Let's Melt Some Lead | Sinker Pouring Tutorial for Big River Catfishing

Different type of video than usual on this one but I have been too busy with other things lately to really get in some quality fishing time. Figured I would show you all how I go about making my fishing sinkers since I had some old nets starting to pile up. If you are buying your lead from bait shops or retail stores, do yourself a favor and STOP. You are getting ripped off! Either buy from somewhere like eBay (where you can get much better prices) or learn to melt lead through the methods discussed in this video. It will save you a TON of money, especially if you are serious about catfishing (and good at losing sinkers too lol)!

I lay my molds over the top of the pot when it’s heating up it slowly brings the temperature up on the mold. Learned that trick from my dad casting bullets

When I do my pouring I'm also doing multiple different styles and even do bottom bouncers for walleye and jig heads for for the crappie and walleye

I went to Goodwill and bought a big toaster oven to put the molds in to heat them up. I just leave the door open and set the molds in it. I think it cost $10.

Do you smooth out the opening of the weight so it doesnt fray the line? Or is that not a problem? Id buy those. I think basspro is able to pay their employees salaries with the amount of money i spend on their expensive ass weights

Do yourself a favor and never buy that stuff again lol. Absolute ripoff.
I use sinker sliders so the metal slide takes all the damage and none of it (in theory) effects my line.
