I have no clue what Eurovision is or what it is about, but it looks like a big event!
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual event where musicians from different countries compete against each other. It exists since 1956, and usually the semi finals and finals are held in the country of the previous year's winner. (Last year Ukraine won, but since it can't be held there for obvious reasons, it was held in England, because they got the second place last year.)

I really hope Eurovision changes how much the judges impact the final votes. I think that was one of the reasons there was so much drama around the finale and who won. I hope next year the jury votes only amount to 20-30% of the final score not half like it is now. The scores should reflect what the PEOPLE vote and want 🎉

I get excited for Eurovision every year too. Been watching since 2010, and it's pretty lonely as a fan from the US for the most part.
I was team Käärijä, but huge congrats to Loreen because she is an incredible performer. I heard a bunch of people say the song wouldn't have won if someone else sang it and ... yeah? It's because she brings it to another level. Why get mad when it's just recognizing amazing talent? Anyway, the fans should instead try to emulate the artists because both Loreen and Käärijä themselves have been gracious and humble.
Also, just out of curiosity, what was your favorite song last year? Mine was In Corpore Sano, and obviously I didn't expect Konstraka to win, but glad she did so well!

Oh, you should've seen the discourse and the vile things Finnish newspapers and people were saying about Loreen winning the second time: they said it was rigged, wondered how it was allowed, how the first place was stolen from Käärijä, etc. etc. I always knew that Finns have this weird hatred towards Swedes while they don't give a fuck about Finns, but seeing it this visceral was something else. I've lived in Finland over 30 years (not a Finn myself) and I've never seen their hatred towards Swedes be this bad (well, when hockey is on and it's FIN vs SWE, then the shit hits the fan also). To me their hatred was just hilarious and quite pathetic, as of course a better one wins, no matter how much you like or dislike it - grow tf up.

It looked like a dystopian movie from the1970s, showing how decadent and tasteless show biz would become. And it did. Like when "Network" had the news broadcast filming, and it had a segment with an astrologer making horoscope predictions for the upcoming news-week. And now we have FOX apocalypse as a news channel.
I couldn't get over the comments on the Eurovision channel! I love Loreen and that song but even if I didn't... that other country just wasn't that great to me and I don't get it. It's got a catchy chorus but the live performance didn't sound that great and I don't understand it! Is that country just terrible losers? This is the first year I've paid attention as it's happened and I'm an American so I thought maybe it was just a me thing till you said something too lol
You know, it wasn't only finns (the ppl from THAT country) throwing hissy fits about the thing. No need for the sore loser stamp.

@@Cove_Blue Propably yeah. But there seems to be a lot of trolls and conspiracy theorists coming out of the woodworks too. ...And then there's some of the Bojan x Käärijä shippers (don't even ask...). Honestly the whole thing is starting to be so absurd it's almost entertaining. Almost.
I am a Brit living in Germany and it is ridiculous how Brits say no one likes them because of Brexit but the Germans also say no one likes them! There are plenty of countries that never even get through to the final anymore so I think it is silly of both. I'm sorry people were so horrible about Loreen! I wasn't really into the Finnish one as my Finnish friend didn't like it due to it being about going on the piss and she pointed out they have a horrible alcohol problem there.
