Lake Michigan Salmon Fishing in a Small Boat Adventure III

- Mike watched some of my videos on Facebook, followed the School's Out Page, and asked if I'd like to fish aboard his 17 foot Alumacraft. I am always up for chasing down some salmon, and we did alright, though we didn't get the big one we were looking for. Mike did a great job explaining what he likes about his Alumacraft and how he set it up for fishing the Great Lakes!

Can't believe this was almost two years ago! In the video I say I don't have a boat, but guess what!? I bought one! Check out a tour of it here! ua-cam.com/video/PnYn5s7_yyE/v-deo.html
Hey man do you post on Fishbrain under the same username? I just moved to Wisconsin and have got the salmon bug and a 2012 Lund 17’ boat. I am gonna be going out of Sheboygan and port a lot this summer. Let’s network
Nice set up I could try that on my new boat! I wish I could get out with ya, just have to find the time!
You're welcome any time man!
I sure do @ljungberg3. Sounds good to me man!
Oh shoot! I was going to invite you to my new 19’ Lund to see if you’d show me how to catch these fish!
Nice job. The only thing that I would recommend is if you could please show your setups. I'm out here in the Pacific Northwest and a lot of what you shown would apply out here. Ive got a Starcraft SuperSport 16 which is only 1 foot shorter than what you have. Showing things would've helped me reconfigure mine.
Tight lines! 😊😊😊
I’ll try to do my best in the future! 👊👊👊
Great video. Nice info on the rod holders.
Thanks man!!! 👊👊👊
Mike is a great guy to fish with
Fishing with friends.. looks like alot of fun. Everythings more fun with friends.
I’m seeing 8 rods in the water and 3 guys in the 17’ boat. Isn’t it 2 rods per person and 4 is too crowded in a 17’ boat?
3 rods per person, three people in the boat. I think we were running 9 lines. 4 people is manageable in the boat but it’s tight. Thanks for watching and commenting and making sure we weren’t breaking any laws.
Monster catch man, there something so serene about being at sea.
Awesome catches. You really lucked out with that trip.
Nice catches! Thanks for sharing
Still showing my bradda wonderful video
Good job bro
I need to get some rod holders. Great excitement! Beautiful fish. 👍🍻
You don't think the excitement was a little over the top?
@@PlayinHookySportfishing not at all.
So is the rear engine providing thrust while you are steering with the gps trolling motor? Or are you only using the gps trolling motor?
I’ve seen guys do either
Very cool video my friend
Awesome video, again! Looks like you all had a blast. Amazing how people in the fishing community come together. Maybe I can join sometime! 😉🐟💪
Maybe if you play your cards right!
@bryburns31 How much you want for it?
bryburns31 This comment should win the 2019 weirdest internet trolls contest!😂
This is a really beautiful video, nice editing. Thanks for sharing. New friend here. Have a wonderful day!

I fish with a friend out of his 17’ Crestliner and he does well with it, I’m setting up my 17’ Alumacraft to also Salmon fish, if you ever get over to this side of the pond, it’s a possibility to take you out!
Nice fishing fellas!
Oh heck yeah! I'll keep that in mind!!!
Question so I'm a beginner for salmon trolling and tips on a solid setup I have a smaller boat also tks ?
Cool video my new friend 4 ever here ! From island life !
New friend here. Excited to take this journey with U. It was great that U catch some.
the very first question you asked he completely ignored lmao. funny stuff
LOL - Glad you enjoyed it. Would you mind clicking the thumbs up button to show others that you like it? Thanks!!!
You should be on bumble or tinder rather than on lake. Is he running 4 dipsys off 17 ft boat and 2 riggers. Alot nicer than my setup
Yep, 4 divers and 2 riggers. Just added a set of trees as well so lots of good options for running lines!
Can run 2 riggers 4 divers( double divers) and 6 boards off the trees on my 18’ tyee. Small boat tall trees to get the boards up and out for a wider spread
Awesome video, new to your channel
Thanks for dropping by Vabasser! I've got a lot of videos like this one!
You have a awesome channel 👍
Apparently I missed this video while I was in the Mountains!
I guess so. It's a bit different I guess. Was really hoping to get a giant one that night.
Playin' Hooky Sportfishing Any Salmon is worth it in my opinion 👍
How do you make sure the weather and waves are safe for this type of fishing boat? What are you recommendations as far as maximum waves and swells for a boat like that? I'm hurting to get my 16 ft aluminum Lund boat out there, but intimidated as to what the boat can handle in Lake Michigan. Thanks for any feedback and great video.
Great question. I use noaa website (or Google nearshore marine forecast Sheboygan) which is generally pretty accurate. Windfinder.com is also really helpful for me. Generally if the wind is going to be out of any easterly direction over like 13 or 14 I’m not going to have a fun time in a smaller boat, and straight north or south reallly aren’t going to be much fun either. If the wave forecast is for more than two foot waves I don’t usually want to be fishing in it, but I know a lot of guys that will fish 5-6 footers. If you’re just getting started, I’d recommend that you don’t push your luck. Lake Michigan takes some getting used to. A rolling wave is a lot gentler than chop. You’ll have more chop at the start of high winds and you’ll have more roll when wind is dying out. Compare forecasts from a couple different sources if it’s looking iffy. I still use weather.com just to get more info if needed, but its definitely lower on the list. Thanks for the kind words! Hope to see you on the water!
New friend here awesome channel
I noticed you had a mount that held the trolling motor head from bouncing, what kind is it?
It's a RAM mount fixed to an Alumatrac bracket. The mount on the trolling motor side is a part # RAP-400U, the you just need the right length arm and other mount specific to how you'd mount on your boat. Hope that helps!
@@mikeleahy794 awesome thanks
Mike is a great guy, thanks very much for fielding that one pal!
Great night on the water!
Thanks for checking it out efish!
I miss fishing the big pond went almost every weekend when I was a kid

Hey bud got a couple questions.. I'm start to troll next year and I want to kno if ill b good with a 16-18 foot jon boat and how far depth wise should I go in lake Michigan
Should i run dipsys since im a newbie and wat setup should i use ? Tks
Pop a ton of rod holders on that thing. Make sure you watch the weather and equip yourself with a marine radio as well as all required safety features and you can take a 16-18 footer anywhere. If you're just starting out, I'd recommend slide divers.
I love watching these fishing lake Michigan videos fishing out of a small boat! Gives me hope some day I'll be out there with my tiny boat. 😄
The whole time we were fishing together I kept thinking about how you could rig up your boat!
I just grab you fam just saw you in the live stream
did you use a downrigger? will dipsy diver work just as good?
Sometimes divers work better. Gotta mix it up.
I love that you yell every time you’re hooked up 🤣🤣
Too much yelling, especially reel reel reel. Duh,
Hi I have a nice 18 foot Lund do you want to talk more and possibly go fishing
