if you could do the fern life cycle too.
I plan to in the future.
@@sci-inspi Awesome! It's funny cause theres alot of videos on fern life cycles but not one has a video showing a real prothallus. Given the quality of your videos, i think it would look really good.
Yea, it might take awhile but I am sure eventually I will get access to some.
awesome video !! keep up the scientific work
nice video...if i had seen it in +2 or BSc the subject became easier
this is an awesome video and very helpful too.......thanks for uploading :-)
Tried growing moss in a jar... it died.
Kris get the moss
this music is amazing
incase you were wondering the song is called moss LMAO hilarious
I want a handful of spores.
I was always wondering what it actually is? How books just skip the moto of learning. Great effort. 🙌🙌
Hilarious background song.
love the music. Could you tell me the name of it plz??
Will you guys shared the land adoptations of bryophytes
Name of the song?? Also awesome video but this song is something else wow
so weird , some batches of mine moss died out turning brown , can they handle constant wetness and another thing , if they are up in the wall ,how they mate ? rain ?
Phenomenal video, thank you
That's funaria. 1000 times more influencial than reading about it
Lovely music is this you playing?
Yup, thank you.
How many spores would you estimate have been released?
Mosses are the oldest land plants. In the Carboniferous age, they grew into tree size, like Lycopods.
You using a loop pedal right? I'm a guitar I'm interested in learning to emulate your style a bit
No, I recorded the whole rhythm, even though it loops.
Good better best
What is the size of the protonema?
Do you have a music channel?
this amazing
So beautiful...i understood clearly..
Thank you so much 😊
djis wya?
Something is making it move. Or is life just a mixture blended by the earth spinning? Something causes expansion.
I use microscope lamps with fans that help cool the bulb. Maybe the air from the fan moved it around.
Hi well I have so many questions here, you see I grab some moss from the soil near a restaurante and its triving, 1 cm in almost tree weeks, when will I see more spores? Will it be in years? Please say its just months to grow from soportes to full grown moss... Greatings from México
Hello, Greetings. Look for capsules in your moss. The spores come from there. It should take a few weeks to months to develop.
@@sci-inspi how great you answered my questions!!!!! 🙇♀️ now if you dont mind I have other... Here we go ¿how many hours of sunlight does it need?
Similar to other plants. I use artificial light and I mimic the seasons (8-12 hours of light per day) and they are fine. You can experiment and see how much sun your moss likes. It might be fine with full sun all day. Keep an eye on it, water it and it should be fine.
The intro didn't look like sphagnum moss. However the pompom/elongated pompom looking one looked so much like sphagnum.
In the Carnivorous Plants world, sphagnum moss is a very valuable potting medium.
Thanks for sharing!
😘
Moss,a plant,has sperm?!!!
Yup. and pollen in flowering plants is the male gamete, basically sperm.
