I don't think the German song would have much of a chance, it has a great message, but since it's sung in German that message would be lost during the live performance, and otherwise the song doesn't have that much going for it. If you wanna sing in your native language, you gotta have a catchy song, otherwise the chances of it doing good are slim.

Blood & Glitter / Lord of The Lost simply the best. I think Eurovision proved to appreciate the different sound and look, the magnetism of a talented band. Hope Germany would choose wisely, this song could go all the way because of its' uniqueness.

Frida is probably my fave, I think it's just so genuine even if I have no idea what she is saying, I also love hearing German. It has the same feeling for me as Voila did, which was my winner that year.
I find it so interesting that every song in the line up seems to have its fans. I’ve seen every singe one of those tracks ranked first in videos, which I think is a great sign, considering especially the televote lives of people liking a song from a selection best.
With Lord of the Lost you definitly get what you buy. A lot of energy and power on stage, they know what they are doing and I am already sorry for who had to clean up after them. Funfact: Iron Maiden asked them to be their supporting act on last year's tour and asked them to support them AGAIN this year. They have a huge international and national fanbase, so I really hope we send them to Liverpool. And even if not, I'll be seeing them play live soon eough again ❤

I've been a LotL fan since 2018 and the band itself exists since 2009 and they are quite famous in the metal and rock scene, a lot of their international and german concerts are sold out when they go on tour - they definetly know what they are doing BUT they have a very unique style in terms of everything so sometimes it takes a while to get used to it ^^ they definetly have better songs but out of all 8 NF Songs this is BY FAR the best choice we germans can make ^^ i hope my people choose them
The line „We're so happy we could die“ from „Blood and Glitter“ reminded you probably of Gotye’s song „Somebody that I used to know“ where the line goes „Like when you said you felt so happy you could die“.
I feel the same about TRONG - visually brilliant, lyrically atrocious. René is my fave, very Bastille/Imagine Dragons. Also my 6th fave song of all NFs.

As for the song by Will Church, I'll just say their winning song somehow stolen from the Dutch (Duncan Laurence), nope ...........! This year surprised Frida Gold, woah I was flashed from the first note on the flamenco tones with the guitar and the voice with the lyrics, wow madness how I'm captivated listening to a German song ............ Top. The rest is more of an Irish folk pop song and a Bulgarian song contribution from Victoria (2021) covered by Anica Russo, it seemed to me. The last one in the round, Renè Miller, sounds like the German contribution from last year! Moin Moin and good luck ..........
I have a soft spot for Trong. He really wants to go to Eurovision as he tried several times already. He's got great charisma and stage presence and watching his performances one can see that he really loves what he's doing. It's just that the Song could be better this year. But maybe.. with a good performance at the live show.. who knows. Lord of the Lost and Patty Gurdy have really grown on me. I wasn't so into them after hearing their songs for the first time but meanwhile I came to like and appreciate their entries. I hope all three of them will do well at the live performance in March. I've left it a few days to percolate my opinions. I love pretty much any genre of music but am a metal head at heart, so Lord of the Lost is right up my alley. I wanted to give the other songs a fair chance to get in my head as LotL instantly wowed me. Their influences are Rammstein, Nine in Nails & Marilyn Manson, as well Lady Gaga. The first 3 are regulars for me & I've seen NIN & MM live, so it's understandable I liked them. I'd happily go see them live & have already bought some of their back catalogue after hearing about them a few weeks ago. If LotL don't win, hopefully it will be Patty Gurdy, Lonely Spring or even Anica Russo. I'm not keen on the others.
The Thing with the last couple of Years The Radio Station and Televison Channel "NDR" had chose the particpant thats why most music that was presented was mostly popish after a huge boycott by fans and again in the last 5 places the "NDR" finaly begin to listen tp the fans because they wanted more diversity in music
Interesting, our opinions differ quite a bit with this selection. One thing we both agree on is this is a definite step up from last year. In terms of individual songs: Will Church: I find this ballad to be quite effective. His vocal is great, it will be difficult to sing live but its a very pleasant listen. My current 3rd place in the selection. Patty Gurdy: I'm not feeling the hype for this like many people are. I find myself slightly cringing it at unfortunately. Its very 2000s to possibly early 2010s cheesy europop for me with Celtic instrumentation. It feels to me like what RTE would want if they were like, let's send something with a traditional flair but make it europop. Esepcially in comparison to other entries that contain traditional Celtic instrumentation, or something similar (if I was to pick only tear drops for example) I much prefer that entry to this one. I could see televoters getting behind it but I'm not a fan unfortunately and luckily for me, seems to be one of the favourites to win. Trong: This song doesn't work for me. Its someaht cheesy and lyrically I can copy and paste everything I said about Wild Youths song. It feels very written for esc , pandering for a certain audience, bit mortified to see Elsie Bay listed as a songwriter. Like the dancing and the concept but not at all a fan of the finished product. Lord of the lost: Another favourite that I'm not a fan of really at all, its just not at all my cup of tea. It feels like is going for a similar audience to bedwetters in eesti laul which is an entry I'm also not the most fond of. Frida: This is quality, like ive mentioned with Krutь in Vidbir, its a thought provoking, entry that I think would be a great interval act, dunno if it'd work as an entry but I did enjoy it, my current joint 1st. Misfits: This is fun and in some way endearing. Reminiscent of Teenage Dirtbag and I get knocked down for me. I think if it was selected it'd be competing with Ollie in the final (if he's selected). I enjoy it. René: This is an entry that I'm fully aware is nothing new but its bloody catchy 😂. I've been listening to it on repeat since its release. The verses reminded me of Ed Sheeran and the chorus maybe more along the lines of Lewis Capaldi, really like this song. Also the only song last year that comes close to this (Malik's was nice tbf) is Felicia's and I think this has even more punch. My joint 1st of this selection. Anica: I think this song sounds cool but its a little lacking. The chorus is quite impactful and her vocal for me seems quite tiktok compatible, I think its nice but I don't know how it'll do.
yea patty is pretty cringey, but i think its part of the package. i can see kids REALLY liking this, shes got a childrens show performer quality to her too. id love a celtic style song like this in eurosong in the next few years. i get theyre holding off for something decent tho. oh whoa i didnt realise Elsie was a songwriter for Trong! Im guessing maybe it was one of her lower down songs from the songwriting camp - good spot! you know when i was editing, i was enjoying Misfit more, I just wish it was a little stronger in the melody and less repetitive, cos as a vibe its very different. with rene, totally makes sense why i didnt feel it. i was annoyed at myself for not verablising that it sounded quite mainstream to me, like those names you mentioned, all of whom i dont have a single of their songs.

Also fully agree with what you said about Patty, its does have a very children's entertainer vibe and yeah I'd imagine it'd have an appeal to televoters, somewhat like subwoolfer last year. I prefer Ollie in Eesti laul to misfit but I do think of they were both selected (not really expecting it tbh) they could both do well, Venom is the stronger song though. Also the note on a Celtic style song, literally I got some family members to listen to this years songs in our selection and whilst they didnt mind some (Adgy,WIld Youth *surprisingly* and Connolly) they were saying, why can't we send a traditional, Celtic type song because they all really liked Denmark 2013 and even Moldova last year because of the instrumentation. I'd fully imagine if it was TG4 doing the selection, you'd hear a lot more of that.
well i thought 2018 and 2019 had a better song, but as a foreigner this feels WAY more varied and a better representation of Germany's music scene rather than those previous years which were all pop so if i had to choose, this year seems like the best to me cos were seeing these other rock-esque entries coming through

yea, i think any progress should be encouraged though. one thing is that i didnt even watch their NF last year and i will definitely watch it this year, if even just for the fact it i think it could be a close event

Many Germans have Lord of the lost as a favorite.. But.. there will be an international finale... And if Germany wants to avoid ending up at the lover part of the result list..they must send Patty Gurdy She might not be that big in Germany, but she has Spotify listeners from almost every country in the world.. (180 countries out of ..is it 195?..) She has 280k followers on Instagram..(more than 4 times more than LotL).. and she gets 5-6-7 thousand new followers each day now.. So if Germany wants to reach the top of the list... choose Patty..Remember.. Germany won't be able to vote on their own artists in the finale... By the way .. yes ..Patty is playing the hurdygurdy..One of the worlds best .. And one of her favorite games is Stardew valley . ..a calm and quiet game that she can relax with ..And not to forget to mention the Norwegian Snowcastle game Ikonei Island ..where she also are one of the characters ..an pirate hog 😊 So i hope Germany will choose Patty Best wishes from Norway
Why does Germany have only 1 song in German? It's so disappointing, that they don't show Europe their culture. I would love to see more of something like the Spanish entry in 2023, or Ukraine 2021, or Albania, or France 2021, etc. Germany, please, show us at least something German.
I was waiting for your video for Germany's selection! I literally thought of you immediately as soon as I saw Patty Gurdy & Trong! Patty for the heavily influenced Irish/norse sounds, and Trong because I know you respond well to androgynous male performers who sell the whole package. Loving your positive approach to this years selection....last year you were literally going IN on some of the songs 😆 hehe. For me, Patty Gurdy is head and shoulders above everyone else here. I too love the Irish sounds, the melody and the fact that she looks like she's ready for a full on makeover to get in to character for Eurovision. She's kept it really simple so she can go anywhere with her styling. 2nd place goes to Mr Adidas himself, Will Church. Love his voice and I like the production on that one. 3rd place for me goes to Jona & fourth place goes to Trong. I do love me some Trong because he's clearly an incredible performer; but I worry a lot for strong performers who are paired with songs that aren't as strong as they are. I'm honestly happy with any of these winning the German selection though. So happy with this years selection.

Agree with Trong, I wish he was paired with something better. i checked out another one of his songs and it was actually more meh than this one. When it comes to Patty Gurdy... PLEASE, take a look at "Kaufmann & Maid"! The background: In a Comedy TV Show, they made a pretty famous singer (Sasha) to create some extra-shitty songs (or at least a minute) in different genres and presented them to a small audience (as a "preview to possible album songs" to see their reactions). One of these songs was in the style of the medieval-age rock scene, Sasha stated, that he actually hates this genre. But this scene is not famous for taking themself serious. So it wouldn't take long and the "big names" joined forced and turned this short preview song -togehter with Sasha- into a full version, which is still stupid, but catchy. Patty Gurdy is one of these artists ^^
Don't forget also about the wildcard song, which will be picked from TikTok. Sadly, there's an actual TikTok song competing in there (so yeah that's definitely winning) but there's one song that really good in there too, Draw The Line. I'm actually very surprised it wasn't picked in the first place.
A pretty OK selection of songs. I like that it's a more diverse lineup than last year, but I'm not wowed by any of these tbh. It's a bit like Denmark, but there are two songs that really stand out from the rest for me in DMGP while here I find it hard to pick a favourite.
I would Never choose to listen to a song like blood and glitter on my own time...... it'd probably be a good choice for Eurovision though. lol. Definitely stands out and I Know there'll be an audience for it. My personal favourite is Melodies of Hope though. I've had it on replay for the last couple of days, so, it is Stuck in my head big time. haha. There's some decent options in this selection though. Not bad, Germany.

Will Church is exactly my style, I love the vocals. I like Patty Gurdy but lyrics and the hurdygurdy are a little cheesy for me. I like what Trong is going for and the dancing is very slick but the song doesn't grip me. Lonely Spirit is so 2000s in a bad way for me. Anica Russo's song is really good and she's got a great voice but overall I think it's not strong enough. Lords of the Lost I really wanted to like simply for being different but the melody never goes where i want it to go. Frida Gold reminds me of what Germany used to send decades ago and I do like it but as someone who doesn't speak German it's hard to pick out an obvious story without research which won't help them at Eurovision. (fyi two of the tiktok entries are also in German so 3/14 - less than I'd like but obviously far better than last year) René Miller is my favourite. Maybe it feels generic to some but I love the vocals and lyrics

I love the variety this year but as a metalhead my personal favorites are Patty Gurdy and Lord of the Lost.
I have a soft spot for Trong. He really wants to go to Eurovision as he tried several times already. He's got great charisma and stage presence and watching his performances one can see that he really loves what he's doing. It's just that the Song could be better this year. But maybe.. with a good performance at the live show.. who knows.
Lord of the Lost and Patty Gurdy have really grown on me. I wasn't so into them after hearing their songs for the first time but meanwhile I came to like and appreciate their entries.
I hope all three of them will do well at the live performance in March. Wishing them all the best

I've left it a few days to percolate my opinions. I love pretty much any genre of music but am a metal head at heart, so Lord of the Lost is right up my alley. I wanted to give the other songs a fair chance to get in my head as LotL instantly wowed me. Their influences are Rammstein, Nine in Nails & Marilyn Manson, as well Lady Gaga. The first 3 are regulars for me & I've seen NIN & MM live, so it's understandable I liked them. I'd happily go see them live & have already bought some of their back catalogue after hearing about them a few weeks ago.
If LotL don't win, hopefully it will be Patty Gurdy, Lonely Spring or even Anica Russo. I'm not keen on the others.

The Thing with the last couple of Years The Radio Station and Televison Channel "NDR" had chose the particpant thats why most music that was presented was mostly popish after a huge boycott by fans and again in the last 5 places the "NDR" finaly begin to listen tp the fans because they wanted more diversity in music
As a German my favorites are Anica Russo, Frida Gold and From Fall to Spring (TikTok-Voting). I think Patty or Lord of the Lost will win
Interesting, our opinions differ quite a bit with this selection. One thing we both agree on is this is a definite step up from last year.
In terms of individual songs:
Will Church: I find this ballad to be quite effective. His vocal is great, it will be difficult to sing live but its a very pleasant listen. My current 3rd place in the selection.
Patty Gurdy: I'm not feeling the hype for this like many people are. I find myself slightly cringing it at unfortunately. Its very 2000s to possibly early 2010s cheesy europop for me with Celtic instrumentation. It feels to me like what RTE would want if they were like, let's send something with a traditional flair but make it europop. Esepcially in comparison to other entries that contain traditional Celtic instrumentation, or something similar (if I was to pick only tear drops for example) I much prefer that entry to this one. I could see televoters getting behind it but I'm not a fan unfortunately and luckily for me, seems to be one of the favourites to win.
Trong:
This song doesn't work for me. Its someaht cheesy and lyrically I can copy and paste everything I said about Wild Youths song. It feels very written for esc , pandering for a certain audience, bit mortified to see Elsie Bay listed as a songwriter. Like the dancing and the concept but not at all a fan of the finished product.
Lord of the lost: Another favourite that I'm not a fan of really at all, its just not at all my cup of tea. It feels like is going for a similar audience to bedwetters in eesti laul which is an entry I'm also not the most fond of.
Frida: This is quality, like ive mentioned with Krutь in Vidbir, its a thought provoking, entry that I think would be a great interval act, dunno if it'd work as an entry but I did enjoy it, my current joint 1st.
Misfits: This is fun and in some way endearing. Reminiscent of Teenage Dirtbag and I get knocked down for me. I think if it was selected it'd be competing with Ollie in the final (if he's selected). I enjoy it.
René: This is an entry that I'm fully aware is nothing new but its bloody catchy 😂. I've been listening to it on repeat since its release. The verses reminded me of Ed Sheeran and the chorus maybe more along the lines of Lewis Capaldi, really like this song. Also the only song last year that comes close to this (Malik's was nice tbf) is Felicia's and I think this has even more punch. My joint 1st of this selection.
Anica: I think this song sounds cool but its a little lacking. The chorus is quite impactful and her vocal for me seems quite tiktok compatible, I think its nice but I don't know how it'll do.
yea patty is pretty cringey, but i think its part of the package. i can see kids REALLY liking this, shes got a childrens show performer quality to her too. id love a celtic style song like this in eurosong in the next few years. i get theyre holding off for something decent tho.
oh whoa i didnt realise Elsie was a songwriter for Trong! Im guessing maybe it was one of her lower down songs from the songwriting camp - good spot!
you know when i was editing, i was enjoying Misfit more, I just wish it was a little stronger in the melody and less repetitive, cos as a vibe its very different.
with rene, totally makes sense why i didnt feel it. i was annoyed at myself for not verablising that it sounded quite mainstream to me, like those names you mentioned, all of whom i dont have a single of their songs.

Also fully agree with what you said about Patty, its does have a very children's entertainer vibe and yeah I'd imagine it'd have an appeal to televoters, somewhat like subwoolfer last year.
I prefer Ollie in Eesti laul to misfit but I do think of they were both selected (not really expecting it tbh) they could both do well, Venom is the stronger song though.
Also the note on a Celtic style song, literally I got some family members to listen to this years songs in our selection and whilst they didnt mind some (Adgy,WIld Youth *surprisingly* and Connolly) they were saying, why can't we send a traditional, Celtic type song because they all really liked Denmark 2013 and even Moldova last year because of the instrumentation. I'd fully imagine if it was TG4 doing the selection, you'd hear a lot more of that.
I also don't get the hype about Patty. It's Melodies of Nope for me 🙈

well i thought 2018 and 2019 had a better song, but as a foreigner this feels WAY more varied and a better representation of Germany's music scene rather than those previous years which were all pop

I would choose Rockstar over all of these. Germany is on the way up, but in a shy way.
yea, i think any progress should be encouraged though. one thing is that i didnt even watch their NF last year and i will definitely watch it this year, if even just for the fact it i think it could be a close event

Why does Germany have only 1 song in German? It's so disappointing, that they don't show Europe their culture. I would love to see more of something like the Spanish entry in 2023, or Ukraine 2021, or Albania, or France 2021, etc.

I literally thought of you immediately as soon as I saw Patty Gurdy & Trong! Patty for the heavily influenced Irish/norse sounds, and Trong because I know you respond well to androgynous male performers who sell the whole package.
Loving your positive approach to this years selection....last year you were literally going IN on some of the songs 😆 hehe.
For me, Patty Gurdy is head and shoulders above everyone else here. I too love the Irish sounds, the melody and the fact that she looks like she's ready for a full on makeover to get in to character for Eurovision. She's kept it really simple so she can go anywhere with her styling.
2nd place goes to Mr Adidas himself, Will Church. Love his voice and I like the production on that one.
3rd place for me goes to Jona & fourth place goes to Trong. I do love me some Trong because he's clearly an incredible performer; but I worry a lot for strong performers who are paired with songs that aren't as strong as they are.
I'm honestly happy with any of these winning the German selection though. So happy with this years selection.

When it comes to Patty Gurdy... PLEASE, take a look at "Kaufmann & Maid"!
The background: In a Comedy TV Show, they made a pretty famous singer (Sasha) to create some extra-shitty songs (or at least a minute) in different genres and presented them to a small audience (as a "preview to possible album songs" to see their reactions). One of these songs was in the style of the medieval-age rock scene, Sasha stated, that he actually hates this genre. But this scene is not famous for taking themself serious. So it wouldn't take long and the "big names" joined forced and turned this short preview song -togehter with Sasha- into a full version, which is still stupid, but catchy. Patty Gurdy is one of these artists ^^

A pretty OK selection of songs. I like that it's a more diverse lineup than last year, but I'm not wowed by any of these tbh. It's a bit like Denmark, but there are two songs that really stand out from the rest for me in DMGP while here I find it hard to pick a favourite.

Will Church is exactly my style, I love the vocals.
I like Patty Gurdy but lyrics and the hurdygurdy are a little cheesy for me.
I like what Trong is going for and the dancing is very slick but the song doesn't grip me.
Lonely Spirit is so 2000s in a bad way for me.
Anica Russo's song is really good and she's got a great voice but overall I think it's not strong enough.
Lords of the Lost I really wanted to like simply for being different but the melody never goes where i want it to go.
Frida Gold reminds me of what Germany used to send decades ago and I do like it but as someone who doesn't speak German it's hard to pick out an obvious story without research which won't help them at Eurovision. (fyi two of the tiktok entries are also in German so 3/14 - less than I'd like but obviously far better than last year)
