Thanks so much! Was the first biblical theology I bought back in the day.

Great job! I always enjoy these kinds of videos with q&a. Titus 2 seems to be the main area where people will argue for more domestic type teaching from women. Could be a good video to add to the list, walking through that text.
I agree that it seems deacons have more of a leadership type role with it being more of an official office. That does mean the word "gyne" needs to be wives and not women which is where it gets a little tricky, especially since there's no mention of the wives in the elders section. I think at least in churches like Grace Community Church, the women are not functioning in a leadership role.

I'm glad to hear it is enjoyable! Sometimes I feel bad about doing Q and A type videos because I like to go much deeper on issues at times, but I think having variety is good. And I love the idea of doing a walkthrough of Titus 2. Definitely something to put on the list!

Thanks for the encouragement brother. And you never know... God is always opening up various opportunities. That would be a neat connection to have.

I think that capitalization of pronouns for God within the English language is completely appropriate. I've heard it argued that there are some places in Scripture that are vague, therefore it can't be clearly discerned that it is in fact God being referred to, like angelic occurrences, wrestling with Jakob, appearance in the fire in Daniel, etc. It's my view that whenever it is clear God is being referred to, it is not only preferred, but helpful to the reader and context to know God is being referred to, as you read through the passage, this is especially true in the New testament where pronouns are used continuing a thought process. Obviously this is not a requirement, other languages do not have it, I get it. But uniquely in our complicated English language, we have the ability to do this, I think it is respectful. More importantly it is odd to me that a translation like the HCSB Bible would use capitalization, then its predecessor the csb would take it away, that seems like an unforced error. Bottom line when I read scripture knowing God's being referred to, along with other people, as occurs in the New testament, it is hard to see God's pronoun and the reference to a person, the same, -to each his own🤷🏼

I’m definitely with you and I always feel awkward when I don’t capitalize the English pronouns referring to God! I tried to make the switch, but I couldn’t do it. Appreciate the thoughts!

@thebiblesojourner Brother Peter, speaking from the point of view of someone who got wrapped up in that branch of dispensationalism it's a much larger theological issue than most think.
Dr. Robert Breaker and Dr.Gene Kim are acquiring millions of views and followers on UA-cam everyday. I'm thankful the Holy spirit led me out of that faulty hermeneutical system.
I believe an episode on this issue would be extremely helpful and relevant. Let me know if you would like any further information, from one theology geek to another 😉 thank you for your labor.

The name of God, YHWH, Yahuah, was removed from the scriptures. Yahuah wants his name known and spoken but it was removed by Pharisees.

There's only 1 teacher and its Jesus. Not any woman not any other man. If they dont teach what Jesus taught then they arent following Jesus. Did Jesus says women couldnt teach others about what he taught? No

    • @thebiblesojourner
      @thebiblesojourner  4 місяці тому +1

That is true. Jesus wants men AND women to teach what he taught. But there is clear instruction that women are not to teach or exercise authority over a man. Is that what you're referring to?

Paul says it, and all scripture is given / inspired by the Holy Spirit and is suitable for correction, reproof.

@@David-lq4tq that's a mistranslation of 2 Timothy 3:16. Tyndale who was burned at the stake mind you translated that verse to say "all scriptures God breathed are profitable...." It's interesting to note that the early church did not view Paul's letters as inspired.

Yet paul, in some of his writings says, I Paul, referring to his personal preference not necessarily God's requirement. Example...
      1 Corinthians 7:12 HCSB
[12] But I (not the Lord) say to the rest: If any brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not leave her.
All scripture is indeed inspired by the Holy Spirit and is profitable when properly interpreted and understood by the teaching and discernment of the Spirit. I had tried to read the Bible without the Spirit, and was lost, after I surrendered, my mind was opened to understand. This is why scripture has been quoted and used for terrible evil, because people have not used it according to the Spirit, but for their own personal agenda. Satan himself used scripture when tempting Jesus. Jesus answered him not correcting the scripture, but giving it context and how it was intended. Moses dictated much of the Torah, obviously we know that Jesus affirmed the commandments, however the case law within Leviticus and other places is not intended for all of us. For example the correct judgment if someone's animal goes on another's property and how to settle these occurrences. When God speaks directly like in the commandments, or through the direct quotes of Jesus, they definitely deserve our attention. Jesus summarize the entire law and profits to say in Luke 10:27
27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
