    I don't hate the Koopalings I just don't like how their fought in the 2D games. And as long as they do more with them besides,"Jump and wait a few seconds" I don't mind them coming back in this installment. Although I would also like to see either a new orignal bosses or Koopaling substitutes(not giant versions of regular enemies).

      yea i agree i love the koopalings too at least in wii i could let it slide that they were there because kamaks magic made them have unique abilities and such which i really liked but i would love for them to have unique bosses even more now like cmon people have complained about dj octavio being the same final boss from splatoon until 3 king boo being the main antagonist in luigis mansion 3 and the castle bosses are no exception in 2d mario i think it’s time they break this new super mario bros syndrome crap once and for all with new super mario bros dream and finally have unique bosses again it’s what people have been begging for so its only natural that they listen to the fans and give us unique bosses again

      Me too, it just so unfair how they give jr all the good boss fight and the Koopalings they deserve better boss fights.

      YES! The koopalings are fine, they just need more unique abilities, and you shouldn't just be able to jump on their head immediately after they get up to kill them in seconds

    Honestly, the koopalings are great! I just hope they don't have the same basic boss format as the rest of the games! People hate the koopalings so much for Nintendo not giving them better boss fights!

    I want the Koopalings to appear in a 3d Mario game as bosses rather than them being stuck as only 2d bosses.

      I agree.I hate when people say that the Koopalings belong in a 2-D game and won't work well in a 3-D game it's not true you just have to tweak them a bit and it did come up with creative new ideas.(Which is easy but developers don't want to give them that chance)
      Edit: after much time of thinking I think it's time for them be and more 3D games than 2D games. Because 2D games isn't working for them anymore and it's holding them back from showing their true potential.

      My take is that mario oddessy would've completely worked with the koopalings in place of those four rabbits whatever they're called. You even fight them seven times if you count the two in bowser's kingdom as one fight, and the mech could've been bowser jr's instead. Not sure what they would put in place of the rabbit lady with a chain chomp, but I think she could work on her own

      They’re in paper Mario:colour splash which is 3D but the battle is not 3D. So practically they are in a 3D Mario game.

    Before I watch, I don't mind seeing the Koopalings again just as long as they make their boss battles more unique. We see that with Bowser Jr already

    Honestly, I think people would be far less critical towards the Koopalings if New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the only NSMB game to feature them as boss fights. When they were brought back, it had been a hot minute since we’d fought them in a mainline game, so they could’ve just brought them back as a one-time thing, and then went back to making something new.

    The koopalings don't need to stop showing up, they need better fights. They have potential, but nintendo doesn't want to use it. If the koopalings just had good fights, people wouldn't be dreading their appearances. Think about it, nobody hates seeing bowser show up again.

      i agree with you on that even having a new fight in super mario bros 2 was unique and even better than the fight on the wii and i know most people don’t like that boss in particular but god new super mario bros 2s final was just so much fun so i didn’t mind seeing bowser again same with the u version so i can agree with you on that as long as he has a new design and fight again i’ll be pretty satisfied

      @@Kurumithespiritnightmare exactly! I love the koopalings and their personalities (Iggy being my personal favourite rather than Midwig) but their bossfights were such garbage.. I really want to see the Koopalings return with GOOD bossfights that represent their personalities without you being able to cheese them by jumping on them as soon as they come out of their shell

      @@mechzero6960 yea i agree with you on that if they are invincible for a short time or can only be hit by using enemies to attack like in mario maker that’d be pretty good for the koopalings but it’s just so hypocritical that 2d donkey kong can have original characters and antagonists but 2d mario can’t it’s stupid to only have one series do it when they can easily do both 2d mario needs to evolve its just stupid to not allow it to to add insult to injury the mario movie Has More Unique Characters Than 2d Mario That’s Insulting On So Many Levels 😡

      i would still dread their appearances. they are very similar to each other in design, and they’ve already appeared many times before. i need unique interesting new bosses. the idea of bosses like the koopalings is so stupid. why would you want a group of similar bosses you already know what are like over cool new bosses you have never seen before, that are distinct from each other. you would be so much more excited for boss battles if they were actually interesting

      Big super Mario bros 2 fan huh? Yeah I’ve always wanted a lot of enemies and bosses to return from that game, feels like Nintendo forgot about nearly all of them except for a handful.

    You know what surprised me? Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Near the end of the game, the Koopalings just came out of nowhere, and you had to fight each one before the final boss. Why not do this in a mainline game? Picture this; You're in the last world, coming up on Bowser's castle, when all the sudden, BOOM! Airships of Koopalings come out of nowhere, and block the path to Bowser's castle. So you make your way onto the first airship, with a short, emphasis on short, area of level that you just play through the airship, followed by a battle with Larry, but not normal Larry. Dark Larry. Possessed Larry. Whatever they're called. Anyway, boss battle ensues, not to difficult, with a unique Wonder Effect twist. You beat the boss, and quickly make your way onto the next airship. Each airship has very unique items and obstacles, followed by a Koopaling with a similar twist. Finally, after Dark Larry, Lemmy, Morton, Roy, Wendy, Iggy, and Ludwig(Not in that order), you come to your last encounter with Dark Bowser Jr. After each battle, you free each boss from the mind control. After all that, you can finally head to the end of the game(at least before the post game), and fight bowser, who is not an easy boss. He just keeps coming at you, with different waves and attacks, and eventually, gets so powerful that Mario knows he can't win, when suddenly, BAM! The Koopalings, led by Bowser Jr., who has always wanted to help his dad from bad situations, comes in, and through a way similar to that one Yoshi's island game, helps Mario and friends defeat Dark Bowser and free him. Then of course the post game is about finding who mind controlled them in the first place and stopping them. My personal theory is that it's one of those new Toad creatures gone bad, as you can see from his castle, it has the same top as the Floads (Flower Toads). Whew, that was a lot.

      that would be probably the best 2d mario game to date as much as i love fighting bowser in 2d mario id love for him to become so powerful that you know you can’t beat him on your own just like in bowsers inside story and bowser jrs journey to defeat fawful and the best fitness friends you team up with bowser bowser jr and the koopalings to save the world that would be the best thing to do now in a 2d game considering just how stale the series has become over the years its everything 2d mario needs right now so i definitely agree with you on that whole teaming up with your enemies thing for this new 2d mario game

      And if the making to Super Mario Wonder I got some good ideas and boss fight for the Koopalings example: imagine you going to fight Roy then you see him wearing loose armor, holding his canon in is hand and wonder flower in the other. The once used to wonder flower he turned to a Mega Man like boss shooting bullet Torpedoes at you,using Bruster's instead of jumping and magnetboots to climb up the walls and walk on ceilings.

      @@_J189 i agree with you unfortunately meowser was a total Let Down for certain people who wanted an epic boss fight like in galaxy and 64 and what we got was the Worst boss in the game because you don’t even fight him that’s fine in 2d mario but for 3d mario it betrayed everything we loved about the final boss fights in the first 4 games aka the Fight Itself so id love to fight elephant bowser like in the wii u version of 2d mario because if not elephant bowser will just be disappointing just like meowser was

    I honestly like the koopalings and I want to see them return in super mario wonder but with more unique battles. I also would like to see other bosses in the towers such as petey piranha, king Bob-omb, king boo, birdo...etc because I like to see past characters return and give them a place in a mainline mario game and not only in the spin-offs; but I don't think they're returning because super Mario Bros wonder is taking place in the flower kingdom, not the mushroom kingdom

    Ehhh. I like the Koopalings, much more than Bowser Junior, and I really do not want to see the Koopalings go missing for decades yet again. I would just prefer they get better boss battles instead of insisting on them being a "bop them on the head and maybe they have a gimmick" like, look at them in Yoshi Safari for example. I would also prefer the more original bosses be the mid world bosses.
    I know we are getting a reworked Mario in Mario Wonder, but I still think Nintendo is going to want to keep the game easy for kids, so I HIGHLY doubt we're going to get a boss that's more complex than "jump on their head three times"
    Also the Koopalings have been immortalized in Smash Bros and the Universal Studios ride and I'm sure they'll be in a movie soon, so I don't think they're going anywhere any time soon. Like them or hate them, they're a huge part of the Mario mythos that belong here. They just need to be made better, much like everything about 2D Mario in general for the last decade.

      if that’s the case and with new boss designs as well just like bowser jrs new design i’ll honestly be pretty satisfied i just think it’s stupid that they let every other series evolve and have new original characters but 2d mario has to stay the same uninspired crap that it’s been is just stupid even paper mario origimi king has more unique characters than 2d mario and that’s says a lot considering how bare bones origomi kings original characters actually are

    I feel like nsmbu bosses are underrated like everyone is fed up with the koopalings returning once again or are defeating the bosses to quickly to appreciate how cool and unique the bossfights are,Lemmy has explosive bouncy bomb balls instead of regular bouncy balls which makes it interesting but not hard as it's the first castle boss,Morton has a cool mechanic which fits the desert world he is located in and it's another unique idea revolving around fitting in the world and using an enemy,Larry using water geysers makes again fit in the world and its unique,Wendy has a cool thing the once again fits in the world this time if her rings hit icicles on the ceiling they fall and she skates on ice,Iggy can walk on the ceiling by using pipes which he can use in the shell mode to wrap around he can also summon a lava monster,Roy can use a Bullet Bill Launcher to shoot Bullet Bills at you and Ludwig can use cloning and levitating in his battle which requires players to use their deduction and tracking skills in that battle I don't have time to list all the bosses right now

    I want a mix of the koopalings and original bosses but give the koopalings something special like bowser jr seems to have also I like to note that the bowser jr room has pipes in it 2 of them so maybe he makes things come out of them like enemies or objects you have to destroy with your fire flower

    I’m fine with the Koopalings, Boom-Boom, Reznor, and Kamek returning again, as long as their mechanically crafted to fit the design of the levels. Yeah, you can argue that they are not filled with quality, but that’s only what you see of them, you don’t see their potential. Simple example, give Roy a drill sergeant type role in Bowser’s Army and use his hand cannon from U in his fight to blast “firework” torpedos (from the trailer), then boom, interesting boss battle. Mario U’s version of the Koopalings are overall the most unique in the series with new arsenal given to almost all of them, except Larry, but he still has an interesting early-game boss anyway. I could go for a while on how some, SOME of the New game boss fights are actually well made, and how much of the 2D game dev team could expand on these bosses.

    I love the koopalings with a deep passion and they inspire me to make my own Koopalings for my own game when I was younger but I alway hate how they have ok boss fight to terrible boss fight. People complain about their boss fight But truth that's not their fault is the developers who not making any creative ideas for them and I know that people hate them which I don't blam you but for me I would to see the koopalings to be giving a chance to have better bosses because I never play a 2D mario game before and hope I can have chance to battle my favorite mario characters.

    As a fan of the Koopalings, I honestly think they shine best when they are protagonists instead of bosses. For example of what I mean is Bowser Junior's Journey, that was really good and let their personalities shine very bright. Many people think _the Koopalings_ as characters are the problem and that they "need to retire from the franchise" but people who say this fail to look at what the Koopalings CAN be, the kind of potential that the Koopalings truly have. They fail to realize the issue with them in NSMB games is how they're used, not the characters themselves. Even then, people jump the "overused" bandwagon on the Koopalings when they've only been in three NSMB games, and not much after, following their return. (Boom Boom and Pom Pom are better examples of overused, not in the franchise as a whole, but in the individual games they appear in. Super Mario 3D Land, for instance, is the worst Mario game I've ever played, and, unsurprisingly, has the worst boss lineup of any Mario game, ever, maybe with the exception of Super Mario Run and the original Super Mario Bros, maybe, that I don't think is even subjective, that's just counting how many unique characters there are as bosses in those games. SMB1 had a bunch of fake Bowsers and Bowser, which is understandable for the fact it was the first platformer in the series, I heard Super Mario Run just repeated Boom Boom and then Bowser, 3D Land is similar but with Pom Pom added in.) While some people may still like the Koopalings as boss battles, I genuinely think what's best for them is them being protagonists in spin off games instead, something like another Bowser Junior's Journey and Minion Quest in particular, though gameplay doesn't have to be similar, I think the Koopalings should have their own spin off series like Wario, Donkey Kong and Yoshi got, because then their personalities can truly shine and as characters, the Koopalings can be the best versions of themselves, that'd be using them to their fullest potential, which most appearances they're in, if not, all appearances they're in do not use them to their fullest potential, which is a shame because they're really great characters with a lot of personality for each individual Koopaling, bits and pieces of their personalities can be found in the RPGs when they are more than just "the bosses of the worlds" but rather, written as characters (and sometimes entire personality traits, which Larry is mostly victim to, or random lines that show a returning personality trait are stupidly censored in the US or changed into something else entirely for like... no reason... so I have to look for Japanese dialogue in order to put together how the Koopalings should truly act and be portrayed like in writing). 2D Mario games, and Mario games in general, should have original bosses, unique or resized minions, maybe, depending on the game and whether or not the developers feel like making a unique boss design or just doing what they did with the original New Super Mario Bros on DS I guess.

    With this game, it would be so cool to see a giant Bowser bot with lazer eyes that make you smaller and then making the platform smaller but you have to jump on the robots eyes two times to make you big and jump on Bowser.

    I would love it if Fawful makes a mainline 2d appearance as the main villain. Maybe even be in Mario Kart 9 or Smash Bros. 6 for next Nintendo system! King Wart, Tatanga, Smithy, and etc. other obscure Mario villains also need to be recognized and featured in future Mario games and Mario spin off games. 🤞😍

      If they aren't bosses, and are maybe NPCs that show up in cutscenes or something with Bowser being possessed (I mean... he clearly is), then yeah, I'd want that.
      Mainly thinking of what I think is best for the Koopalings as of now, all things considered. I care a *looooooot* about them, I want them to be used in the best possible ways for them... which I believe would require emphasis be put on their personalities through dialogue. -I'm thinking Koopaling spin off games, but not sure we're ever getting that.-

      Or bring Pom Pom from 3D world into the 2D style, her ability to make clones would fit well with the wonder theme. Maybe even have different sized clones that grow and shrink like we see B Jr do in the trailer

      Yeah, his mainline game moveset (mainly in SMB3) does teach new players about spiked enemies, which I think that should be more emphasized in a later title. Reznor in NSMB2 can also teach new players to defeat enemies by hitting a brick under that enemy for another example. I can go for a while about how any of the Koopalings could be well implemented too, but that would be an unnecessarily long paragraph.

    Man, I feel so conflicted. On one hand, I love the Koopalings. I love their design and are good characters, especially in the spin offs. On the other hand, their fights in the New Mario games are a bit lacking. Best case scenario, they do return, but are changed similar to Bowser Jr. and have unique ways to beat them.

    I think the Koopalings are back but like Bowser Jr. will use the Wonder Flower in some way. But I also think it won't be too much different because a part of why they fight the same is because they wanted to separate them by making sure they had unique traits. Like one always having a circus theme with him balancing on a ball and using them in some way. In fact when I first saw the Bowser Jr. fight I thought he was Morton Koopa Jr. because he is usually depicted as a brute that focuses on using that raw strength. But that doesn't mean they can't also have unique bosses too.

    I want them to utilize the power of Wonder and have new attack patterns, and not just have them be beat by just 3 hits to the head. Make it unique for each, like Roy creates shockwaves that create projectiles, etc.

    I think mechanism of the boss fight in super mario bros wonder:
    1. Bowser Jr uses Wonder Flower powers at the start and cycles through the attack patterns on Mario
    2. The effect of this wonder flower can be varied: increasing body size, adding flying skills, increasing fire ball or modifying zones
    3. It looks like Mario has to wait until the duration is over to attack back by avoiding attack patterns or biting attacks so that Bowser Jr can finally release the wonder flower item
    4. And finally mario can take the wonder flower item and use its power to give real damage to Bowser Jr

    I want bosses that not only affect themselves with the Wonderflower, but also Mario. For example, the scene where Mario is rolling down a hill as a spiky ball, has potential to be a boss fight. Maybe they could have a boss fight where you chase after the boss as the spiky ball and try to run him over, while also avoiding crashing into walls which will break the spiky ball and kill the player inside. Or maybe a boss that makes use of the stretching Wonder Effect; the boss would stretch upwards, and could be used as a platform to grab something off the ceiling to hurt it. Maybe there could even be a boss that you fight on top of the Reznors, seeing as the flagpole got knocked over by them anyway, it would make sense if it was because there was a surprise boss at the end of the level. Perhaps as a more minor boss, they could have a boss that utilizes the pipes that go up and down. Or another boss that utilizes the silhouette mechanic. Or maybe another that utilizes the rolling hippos and chases you trying to bump you into spikes. Super Mario Bros. Wonder has so much potential to breathe life into boss fights in the series. You could even say it’d be SUPER WONDERful if they made the boss fights good again.

    The koopalings have definitely been overused and underdeveloped. Here are some ideas!
    1. I'd love to see a moving boss stage where you have to keep up while dodging attacks. I imagine something like an airship or pirate-ship chase. I just want Mario vs pirates because I've been wanting that since playing my first Mario game.
    2. Seeing the koopas and wiggler in roller-skates makes me want to see a whole boss battle centered on that concept.
    3. Since we know that there are levels with foregrounds, a boss battle with that feature would be cool too. There's probably going to be a boss that acts like Nintendog for no reason if that's the case.
    4. Mario boss battle... but with MECHS!
    5. A boss battle with MULTIPLE bosses would be cool too. Maybe if each of the koopalings did something differently with combined wonder effects would make for an interesting fight to say the least. Depending on execution of course. If not the koopalings, maybe a new twin boss that also have different wonder effects.
    6. Elephant Mario vs Elephant Boss
    7. Another idea is a boss battle where a wonder effect stunts your moves (like jumping) so you have to beat them in a unique way. Like if Mario's fist grew disproportionately large and couldn't move, so he has to swing it at the boss. Maybe Mario is turned into an enemy and has to beat the boss Odyssey capture style.

    9. What if one of the wonder effects changes the art style and Mario has to fight differently depending on the style? For example: Cartoon (50s), Picasso, Abstract, Realism, 8-bit, Paper/Oragami, Claymation, Hieroglyphics, or Nihonga.
    10. A boss battle that is literally a food fight with a chef.
    11. What if there wasn't a boss battle, but a boss challenge? Like if a boss challenges you across the arena or level to collect all the purple coins or something instead of fighting him. The boss tries to take yours and you have to steal them back to win (like the Mario and Luigi mode from New Super Mario Bros. DS). Then the boss lets you pass or something when you beat him. Maybe not all bosses work for Bowser and just want to test your worth/skills.
    12. Having Bowser's fireballs move any faster is a win in my book tbh.

    Something else that I hope this game dose is character specific power ups kind like the super crown from nsmbud but each character get one like Mario's could be the elephant, Luigi's could be the poltergust, Yoshi's could be similar to his transformations from Yoshi's Island, and the one for Toad, Peach, and Daisy could be brand new. Also I hope each character has their own move set.

    The Chain Chomp Boss fight for me actually got pretty difficult once it started going really fast but I admit that most of the boss fights in the New Super Mario Bros. games were a little bit too easy. There just wasn't any difficultly in them

      unless you were a kid i remember having fun finally being able to defeat the bosses from new super mario bros wii and ds mostly because i was a kid so at that point in time they were relatively hard

      @esdeaththeicegoddess5482 Yeah, I had a little bit of trouble on the Lary Boss fight in Super Mario Bros. Wii when I was a younger but I still got through it pretty easily but I could see all the boss fights being harder for younger kids

    The Koopalings NEED more unique battles, NSMB Wii and NSMB2 completely ruined their reputation. Wonder needs to do something more unique with them like NSMB U did. With actually unique attack patterns and cool different mechanics.

    I haven't played NSMBU very much, but the Reznors in SMW were a very difficult boss battle, so it looks like they got easier.

    I’m surprised you haven’t made a video about Super Mario Rpg yet... even if you’ve never played it yourself you can’t deny that this might be the biggest pivotal moment that’ Mario has had in over 10 years. Depending on how this game turns out, paper Mario and potentially M&L can have returns to form. A game like Mario wonder will come and go... but Mario Rpg is a huge deal for the future

    At 10:24 I dont think this is actually a boss fight at all. My guess is that this bowser JR cannot actually be hurt or at least be killed. If you look at it, bowser Jr turns big and Mario becomes TINY not just small. In pass Mario games, Mario can get a really big jump boost when ground pounding an enemy. And with the two pipes at the edges of the screen I almost think that you are meant to travel from the pipes from room to room. Now I dont know if the idea of this room is meant to make the player go forwards or if its meant to be kind of a “haha you picked the wrong room, now try and get out”. But yeah I honestly don’t think this is a boss

    I don't mind the Bowser Jr fights in the town/airship because they give you a challenge on what platform you're standing on and what items they give you for the fight. But with the Koopalings however they are so BORING to fight like don't get me wrong New Super Mario Bros. Wii's castle bosses were fun and they give you a challenge but in the other titles were so boring and not fun to fight. I'm really hoping to see original boss fights like how New Super Mario Bros. DS did in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

    I have no hate for the Koopalings, but their boss fights are so lame. Jumping on their heads 3 times is so boring. I hope that Super Mario Bros Wonder has some better boss fights than the previous 2D ones.

    I enjoy the concpet of the koopalings but they need better fights like they should return if the fights are good for example lemmy the weakest can be Much larger and shoot mystery balls then he like shrinks and spam shoots bouncy bombs and like lemmy at world 4 or 5 or 6 or7 like he needs to be much harder and iggy could have like chazzars that come from the background and he shoots green orbs that have a ramdon speed.

    i hope we do get new boss battles just like from New Super Mario Bros DS but I swear to god if they use the Koopalings again they have to do something to make them better and not boring like maybe have them block Mario's attacks when he throws fireballs just like Bowser Jr or maybe like a chase battle where you have to chase them down and take them out or something like that but it would be cool seeing them when they're like corrupted just like Bowser Jr but I would love to see new boss battles instead of the Koopalings in Super Mario Bros Wonder if Nintendo does listen to the Nintendo fans cause we can't have The Koopalings in every single Super Mario Bros Game their has to be new Mario Boss battles instead of them you know cause it's getting annoying at this point

    You have to realize that the old school Mario players like me at age 42 are the old and we have the new now. Times have changes where Mario games are more kid friendly sort of speak. Back then with Super Mario World for example, the main example really... Half of the Koopaling's are defeated by knocking them into the lava or they wind up in the lava. We never thought of nothing of it back then, but someone did. The new Super Mario World just requires a stomp on the head until they are knocked out, then they come to and jump off screen... A more kid friendly approach. All mainstream Mario games tend to have brain teasers like The Forest of Illusions. Oh the time I had with that in 1992! Everything is more straight forward and easier for young minds. In fact, Japan have a few old Mario games that was never released outside of the country that they deemed too hard. These people are the kings and queens of gaming at that. Anyway, your rants are dead on, but everything is strictly for kids now and that is why Mario games these days are not that challenging for most developed minds. They can be a family venture, but mainly targeted or simply put Rated E for everyone.

    Honestly I don’t see where SMB Wonder changes the core 2D Mario principal. You go in a level and reach the flagpole. You jump on enemies to kill them. You still have power ups. There are pipes, question blocks and bricks. Yea there is a new artstyle and there are new enemies, but that is not enough for me. The 2D Games Are just lacking in creativity. The 3D Games Are just Miles better in every way and way more creative. Also the Wonder flowers are kinda cool but for me it just seems like a level exclusive gimmick like in every 2D Mario. For example in a level there are mushroom Plattform that change in size and move a lot. Now with a wonder flower we have a section where Mario, enemies and the environment vary in size on certain button inputs. Sure it’s new and creative, but still more of the same.
