From the music to the graveyard to the actual aesthetic of the boss and the background story of his daughter and wife, plus the use of the music box it’s just a certified classic in my humble opinion. Hey man awesome as always! You're right on the nose - as soon as you hear the parry noise dodge straight at the enemy. Make sure you're kind of walking into the enemy head or tail on before attempting the visceral otherwise sometimes it doesn't register quite right. It doesn't matter if you just got hit (unless of course you died) because you will be doing so much damage with a visceral (critical) that you will always gain all of your health back because of the rallying mechanic. Also, if you have the time to do it, a full heavy attack to a weak spot will always stagger a boss. In the case of pretty much all smaller enemies and hunters (which Father Gascoigne is a hunter, just like you) the back is their weak spot. Some of the other large bosses and enemies have different weak spots, usually in the head or glowing/bandaged arms/legs. Oh and it's hard to get in the right headspace for this since Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Demon's Souls are all so much more about timing hits and blocks, but just as lots of people have said before, Bloodborne is an EXTREMELY aggressive game. There are several bosses that have sweeping attacks that punish dodging backwards. Being face to face (or even better, face to butt) with the enemy is usually the best position. With the exception of a few bosses, of course. Doing awesome love hearing how much you appreciate the best game ever to grace humankind! Father Gascoigne is definitely a hard fight, even as someone who's played through multiple times!
As a lot of people have pointed out, Bloodborne is a game that really wants you to embrace the parry and rally mechanics (rally being the mechanic where you have that window to get your health back when attacking). In Elden Ring parrying wasn't emphasized and had kind of been replaced by guard counters. Which is one of the many ways Elden Ring was made a bit more accessible to newer players. Also, tip: The Great Bridge where you fought the Cleric Beast is great for farming blood vials early game. Start at the lamp and murder the ogre, the crows, and the werewolves, and rinse and repeat. But there's good news! In the mid to late game you get so many blood echoes from killing enemies that you can buy a shit ton of blood vials at once and never have to worry about farming again.
Good job dude. This boss is the true trial by fire for bloodborne. IMO, it really teaches you the hard lesson that this isn’t a normal souls game. I really appreciate when games force you to adapt your play-style in a “show, don’t tell” manner instead of throwing info at you in a lame tutorial.
I’m so excited you’ve made it past the first part of the game. Now you’re in! This is gonna be one hell of a playthrough!! Amazing work with all the editing as allways. 🔥🙌 Peace!
I am loving this series SOO much man Gascoigne puts me so on edge😭 the first time he transforms is absolutely insane. I never saw that coming. A++ content I am gonna look forward to these episodes every time
I’ve genuinely never been more excited for a series. Watching someone experience Bloodborne for the first time is truly a magical experience. I said this in one of my longer comments on your last Elden Ring video but you ABSOLUTELY MUST do the DLC… It’s for higher level characters tho so don’t jump into it as soon as you’re able to. And believe me the music gets even better… Enjoy this series bro, you’re smack dab in the middle of an experience you can never have again, your first play through of Bloodborne is an incredible thing, happy hunting.
I forgot how good the voices & sound design is in this game!!! Also that final fight with Father G was sicccccckkk! Appreciate you as always brother! Let's get these subs up folks!!!! 💯💯💯
Hello Matias! I just randomly discovered you today through my recommended page, and I have been loving the Elden Ring playthrough. I look forward to watching all of your other content as well. You deserve way more subs, because you are a joy to watch, and I especially love how chill you are. A lot of UA-camrs are super dramatic, over the top and in your face with their energy and telling you to "smash the like button" and crap like that, but instead of all of that, you just have a quick intro explaining the video and then you get right into the gameplay, and I love that. I can't really explain it, but I just really like the vibes I get when watching you. Thanks for the great content!
honestly my favourite bloodborne playthrough i have ever watched. And that saying alot since bloodborne has been out for so long and i've watched an unhealthy amount of playthroughs over that time and this is only the third episode
The fact that you're able to recognize what you need to solve in your approach is impressive, you didn't make the same mistake too much to the point where you'd cause yourself to get frustrated. Good job, enjoying the playthrough. 👍🏻
Absolutely killing it so far bro! I had a feeling you were gonna love Gascoigne, he’s basically like the perfect starter boss for this game and is for sure one of my favorites as well! It’s great to see you learning the mechanics of this game and just having so much fun playing it! I appreciate you my brother for always bringing more light into my days with your videos, you’re a real one!💜
Father Gascoigne is a skill check on players to see if they are atleast trying to master the pistol parry, you can parry Gascoigne straight to the grave if you time the shots right, if you don't parry at all then this fight is gonna be painful.
What a crazy boss fight Father Gascoigne is ...at least you figured out the music box trick...I had no idea I could use it the first time I played this game. Needless to say it took me quite a while to progress past this point.
Happy you were randomly recommended. EZ Sub. As others have said, these games you can only experience for yourself once, but watching other people play them is close to that feeling. Bloodborne is my favorite souls game, both game play and story. Gotta do DLC too! Excited to watch this whole series!
The fact that you wait until the very last moment to heal sometimes makes me SO nervous! xD I truly agree with you: the OST in this game is just epic, my favourite from all of From's videogames. Congratulations on beating your first true Bloodborne boss! ;)
I'm glad you're enjoying this game, I tried it a couple month back but it just didn't click. This series is making me want to give it another go. Anyways good vid as always!
You're absolutely right about the Gascoigne fight, Mati. The combination of the setting, music, backstory and lore make it the perfect boss fight. Werewolves also give you good blood vials. Later in the game it's better to just buy them with echoes though, I found. Now off to Cathedral Ward, which branches off to so many areas. After you beat the game there are a couple of really cool maps of the layout of Bloodborne worth checking out. And belive it or not, Dark Souls 1 is even more interconnected than this!
Nice one my dude! You were right by the way, I saw somewhere that the boss arena was designed to encourage the parry use instead of dodging...something I didn't know, I was dodging around like an idiot the first time I beat him
The music box! Of course it has a purpose. Big brain moment right there Mr. Mati.🤯 I appreciate ER so much more now that I see how we have to run all the way back to boss fight every time we die in BB. Also I miss how “user-friendly” ER was back then when we have to hoard blood vials in BB now.🤣 Wow you really worked the parry magic there during the winning round - that sooooo satisfying to watch!👊 A 3D map for BB you say? My brain would be fried!😵💫 Amazing episode as always - I feel like you’re the only one that can make the dark & gloomy BB world so bright & fun.🥳
They dont happen often but when they do I gotta say it… big brain😎 HONEST Sam I totally didnt appreciate ER enough for that lmao that was really nice of em 😅 Dawe thank you man that’s my job ❤️ hehe
Man i just saw a thumbnail and i freakin jumped. ive been waiting for this fight since u killed Melania. didnt watch a video yet, but imma congratulate you in advance, i know you got this in the bag. keep playing, keep pumping out videos like this and ill come back every time, and so will many many others. Already cant wait for the next video, still havent started this one lol. Now lets go see how you demolished poor ol daddy G!
Love watching new player's playthroughs of Bloodborne, earned a new sub easily! Papa Guacamole is such a good first (non-optional) boss, but yeah farming vials if you mess up is never fun. It's a rite of passage for new players though, you earned that win! If you didn't get what the fight was teaching you, the strong forward momentum the boss has is supposed to be teaching you NOT to back off in fights, it's teaching you to dodge forward THROUGH attacks and be aggressive. It doesn't matter if you get hit, if you don't die you can regain some or all of it back. This game definitely rewards being very aggressive, but you gotta know when to pump the brakes, e.g. stamina management so you can dodge the enemy's retaliation. Can't wait for the late game, and the DLC if you have it!
Father Gascoigne is like the Margit of Bloodborne... and early boss that shows the player no mercy and sets the tone for the types of bosses you'll encounter. I both hated and loved this fight, like many Soulsborne bosses. You did very well!
just a quick tip, a fully charged attack from the rear will stagger an enemy, making them a prime material to a visceral attack. also, if you are going to try using viscerals. ill tell you now. leveling dexterity will up your visceral attack damage
I think it took me about 30 tries to finally get Father Gascoigne, so I think you did amazing. The little girls storyline is so sad. Thanks Mati for another great episode. The deeper you go into the game you're only going to love it more.
Awesome play! Father G. is one of the boss that's I had hard time fighting but it's all good once you know how to handle him and btw u got to play Nioh 2 one of the awesome game
I know beating Gascoigne was my first true soulsborne game achievement and it was amazing at the time. He took me ages to beat the first time but he is also the boss that helped me to finally understand the souls game formula, now all these years later I'd say I'm a pretty good souls game player now :). I'm far from being like some of these no hit run guys but I am able to hold my own pretty well :D. Glad your enjoying Bloodborne dude keep up the good work ^_^!
wow this games environment is so detailed.. it blows my mind to think how much effort goes into putting these fromsoft games together... awesome fight!
when the first phase is supposed to teach you how to not spam attack (but you already know that so you freaking demolished it) however the second phase is teaching not to avoid attacks by dodging backwards and instead dodge forwards/sideways (and you absolutely haven't learned that yet, so you get rolled almost immediately) 👌😂🤣 I love you this game!! ggs on that first attempt, quite well done
I was so stoked for you once you beat him, I have beat Elden Ring 12 times so far, and I do have Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 with both DLCs, but have yet to play them. I did play an hour or so of Bloodborne but my wife had gotten me Ghost of Tsushima and I spent months on it until Elden Ring came out. I plan to beat Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 at some point because I absolutely love Elden Ring. Anyways, good stuff man. Keep em comin and I'll keep watchin.
I'm glad that you appreciate BB's inter-connectivity, it started in Dark Souls 1. Also, Gascoigne is the first skill wall. You don't let him set the pace of the fight by playing passively, or he'll punish you. Phase 2 can be made a little easier by using the area you're fighting in to get around him.
Great job defeating father guacamole, he tends to be the first wall in bloodborne for most players, in my case was actually the next boss but still that was great. A good blood vial farming spot is he great bridge that you killed the cleric beast, the scorge beats(werewolfs) give you 3 vials each and the brick troll usually gives you 2 vials, thats 8 per run and you can reset quickly with a bold hunters mark. Another thing that you should check is the insight bath in the hunters dream near the windom of the house it has some good stuff, and always search for new bloodgems as they help a lot with your weapon damage. Also do you plan on finishing the DLC? it still far away for you but you should definitely play if you want the full bloodborne experience.
Damn good job with Father G! You were starting to get those parries off pretty reliably. Such a sad story with him and his family. Can't WAIT for you to get deeper into Yharnam! And yeah, the blood vial farming is rather jarring when you first start. The use of blood vials specifically is amazing when considered in the overall story of the game, but I personally think it's a weak point of the game mechanically. If I may make a suggestion for early game, if you're not feeling up to farming at any point along the way it can be handy to keep a few of the lower tier cold blood dews on hand for on-demand blood echoes to quickly re-up on blood vials. Though they're a limited resource and are generally useful, so entirely up to you!
PAPA G! My second favorite fight in this game - and my favorite for MOST of my first run until I reached the DLC. Right off the bat, his intro is SO chilling. This was the boss that taught me as a fresh new Fromsoft player how good Soulsborne was and why. I died 50 times trying to beat him for the first time and I have zero regrets. That initial victory was EXHILARATING. Then the actual lore surrounding him skewered me right through the heart and made me actually cry. I was SO ready to take on the rest of the game after that! ...Anyhow, I ramble. Well done, good Hunter!
I found out about you from your first Bloodborne video and man am I enjoying these. Oh yeah I highly recommend playing the dlc, the bosses in it are top tier Edit: I recommend not using the transformed version of the saw clever. The reason why is because it's slower and it doesn't hit as hard. But hey you can play however you want
I think one of my favorite things about Bloodborne beyond just its gameplay, design, and world is that it is essentially a horror rpg, which whether intentional on the developers' part or not is a very short-lived subgenre that really only has a few other titles such as Parasite Even and Shadow Heart that also fall into that category. Not to mention there's a style of horror in the game that becomes increasingly present as the story progresses that is not usually nearly as well-depicted and applied in media as it is in Bloodborne.
If you love the interconnectedness of the level you should definitely put Dark Souls 1 on your todo list. It's a lot of fun watching you play. You're doing great!
I'm glad you've become more attentive to Miyazaki's games. Talk to everyone and listen carefully to them. You figured out almost everything from the first playthrough about the Gascoin family (hopefully this time, no clues on the internet) dive into the worlds of Miyazaki, look for answers in them, and most importantly - find them in the most unexpected places. Gathering history in your head bit by bit... As Miyazaki does, no one else does. I'll be happy to see how you will pass the First Dark Souls and Sekiro. The first Dark Souls has the most amazing level design. And the philosophy and symbolism behind all the lore I like the most.
The similarities between Gascoigne and horah loux/Godfrey are so cool. From the cut scene closeup of their mouth blowing out steam to the axe to the beast phase where they both throw their weapons away.
your doing great, mate!! absolutely love the content and another content creator getting swalloed by the lovecraftian nightmare, that is bloodborne! :P A HUNTER MUST HUNT

Thank you brotha ❤️
I’ve been waiting since the last one came out for this, I love this series
Love to hear it man 👊
@@matiasgago when’s the next one? 🤞👀
Man true we havent actually had a proper tutorial hahah that’s hella cool 😂 This was easily one of my fav bosses to date! So freaking cool
I’m so excited you’ve made it past the first part of the game. Now you’re in! This is gonna be one hell of a playthrough!!
Amazing work with all the editing as allways. 🔥🙌 Peace!
Thank you as always Nils!
I am loving this series SOO much man Gascoigne puts me so on edge😭 the first time he transforms is absolutely insane. I never saw that coming. A++ content I am gonna look forward to these episodes every time
Dawee thank you Emma 🥹 I was so shocked by it too lmao just when you’re getting semi used to fighting another human… NOPE!
1:29 not a clutch moment Mati 😐
27:00 now this is a clutch moment 🙌
Nice one Mati, you are genuinely having fun.
(successfully parries) "Yeees!" (misses the visceral) "ggggggrrrraaa!!!" xD I feel that
🤣 so painful
I’ve genuinely never been more excited for a series. Watching someone experience Bloodborne for the first time is truly a magical experience. I said this in one of my longer comments on your last Elden Ring video but you ABSOLUTELY MUST do the DLC…
It’s for higher level characters tho so don’t jump into it as soon as you’re able to.
And believe me the music gets even better…
Enjoy this series bro, you’re smack dab in the middle of an experience you can never have again, your first play through of Bloodborne is an incredible thing, happy hunting.
Straight up! ENJOY THE JOURNEY! It’s a very unique one!
I forgot how good the voices & sound design is in this game!!! Also that final fight with Father G was sicccccckkk! Appreciate you as always brother! Let's get these subs up folks!!!! 💯💯💯
Bro they are unreal 😍 and thanks my man I appreciate you for being jere! Almost at 3K haha life is crazy
@@matiasgago lol indeed it is man! Indeed it is. Thanks for having us. 💯
Love to hear that my dude thank you so much for sharing that ❤️ Glad the algo brought you along for the journey!
I’ve over 1000 hours on this game and never knew you could use the music box on his human form.
Crazy how well this game holds up in its age as far as mechanics and graphics- keep it up Mati!
Completely agree! Does not feel as old as it is at all! Will do
Love your enthusiasm for this game. Love the end tune jingle too
honestly my favourite bloodborne playthrough i have ever watched. And that saying alot since bloodborne has been out for so long and i've watched an unhealthy amount of playthroughs over that time and this is only the third episode
Man I love to hear that thank you for sharing this!
Definitely awesome to see you committing to learning and getting better at the mechanics, you approach these games with great humility.
Most new people tend not to pick up on the fact using the music box before the beast phase actually makes the fight harder
Sorry I missed this lovely comment Kai! Absolutely love hearing that brother. Hope you have an amazing week ❤️
That final fight with Gascoigne was so intense! great vid man.
Love to hear it man! Thank you
Man that boss was though! Your winning attempt was epic to watch!
Crazy one hahaha! Happy to hear my dude
0q
Wooooohoooo let’s gooooo. Stoked to watch this on my break from work!
Woooo! Much love bro
The fact that you wait until the very last moment to heal sometimes makes me SO nervous! xD I truly agree with you: the OST in this game is just epic, my favourite from all of From's videogames. Congratulations on beating your first true Bloodborne boss! ;)
Hahaha I like to live on the edge 😅 and die 100x because of it lmao thank you so much excited for the ones to come plus more music!
Maaan bloodborne is my fav fromsoft game and your playtrought is the best i ever seen so far cant wait for more.
Love to hear that Lumi! ❤️
I'm glad you're enjoying this game, I tried it a couple month back but it just didn't click. This series is making me want to give it another go. Anyways good vid as always!
You so should brotha it has been amazing so far 😅 def a learning curve but I think its worth it
You're absolutely right about the Gascoigne fight, Mati.
Gun parrying is so fun in this game, I hope you get the hang of it. Then again it's badass seeing you beat up Father Gascoigne just with rolling
Nice one my dude! You were right by the way, I saw somewhere that the boss arena was designed to encourage the parry use instead of dodging...something I didn't know, I was dodging around like an idiot the first time I beat him
Thank you my dude 🤙🏽 The gravestones really get in the way of things lmaoo
viscerals as the first attack. :)))))) goodness you learn and adapt fast xD so excited for the rest of this boss fight
Big W against that boss! Keep it up, the journey just gonna get crazier!!! YEAH CRAZY ASH FREAKING MATI!!! LEGGO!!!!!
Hell yeah thank you brother charlie!! WE JUST GETTING STARTED hahahA WOO!
That last parry on the beast form was great. Well played.
Welcome to the true bloodborne, brotha! Great job so far!
Thank you so much bro! 🤙🏽
This is so awesome to be seeing someone react this absolute gem of A game. Loving your reaction and playthrough man!
Love to hear that thank you Its too good 😅
Man i just saw a thumbnail and i freakin jumped. ive been waiting for this fight since u killed Melania. didnt watch a video yet, but imma congratulate you in advance, i know you got this in the bag. keep playing, keep pumping out videos like this and ill come back every time, and so will many many others. Already cant wait for the next video, still havent started this one lol. Now lets go see how you demolished poor ol daddy G!
Love you acid❤️
@@matiasgago keep spreading love and these amazing videos bro!
@@acidnave will do my man!
33:09. “You look like you could use some nutrients” lol
I'm a grown ass man and I hit an out loud "YES!" with both my hands in the air when you beat him. SUBBED.
Lets go man! Appreciate the enthusiasm hehe
Nice video, you are a really cool dude
I think it took me about 30 tries to finally get Father Gascoigne, so I think you did amazing. The little girls storyline is so sad. Thanks Mati for another great episode. The deeper you go into the game you're only going to love it more.
No thank YOU Jim haha! I can see that, it only gets better 😍
Same here Matt I have never experienced anything like it, it is so damn cool! 😍
when the first phase is supposed to teach you how to not spam attack (but you already know that so you freaking demolished it) however the second phase is teaching not to avoid attacks by dodging backwards and instead dodge forwards/sideways (and you absolutely haven't learned that yet, so you get rolled almost immediately) 👌😂🤣
I love you this game!! ggs on that first attempt, quite well done
I hear DS 1 connectivity goes crazy! I'm super excited for it
this music gives me ptsd man😭 loving your playthroughs! the editing of your videos is *top tier*
Appreciate you brotha! Yes I an planning on playing the crap out of that DLC! :D
18:08 oh yes, the lock in, the biggest enemy of all, just after gravity and yourself.
Parrying is your best friend in this game. Gascoigne becomes a piece of cake once you get that parrying down. Get that timing down.
I really love how you start goin more and more aggressive, really is the point in bloodborne! VIOLENCE!!!
LOVE it 😈
"I need to grind some flasks"
*Goes in with one more than previously
I found out about you from your first Bloodborne video and man am I enjoying these. Oh yeah I highly recommend playing the dlc, the bosses in it are top tier
Edit: I recommend not using the transformed version of the saw clever. The reason why is because it's slower and it doesn't hit as hard. But hey you can play however you want
We'll make a parrying god out of you yet. Congrats my dude ^_^ nicely done.
😈
Hey bro, I'm from Portugal good videos, this game is fantastic you gained another subscriber
Love to hear that brotha welcome and shoutout to Portugal ❤️ Can’t wait to go one day
WOO been waiting for this papa g is one of my favorites bosses because of his story I am certain I will enjoy this upload
Hell yeah! Thanks for being here chief
Thank you so much man that one might actually be up next after BB haha we’ll see what the people choose
If there was ever a boss fight to teach why back-pedaling is bad, it's Gascoigne's beast form.
S Tier boss fight! Well done! Cant wait for more
Agreed! Thank you good sir
I'm glad you've become more attentive to Miyazaki's games. Talk to everyone and listen carefully to them. You figured out almost everything from the first playthrough about the Gascoin family (hopefully this time, no clues on the internet)
dive into the worlds of Miyazaki, look for answers in them, and most importantly - find them in the most unexpected places.
I love Bloodbourne just subbed keep up the great content 😎
Will do brotha! 😁
your doing great, mate!! absolutely love the content and another content creator getting swalloed by the lovecraftian nightmare, that is bloodborne! :P A HUNTER MUST HUNT
Thank you man love to hear that❤️
It’s just what hunters do ;)
you gotta watch the speedrun of this too. it defo made me feel like a fool for being so scared of gascoigne! hahah. another fun episode
Will do man that sounds fun 😅
@@matiasgago the dude is so calculated on the boss fights. R1 R2 staggers one more hit, Molotov repeat. Done. Really enjoyibg the playthrough so far, you're a very likeable fella and it's always fun to see people suffer on Bloodborne
Im glad to see you enjoy this game and i have a suggestion if you want to understand the lore you should read item description.i will be here waiting for more of your videos mate.keep up the good work 🍻
Will do brotha ❤️ Thank you!
Just finished, absolutely awesome with that visceral boss kill! Have fun
Thanks my man will do!
Can't wait for you to find Old Yharamn. May the good blood guide your way.
🙏🏽
finds the doggo shortcut..... "👀" soooo good. replayability is high.
Massive!
did not know about the tiny music box... I only recently played through bloodborne and have def. been a blunt instrument in my play
love the vids man keep it up
