I found that purchasing a robot vacuum has really helped me feel better about my home. I would much rather clean the corners after the vacuum than having to vacuum the entire space myself. Having clean floors not only looks better, but it also makes me feel better about my house. Good tips! Thanks.
Yup! A total game changer 🙌🏻 People always balk at the open shelving in my kitchen, but I swear I rarely need to dust it! My robot vacuum does all the heavy lifting every day on the floors so dusting is minimal.
When our three kids were super busy, I dedicated each one the INSIDE of a busy cupboard door (where we kept the coffee, plates, glasses) and everytime I opened those doors several times a day, I could see their schedules, permission slips, forms, etc. However before those schedules got taped up, their event went on the Mom Schedule (inside another supboard door) which was a grid with a column for each kid and I would just write "piano 4 PM", "football 4 PM at Elkhorn" etc. This same text went on my phone calendar. This helped our clutter (and forgetting things).
Good use of a bureau to hold shoes! Like the deep fuschia it was. Laundry accumulation: I emptied the bathroom vanity and found it was the best space to store my bag of laundry detergent plus all the dirty laundry. ( I am in a 410 sq ft seniors apt).
I have coffee maker, toaster and rice cooker on the countertop. I am pretty fortunate to have a utility room in the laundry room...but the big vacuum is in the garage. My entry way is one I cannot seem to really organize and I really need shoe cabinets but still not finding the most practical and one that can add character to the entry way. I don't have TV in the bedroom since I don't really watch Tv, I do everything in my desk top computer. Thanks for the other tips as always Julie.
I got rid of the rice cooker and now cook rice exclusively on my stove top. I love how easy it is, plus one less thing littering the countertops. Try it and let me know how different the rice tastes if you’re short on space 🤗
We have a formal dining room, which we never use, so that table and room end up as a dumping room. I need to re-imagine that room and make it something different.
I had a friend who had a dining room like this. She used it as a home office but I was reluctant to advise her to get rid of the dining room table and make it into a home office.
If I didnt already have a home office space I would totally do that. I am currently considering making it a huge butler pantry area @susanmercurio1060
I really enjoy the videos you post. Your examples and stories about your own home and family are always super relatable and *real.* I felt like you were describing my bedroom today 😅😅😅
Thank you for watching Timilisa 🩷 You’ll notice my posts are literally what I’m in the thick of these days 😅 I always want to promote a more peaceful home by getting our messes in order first! 🙌🏻
Hi Julie, this is a brilliant video!! Thank you! I’m trying to work on my bedroom and your tips are brilliant!!! Oh, one thing I meant to ask….duvet/quilt size. Should we size up? I have a queen size bed. I have purchased inexpensive bedding based on my bed size and have ended up with bedding that’s too small! Ugh!😩
Size up if you like the look of bedding pooling to the floor Barbara. That’s what a king would look like on a queen bed. If it’s a fluffy quilt/coverlet though, I would probably stick to the same size since the proportions are scaled properly 👍
I feel exactly the same way Christine. Your home can be the most inspiring space in your life. Treat it with respect and care and watch as it brings you peace in an already challenging life 🫶🏻
Hi Julie. Your vlog coincided with me decluttering ,cleaning and organising my mums kitchen and laundry room! I find I’m more productive if my home is clean and organised. I don’t like to have too much clutter on surfaces but it helps that we have a lot of built in storage. Definitely prefer the fridge doors to be debris free. We have a small notice board behind the back of a cupboard door for schedules, coupons etc but I’ve noticed that so much more is sent by email and forms submitted online that there is very little by way of paper these days. Thanks as always for the inspiration and tips. I’m off to do some more organising whilst I’m on a roll! ❤
Hi Julie, I agree with you completely I find overwhelming and stressful clutter and disorganised places 😢 I generally don’t have open shelves exactly for this reason I need to make my bed as well if my house is not tidy or clean drives me insane Very good content ❤
Love your videos. My favorite compliment of my home was from a feng shui consultant: Wow, your home is not as cluttered as most homes I’ve seen. 😂 I feel more at peace, & creative, when I see less stuff bouncing off each other. TG for our attic! 🤭
I needed this exact video today! My entryway and bedroom need some changes that they stay more organized. I have been so unmotivated to start tackling the problems.
@@JulieKhuu Did exactly that today!! Declutterred and took measurements for a new console to have a surface for keys, mail, drop off space and organization. Partial declutter of bedroom also today and decided on a seating bench with hidden storage. Slowly but surely. Thanks 😊
Try putting countertop items in boxes that you place adjacent to the kitchen (but within reach). Sometimes NOT seeing a cluttered countertop helps you rethink of better places to put things.
Oh no! I got rid of that clothes chair/clutter spot. I put a hanging rail on the back of my open bedroom door for any clothes that are still clean enough to wear again🤔
I really don't miss those days when I had kids in school and the end of the kitchen bench became a general paper pile with mail, school notices, junk mail etc. No matter how often I went through it, the pile never seemed to get smaller - the amount of paper a kid brings home from school is ludicrous.
I have a box that I keep in our sideboard for all of my daughter’s schoolwork. I plan to take photos at the end of the school year and make a photo album for her to keep. One for every school year. That way, we keep the memories, but clear the clutter 🙌🏻
I couldn’t believe the crap that I stored away in my garage and didn’t even need! 🤪 Once I committed to carving out space in my garage for a dedicated studio, the amount of things I “store” became less and less. Now I display my items in plain sight and feel less of a need to hide anything away! Trays and baskets do the trick for in-house organization babe!
I had to finally invest in an outdoor shed to store all of my decorations and seasonal items. It was $400 but worth it to help clear the clutter from my interior space. You can find inexpensive tower ones for $100 on FB marketplace or OfferUp!

My whole house! I just moved and can’t even get my furniture in until the floors are replaced. I’ll be grateful to get moved in next month. I will say, I’m a recent convert to making my bed every morning. It feels so good to climb into at the end of the day. I’ve also discovered that “clean as you go” is the best way to cook. I No longer have that sinking feeling when I put something in the oven and turn to look at the kitchen.
I live by the “clean as you go” mantra. I never spend more than 10 min cleaning up a room since it’s already pretty tidy. Even the kids’ area takes me 10min tops! Systems in place 🙌🏻
I live in an extremely small trailer. I have had to get ruthless with decluttering and very creative with my storage. You can do this! It takes more to not declutter and organize every day.
Invest in a larger dresser that spans the width of the wall/ your space. Employ 1 item that can handle the load of 3-4. You don’t have to buy new! I love FB marketplace for quality furniture.
