Sorry y'all I'll make sure William balances the audio better for the next 5 parts cause if he doesn't I will send Character Actress Margo Martindale to kill him
Schaffrillas Productions it’s ok
i got so excited when i saw this video i’ve been waiting for you to talk about it for so long
thank you!
Back in the 90s I wasn’t in a very famous TV show, as I am referring to the 1890s.
How much time there will be between each episode ?
When you realize that Bojack asking Diane if he's a good person is the catalyst of him making her responsible for his moral center. A position she NEVER wanted.
i never even considered that, holy shit you just blew my mind
I think Diane wanted to be a moral center, as evidenced by all the corralling and correcting she does. She just didn't realize what a responsibility that was.
Diane doesnt know what she wants
@@krm1930 to be fair none of them do thats kind of the point of the show lol
I guess you are right, but I just dont like diane, shes too preachy and acts like she is better than everyone else, when in fact she is on the same level as bojack, ok maybe not THAT low...

There's also Castlevania
A miniseries to rival any oscar winner.
The writing in this show is SO good that you forget their animals on occasion, which then makes the animal jokes funnier cuz you’re hit with “oh right there animals”
I know right? It's hillarious!
My favorite gag is when someone mentions they have pests and it cuts to the anthropomorphic versions of those pests
You used all the types of "their", "there" and "they're" wrong, it's your MAIN language, how do manage to do that?
@@Lrizu how do you know it’s their language? Pretty ignorant.
@@gwendolyn2442 because when someone is speaking a language you assume it's their native language, if i go to america and see racists speaking english, i assume it's their native language, if i go outside my house (that's my country) and i see some people drunkenly yell me to go back to where i live in english, i assume it's their native language
Did anybody else notice that Bojacks daughter in the drug trip looked almost IDENTICAL to Beatrice’s doll?
OH WAIT
DOGGY DOGGY WHAT?!
...oh
Frillian Puspa Dewi Haha
He wished Beatrice loved him the way she loved that doll
i’m so mad that they never ACTUALLY revealed if Vincent Adultman is 3 kids in a trenchcoat.
Or alternatively revealed he was actually a tall lanky dude with a pot gut and one hand. Who's a successful business man and a loving father to his son Kevin.
@@rinddon honestly I'm shocked they never went down this route. It feels like something the show would 100% do
It was clearly two kids, not three, but the show kept saying three even though there was only enough space for two
@@gumtree541 my head canon is that he was revealed to be 2 kids in a trenchcoat, Bojack is ignored for thinking there were 3 kids, and everyone is lile, "Who knew? Where were the warnings?"
What are you talking about? Vincent Adultman is just a guy and a fine looking one at that!
Wait a minute
Is that the horse from Horsin' Around???
Holy shit! It is!
what is this, a crossover episode??
There was a horse!? I thought it was just "Around" am I crazy???
Doggy doggy what now?!
wazzap batches
Pretty sure the Vincent Adultman storyline was there to showcase Princess Carolyn’s inability to have an adult relationship, even though she insists she can. It’s more than a running gag, it’s actually a minor character arc. even if it’s not consistently funny it still has a purpose for the character development and the story. Also funny little rascals haha
I strongly agree, it’s reminiscent of what she says to Bojack when she calls him out on wanting a mommy he could sleep with. She doesn’t know how to handle a relationship where she isn’t constantly putting out fires and accommodating a child (I.e. Vincent using her to watch R-rated movies and buy alcohol).
"Finally we are introduced to Diane Gwin"
You're going to give the entire Vietnamese diaspora a stroke
man even I know how to pronounce her name and I can hardly pronounce english
I know they're mispronouncing it on purpose cause one of the running jokes in the show is that no one pronounces it correctly, but STILL
The moment I heard that I stopped everything I was doing and went to the comments
@@RhythmLP bruh
I had to look it up and to be fair it is pretty confusing, as a) the show makes a joke out of it, because it is the most common Vietnamese surname and everyone gets it wrong and b) I think there are legit many different correct pronounciations.
Unpopular opinion: I actually like the episode about Diane visiting her family. Though not the best episode, it did show that it is alright to cut off toxic people from your life. That can include your family and maybe it's best not to continue to linger and keep on hoping for that person, friends, or family to change when you know they're not going to and you shouldn't feel guilty for not wanting to continue that toxic relationship with them.
Agreed. I also think the “Cryanne” plot point was really important for us to see in order to understand Diane’s character. It was a good and necessary episode in my opinion.
when i saw this comment i deadass thought i had left this comment and not remembered doing so
Another unpopular opinion: I really like the 3rd episode because I love hearing Mabel from gravity falls saying, “suck a dick, dumb shits.”
Wait people don’t like that episode?
I loved that episode because her family is hilarious
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who sat back after Princess Carolyn hit 40 and thought, "Woah. I actually care about these characters."
There is a 40 year old 2D Pink Cat Agent Lady in desperate need of a hug right now, and there is nothing I can do about it, and that hurts.
@@korialogo EXACTLY
that moment made me go "oh alright I gotta keep watching" and then the telescope happened so I HAD to keep going... then downer ending had me hooked for more
YES YES YES EVERYONE.Im shocked.I felt numb to almost any movies, you die, they die, whoever dies, okay(especially since im a fan of horror thriller genre) which actually explains why sad scenes cling to me more,it contrasts my taste but it leaves more impact.Bojack's series is not just *sad* its even better. And when i saw people who commented they wanted 'that character to have a good life atleast,im getting it now.
I think that moment really set off the "ticking clock" in the background for her in particular
Pain
I think Vincent Adultman was funny simply because it's such an overplayed premise (toddler pretends to be an adult by saying adult things) but it works. The joke is that this scheme actually fools the real adults in the show (except Bojack but still)
And it also was important to show how Princess Carolyn continued to lie to herself into believing Vincent is The One for her, despite the OBVIOUS issues... because she's still trying to believe that being in a relationship is the one thing that will make her feel satisfied with her life.
Just as she lies to herself about Future Ruthie, to make herself feel better. ☝🏻
@@wandanemer2630 I am not sure if that applies to Princess Caroline just as you described it. I actually think that it has something to do with Bojack, since he is the ONLY person to realize that it is in fact just three children stacked on top of another in a trenchcoat. But the other characters realize much earlier than Bojack, that HIS actions are completely fucked up, even when he thinks that they are okay. So what seems obvious to him, is more or less hidden for the rest, and vice versa. You could say that he lives in a sort of bubble in which everything is turned upside down.
I also love how every hallucination Bojack has during episode 11, is a part of his character and his fears. They arent just random for the sake of being creppy or weird.
Did it remind you of John Carpenter's The Thing?
This is a lot of praise for doing something pretty basic - using symbolism and meaning in a trip? Rather than just mess? Pretty sure that’s what all media trips have done, like, ever. It’s a basic tenant of writing to infuse meaning and not just waste time.
@@lazyacademic It was pretty clever and subtle tho. That's like being "Wow the animation is so pretty" and then you are like "Uhh duh! Every cartoon is animated" ...like no shit sherlock but there are degress. Not to mention that not every show has meaningful trips or imagery, probably most shows just put random nonsense in it that is there to be creepy or VERY on the nose.
As someone who can’t have a kid. Princess Caroline was such a important character to me.
Damn sorry dude
Fifth Doctor it sucks but I can’t change it.
@@bowl8307 of course she can adopt. But that's not the point.
Oh must be shitty sorry
I'm sorry.
I disagree that Diane's episode with her family is unimportant, but only because it contrasts Bojack's family life with her own. I like it a lot because it shows two different versions of abuse through the main characters, it never diminishes or says one is worse than the other, and only leads to more difficulties for them later on. Maybe its not as important for establishing characters (you can get the jist of her story through her interactions) but its extremely important in how it examines our relationships with upbringing. (And how as adults they interact and process their abuse)
Yeah like this assessment really confused me, it was the first episode that had me intrigued at the show's darker themes. By contrast episodes 1-3 were a complete slog in my opinion, the Diane episode was where I started to actually get interested
I've heard people criticize this episode a lot, and while there are a couple beats I don't love in it, it's waaaayyyy better than episodes 1 and 3 and arguably 4.
Though for a Diane episode, Bojack has the best development to me. The way he instantly clings to familial attention like a starving horseman, but is still ready to tell Diane "family is a sinkhole" about that same family. It establishes their friendship and what Diane gets out of their friendship really well. I also think the humor works really well (Alison Brie's voice acting in the scene in the bar where Diane freaks out always kind of bugs me though).
It also helps us understand her attachment style to other people!! She seems to be fearful attachment which explains some of her actions later
Also, the B plot of the David Boreanaz house is hilarious and sets up some funny gags later in the series.
It establishes how Diane and Bojack end up being 'that person' to each other.
The best thing about the show is that it doesn’t be lazy and just go ‘hes unhappy because he is rich and famous’, rather if anything his celebrity fame and wealth just means that he is able to avoid the consequences of his actions and is thus not forced to truly reflect on them.
I also love the narrative that comes with this situation: "you were on TV and were a star and are now living a luxuious life. What more could you possibly want?"
And then you see why these things never bring you true happiness. Because you can't cover up self hatred with money and the peoblems won't go away. And even though you have the life so many would kill to have... you're still not happy...
I always felt like Vincent was a representation of the fact that Bojack was a man child and princess Carolyne dealt with him for so many years. The repeated fact that Vincent was a literal child, but princess Carolyne could not pick up on it was an analogy of how she dealt with bojack for so many years despite the fact that he was a man child himself. She could never see it. She always sought partners that she felt she could take care of, yet ended up with the one person that could take care of her after she was able to find a caring relationship that was not romantic (her daughter). I didn’t love Vincent adultman, but his character made so much sense. His character is kinda the reason why Jonah makes so much sense as her husband
Honestly I'm mostly disappointed that Vincent Adultman wasn't revealed to be legitimately an adult. Like the whole gag is "he's so obviously three kids in a trenchcoat, how does nobody else see it?" So to subvert things, make him actually be an adult would be funny.
That's a brilliant idea! After all, this show is partially about subversion, ain't it?
too predictable
_And then the opposite happend_
I feel like Vincent Adultman is there to make a point. The obvious kid in a trench coat is the closest thing this show has to a functioning person living the stereotypical adult life without any major personal problems.
same
i also love how Todd was asexual. as somebody who is ace he’s represented well, it’s incredibly accurate. and the coming out scene almost made me cry.
It's amazing!
Same!!!
So just cuz u got represented u feel good bout yourself

Just finished season one. Episode 7 with Princess Carolyn, "happy birthday, you're 40," floored me. Excited for more of these videos, so I can pretend like I'm in a book club.
yeah that moment went OOF! in my heart. Have you watched any more yet? :)
@@quinintheclouds I watched the entire thing. Season 2's "But you gotta do it every day, that's the hard part," and of course the entirety of The View from Halfway Down" are moments that come to mind.
I didn't realize Bojack was depressed until he said he was. I just thought that's how people normally are
Bro I think you're depressed
bro, i feel depressed
Depression is a fake illness, life is what you make it. Think about that, it's all a mental thing
@@conxoraddonahue9956 No, depression is stored in the balls actually.
ofc its a mental thing, where did you think it would be. depression is caused by lowering of certain chemicals in the brain, and the reason why that happens is either genetic or due to illness or high levels of stress.
Yes, life is what you make it, but like that doesn't mean depression and mental illness is fake because you say it is, it really can make life alot harder because when brains dont have the proper amount of certain chemicals, they dont work right, making it imperially harder for those people to do things, although depression itself is not an excuse
@@conxoraddonahue9956 lol this is what I told myself also but then I ended up hospitalized twice and have had multiple break downs trying to pretend I’m okay. It is a thing sorry, I tried telling myself it wasn’t real and I was just weak and bad at living but guess what, that’s a symptom of depression. If you did some research there’s actually science backing the existence of the mental illness, just look up, it’s actually pretty interesting
The only bad thing about this show is it’s hard to get people to watch it. The first season is not very good at least the first half isn’t and most people I know aren’t willing to give it that many episodes to get good. But that’s just their loss
My friends are to stubborn to give it a try, I recommended Bojack and they deadass kept asking me if he gets happy in the end....like...you gotta watch it to find out. u_u
Marcel Liu progressively gets terrible? Which one? The later episodes of season 1, or the later seasons?
Marcel Liu You know, I completely disagree with you, but I am too tired to argue, and I respect your opinion. Good day.
Marcel Liu that’s what bojack does to you, man
Marcel Liu ya dude I wasn’t gonna say anything but I’ve never thought of this show as predictable. Glad you’re enjoying
BoJack Horseman is the best Netflix Original.
At least we can say that Bojack Horseman had 6 great seasons, unlike something like Family Guy which is in its 18th season.
Bojack horseman and b99 I would say are amazing ...
Benjamin Fruechting can bigmouth just die?
Steam Dragon
It would be better if paedo-enabler Scarlett Johansson wasn’t in it.
Easily
The episode where we meet Diane’s family and learn what a shitty childhood she had is CRUCIAL to understanding Diane as a character who is an essential part of the show
Looking at this retrospective, as an abusive victim for over 70% of my life, I can confirm personally the episode where we meet Diane's family actually helps establish more alignment of how Diane is a sharp contrast to the rest of her family, and how the worst situations can create the best people. Yeah, the episode is about 25% filler, but it also highlights where BoJack bothers to *try* to be someone good to Diane, and actually help her grow past them.
The episode is less about filler, and more about you don't need to prove to your garbage family that you're good enough for the world, you need to be good enough to the world yourself, and it doesn't matter what any person who's made it their goal to degrade you thinks. - Live your life for you, the best version of you specifically, not for others. That message in the episode is subtle, but if you see it, it becomes something you can't unsee.
This is gonna be gooooood
Sooooooooooooo goooooooooooood
Ah, the second father is here.
Hello dad
Mhm
hey pawpaw
I bawled when I finally finished the show. The ending is very satisfying. Not happy, not sad, just ~okay~. It's not the perfect cookie-cutter happy ending because that's not life. It's so beautiful how it shows real life.
life is a never ending show
Life’s a bitch and then you keep living.
nooo i genuinely cried for like an hour, that last scene with bojack and diane was fucking heartbreaking
It was an incredibly unsatisfying ending. Made me think... “why did I actually watch any of this?”
A lot of people consider the penultimate episode to be the true end to BoJack and although I get why they would feel that way, it's too easy to finish it that way
Actually, the Rock Opera thing may be one of the actual worst things Bojack has done, especially when taking intentionality into account.
"Quentin Tarantulino" is probably the best thing I've ever heard in my life
Bro your profile is the best thing I’ve ever seen
I know so many people who refuse to watch Bojack Horseman just because "it doesn't look pretty" like you're missing out on the most realistic portrayal of mental health these days. Sorry you wanna watch Big Mouth instead :/
As someone who puts a lot of weight on the visual style of animation, the ugliness of this show was the primary reason I took so long to finally watch it. But once I started I binged the whole thing in a couple of days, it's one of my favorite shows ever! That being said, Big Mouth is also ugly as sin and its content just isn't good enough to make up for it in my mind lol. On a related note, why are so many adult cartoons so ugly anyway? Please, some people just want to have visually pleasing characters to go with the real life sadness
If you're not going to watch it, then you're not going to watch it. No one is forcing you to. I'm also not really part of the target demographic and it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. I kinda like the art style of it, I think it looks realistic (for a cartoon) and it goes well with the depression theme of the show.
You see, Star Wars The Clone Wars is visually appealing, emotionally packed, exciting, and doesn’t make you plummet into a deep depression worrying about fictional animal characters. That’s why it’s good
I don't understand how it doesn't look, "pretty." Like animation style wise or how it portrays heavy themes such as mental health?
@@ce3915 well, it's kind of the point actually, in western animation, you have o make it clear that a show is made for adults, generally it's done with a very ugly art style, constant mentions of drugs and sex and cussing, or else, it might be mistaken for a child's property, like what happened to that Teddy bear movie, because "pretty" western animation is generally related to children media, which is a pity, but this is being very slowly changed, the general audiences just arent ready for it yet
"Hey Wacky Horse! Say somethin' funny!"

One big thing about the show that I think gets passed over is how helpful to the story them being animals is. Not that it's a part of the story since BoJack could just be a human. But that you can have a darker story feel less dark, you can pull back just a little bit by having a talking horse. But if you had to watch a washed up guy in his fifties doing all this, it might have been a little too much. For an extreme example, there's a kid's movie I watched where the plot is the villains are kidnapping babies to eat them. I'm not sure you could do that even in an R-rated movie. How do they get away with that? Make them silly pigs stealing eggs from furious fowls!
Did you just make me see Angry Birds in a new dark perspective?

I hope they do another spin-off series showing Princess Carolyn and Judah raising Ruthie. I fell like it would be very interesting to explore, considering the fact that Ruthie's mom is a talent manager, which could lead to some fucking around on movie sets (which would be fun to watch), and her dad works at the same company under a different role, which could lead to Ruthie exploring VIM and messing around with it's employees. They could also delve into her school life, showing friendships, a love life, and potentially her growing distant with her family later on. It could be a really cool way to show the life of someone whose parents work with celebrities, and how that would affect one's childhood.
Also, I just really wanna see more of Judah and Ruthie. Those two characters were really under utilized imo. Very important, both of them, but we could've easily seen more of them.

People should seriously put this show more credit. This television show is probably one of the best experiences of my life, I am not even joking when I say that, because it shows my passion for good writing and gave me a glimpse of who I actually am too. I highly recommend anyone should watch.
I think everyone should watch it. Somehow, I feel like Bojack is a friend of mine.
The bad thing about this show is that it set the standar too high.
"the show ended in january" bruh I couldnt work up the courage to watch the final season until LAST WEEK, the show never ends if you never finish it.
I finished it a few weeks ago. A friend had to forcefully sit me down and watch it with me, lmao. i was so scared of it ending.
it's been like six months that I stopped watching missing 2 episodes for it to end, and I don't know if I have the courage to do it 😭😭😭
@@andrevicente4262 the last 2 episodes are definitely some of the most intense episodes but they wrap the series up in a really nice way, its sad that it has to come to an end but boy did they end it beautifully
Oh god, did the final season really happen earlier this year?!?
The view from halfway down was my favorite in the final season
I can't believe you didn't mention "bi-monthly curated box of snacks"
The part from season one that still pops up in my head now and then is Herb Kazaz NOT forgiving Bojack. I was hoping Herb wouldn't, but I learned from experience that TV shows tend to have characters bury the hatchet bc it is a form a resolution. The show set up that Bojack and Herb had a great relationship, a falling out, and now Herb had cancer and it was time to tie those loose ends.
And even Bojack and Herb bring it up: this is not a sit-com where we are obligated to tie loose ends in nice little bows. This was the moment I realized this show was going to be different. This was not going to be a show about Bojack becoming a better person. This was going to be a show about Bojack ruining people's lives in the worst ways possible and he was never going to get the resolutions he wanted to make himself feel better. Each season, I hoped that MAYBE things would start moving into a better direction for him, and even though they did in many aspects he was still left to feel empty.
During my freshman year of college, I went through a long period of depression. I didnt want to do anything. Everything felt so numb. The only thing I remember bringing me some joy was rewatching the show. I did it five times in a row. In retrospect, not the best choice but it still made me feel a little better. I felt seen, specifically through the character of diane.
I'm going through the same thing you went through; I took a break from college even though it was my first year but I just couldn't do it. I decided to go next year but still I just feel so .... numb.
I had a similar arc in my senior year of college and first year of grad school
I think I’ve been kinda feeling that way as well. Would you have any advice for anyone going through that situation?
@@nautilume7114 I would recommend writing out your personal feelings at least once a day. Its helpful to just get it all out. I also reccomend finding the small things that keep you happy and reminding yourself of them. You can also try little tasks that might make your day easier or better.
@@nautilume7114 don't ever run away from your problems or avoid them cause it'll always catch up with you. Face and endure the problems so that way you'll learn how to deal with them and not make the same mistake again. Enduring them takes a lot out of you so you gotta find things that make you feel more whole and keep going like a good support network, a hobby, or trying something new. Find a way to channel your feelings and emotions or just simply let it all out cause if you keep holding everything in, it'll eat away at you and the mental/emotional baggage will take a toll on your physical body. Don't be afraid of trial and error or asking for help. It's not always going to turn out well every time so you gotta beat the odds and try, try again. Make the best out of a shitty situation, find hope in a complete mess, and slowly grow out of the mindset your mental illness put you in. Keep going, endure the storm, it will get better. Good things take time and repairing yourself doesn't have a due date. Be patient and learn to forgive yourself. Learn to love life again. Get to know yourself better. Figure out your issues and learn how to solve them rather than constantly escaping. I swear yesterday I was just thinking about how despite the fact that you use it in your outros, I couldn’t recall a video you’ve done on Bojack. Strange timing
Nick Wemyss huh, I wasn’t even aware he did a video on Rick and Morty, my notification bell must be broke
I love the colors that this show uses in it's visual design. The saturated yet light hues feel very LA esc and, as someone with family living in LA, I really appreciate that
When I saw this video come out I decided to binge watch the entire Bojack horseman series before watching. I've never been so depressed in my life. Great series 10/10

I actually appreciate episode 3 with Sarah-Lynn’s intro because even though it’s gross and cringey, it’s what got my husband interested in the show because it unmasked the dark undertones and the style of humor and satire (like South Park) that almost hurts because it’s too real. I had watched all of these retrospective videos before starting the series myself, so I knew it would be good and thought-provoking but my husband wasn’t so sure from the pilots. Then episode 3 being too realistic about commenting on child actors and the corruption of Hollywoo(d) made him go “wow, this writing is actually really clever and is touching on really important topics.” And it was the first time we truly reacted in disgust like “no, Bojack, no no no” and he was established as the true anti-hero
Her name isn’t Margo Martindale
It’s Character Actress Margo Martindale.
Bojack horseman is the best show I have ever seen. And that’s saying a lot- the last few episodes were so terrifyingly great and the whole story with Sarah Lynn, Charlotte, and Beatrice were amazing! Please please go watch the show!!!

it looks like it would be just another sterotypical bad adult cartoon, but once it truly introduced the characters and plot, it became so much more.
i guess you could say....
it subverted my expectations?
Yes
Before I watched Bojack Horseman, I only heard of the show a few times. When I saw that little “parody” on family guy, all I thought was, “Oh, this is just another cartoon like family guy.” It wasn’t until my brother forced me to watch the show that I realized how wrong I was.
So? I was watching South Park at 12. You’re parents don’t need to know. Just find somewhere to watch it.
IN DEFENSE OF VINCENT ADULT MAN while i agree it can be one note at times, it does a great way of showing how princess caroline is looking for a partner she can take care of. She was always taking care of bojack professionally and in their romantic relationship so it makes sense these 3 kids in a trench coat go right over her head, because he resembles the "man child" she spent years with.
For anyone, Johnny 2 Cellos has made good in depth Bojack horseman video’s as well.
Incredible videos.

"Most heartbreaking moment in the show so far" you're gonna be saying that every season
I was friends with a bojack before. This show hits close because not only do I relate to all the characters in different ways both flaws and in their pain, but when bojack is told “I’m sorry shitty things happened to you but you can’t be shitty back to others” (not exact quote) it made me realize I shouldn’t be friends with said bojack in my life because they treated me shitty. I understood the pain but they refused to take responsibility and it drained me because my flaw came in when I tried to “fix” them. The rose colored glasses episode with Bojack and his gf at the time made me realize I shouldn’t deal with they’re shit anymore.
I may have lost child custody, but I still have my Raycon E25 bluetooth wireless earbuds! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't know if it's my favourite show but it is the one I treasure most! I really admire how the show's flaws are not lampshaded but contribute to the show's character

Bojack is one of the best things that happened in my life. The show kinda told me “stop feeling sorry for yourself, the world isn’t as you think it is”. And that started the long process of bettering myself.
" wanting to be good doesnt automatically make you good " i needed this harsh truth.
Not only are you addressing the impact, cleverness, heart, and emotion that this show conveyed, it's only PART 1. Thank you for taking the time to talk about it. I'm the only one in my friend group who watched it so it's really reassuring that I wasn't insane for crying and feeling emotionally attached to a cartoon horse.

Best show ever to be created, and my favourite, in my opinion. Bojack Horseman is honestly so good. It is so realistic, and so dark, yet right most of the time.
It helped me figure out some stuff, and I thank Bojack for that, even though its a fake person, just a character.
Bojack, this show, *it helped me.*
Thank you.
I do wish there were more, as it was a really great show, but I am glad they wrapped up when they did. I wouldn’t want them to risk running out of ideas. It’s nice that the show can just live on in imagination and rewatches rather than dying slowly and painfully. Guess I’m just glad they didn’t really jump the shark at any point.
@@korialogo They wouldn't have ran out of ideas for another 2 or 3 years though. You can tell that season 6 is 2 or 3 seasons worth of show crammed into one because of Netflix cancelling it early.
Thank you for making these retrospectives.
I've been holding out on the show for a while now, but I've finally taken the plunge and Holy Bananagrams this show is incredible! I'll probably watch each season retrospective video after I finish each respective season.
I liked both Sarah Lynn and Diane Family episodes. First one because it showed how even in emotions such as parenthood Bojack only pursued such interests on the surface level and when he had any chance of rash decision to ruin the established wish he just took it. Diane's Family episode establishes most of the insecurities and lack of belonging that character feels. Diane abandons many places even if she finds fitting because it is very hard to feel attached to any ambiance due to her family early in her life.
This show made me cry more times than I want to admit
It made all of us cry because that’s what good art does.
This show is one of two pieces of media thats had gotten me to cry
And I always cried not about the characters themselves, but the reality and severity of their situations, and relative to mine.
"Arguably the best season"
I'm expecting that to be said at the end of every season's video review
for the most part i agree about episode 5, but "in your face dad, in your face forever" is one of the top laughs in the entire first season imo
Where is part 2??? I'm so impatient because I love that you're doing this series since Bojack is like one of my all-time faves. Please give updates
Schaff, I realy enjoy your videos, but 2 thing are bothering me:
1 - The audio leveling is awful. I can barely hear one of you guys
2 - You're not analysing the episodes, you're mostly just reading a sinopsis of them. Please guys, tell us WHY the episode is good or bad, not just tell us what happens on them
also they use the word 'ever' a lot..
later they played that as a joke , but just because you play it as a joke later doesn't mean it's not annoying.
Tell what the show has that's it's good. Don't just say 'it's the BEST SHOW EVER' ever ever ever best ever ( WHY ?! )
bad video, all in all

It's the same as in The Amazing World Of Gumball, where you stop seeing the characters as how they look like, but rather how they act.

I have a confession, I stopped watching in the beginning of the 3rd season after the emotional wreckage the second left me with.
I fully intend to finish the show, but holy fuck that second season.
Wanda's time in the show was one of the best things I've ever watched, I genuinely, passionately, loved her character. I can't sing praises for the writing of her character or the season highly enough. Her leaving BoJack ripped me apart, I had to take a break for a few weeks before I finished that season. It would also be an injustice not to mention how incredibly fervent my hatred for Diane became during this, not only because of her completely disregarding Goodest boy's trust in her and his emotions, but also knowingly driving a wedge between BoJack and Wanda, ruining what seemed to be the first chance at real happiness he ever had. I cannot stress enough how impressed I am at how intense a reaction was elicited out of me in the span of less than 30 minutes. When Wanda cried at the end of Yes and, I cried. Just seeing her character is enough to devastate me, over a year and a half after I watched that season.
Then after few weeks' break I came back to finish the season, only to have it rip me apart all over again (though to a far lesser extent). I could break down all of what I love and adore about just what I have experienced with this show and its writing, but honestly I don't feel like writing a novel.
Sorry for the ramble, but they showed Wanda at 9:44, and I immediately got choked up, and had to vent.
Its only been a month and I'm already impatient about the lack of the rest of this series' retrospective
Todd is amazing Asexual representation, he was the first I ever heard of asexuality and it felt so good to finally have someone to relate to
I looked into it more and the spectrum and now I’m out and proud 😁☺️🏳️🌈
HORRAY
That moment where he sits with Emily and goes "I don't think I'm anything" was the best way to reveal his asexuality because it never occurs to the viewer until that point and it 100% makes sense with his character.
I legit sat there and went "Ooooooh yeah I see it". I also think BoJack's reaction to the news was very tasteful: shocked, awkward, respectful and supportive
hell yeah! he's like the only character i know of that's canonically asexual
i remember the first time i watched that episode where he says like "i think i might be nothing", and holy shit dude that hit close to home
No joke. They handled it really, really well. I’m still trying to figure out my place there, but I believe I’m at least in the ace umbrella, and it was really nice to see them address Ace folks and the awkwardness/enlightenment of self-discovery and stuff. I just really enjoyed the arc and representation.
I was expecting that episode to end with some kind of joke and damn did it not go the way I expected. I cried like a damn baby I think because I just really was not expecting them to go serious there and keep it serious through the rest of the show when it was brought up
@@melrenee5416 yea, many shows use sexuality as jokes and seeing it in realistic way, was perfect
Ooh, this has that Season 1 flair.
And by that, I mean the audio balancing is off. Your voices shouldn't be like 10 decibels away from each other.
This show is unique for a dramedy and it can definitely have some profound moments as the series went on. I can see how some who initially saw the first half of season 1 have wrote this show off as a sophomoric or mediocre animated sitcom. The entire season 1 was just finding its feet in terms of how the tone, story structures, character development, and foreshadowing will go for the rest of the series. In the end, Bojack Horseman actually went beyond most adult animated shows! It's great!
