Awesome video!!! I hear you reminisce of times trapping with your father and it makes me wonder if my sons will do the same when they are older! I'm hoping they will still love trapping by then! Nice catches and again, awesome video! 👍
We need more 330 and Trapper J Collaborations
😂😂😂😂that pause and wait for that sneeze was too good
So happy it's trapping time again
Nice catch of Rats and Beaver.
Totally impressed uze gize with your knowledge of where to set traps, and understanding the critters habits. Hopefully I won't see uze gize get your hand in the wrong place. Enjoy listening to use gize cause you really know what you are doing, and always look forward to watching ya'll. U dun GOOD. Thank you
Jump traps, they were the cats meow back in the day. Still have a few #1 and 2- 1+1/2s. A great trap for bank sets. Now #1 double coils are what are in the arsenal, work well for mink too.
Yeah, jump traps and stoploss traps are well known to us older trappers. A Victor #1.5 jump was my favorite fox trap late '60s early '70s. The #4 Victor jump was my go to beaver trap. After the coil spring trap came into vogue I adapted and moved on. Still miss my jump traps.
@@jimmyraythomason1 yep, light, fast to set and didn't take but a 4" run on the bank.
Good stuff mate
Another great video
17:24 bless you 😂
Favorite rat traps Victor no 1 jump, 110 conny and a colony trap.
Your dad taught you well. Too bad we can’t see you trapping together any longer. He’d be proud!
I hit the thumb up. It was 6 views and 8 thumbs up! How does that work?
Always like the beaver trappin but some "Muskrat love" is good too.
Bought my trapping lic once I get this 10 point killed going rat trapping .. rats everywhere this year. Record rain fall last summer great for muskrat I guess with everything flooded
I have a 1# jump stoploss but the stoploss part just out under the trigger. I will have to get into my antique traps and see who manufactures it! Very cool your still taking fur with a 50+ yr. Old trap!!
Nice Job!!
that looks like a beaver feed station to me i saw/seen those before,, yup open water rat trapping is the cats mewow
Damn good checks man.👊💀
Please let us know the weight of the XL Blankets on your next video, you’re racking up the fur Scott!
MAN DOWN! My back yard lake has the same thing going on, just a strange lump of mud surrounded by bog. IV searched and searched and can't find a run anywhere around it. Just some weird lopsided lodge I guess
What do you do with your beaver when you catch them???????
Sell them. Eat some of the meat too
Is there a market for hides?
Man down! And those victor traps look like they could bite you if you forget you can't adjust the pan tension under the loose jaw.
Do your stoploss traps not have the secondary pin on the chain or do you just not use it?
I don't use them
What is the secondary pen used for?
@@trappertshifflett6773 Keeps the stoploss arm from releasing instantly, its not till the muskrat pulls chain/pin.
Think you'll ever dabble in predator trapping? Your instruction is great and if you started doing predators your channel would blow up!
I am gonna do some sharing in the coming weeks. Between work, hunting and the beaver it's tough to get other stuff in besides water trapping
@@330Maniac I hear ya there. Look forward to it! Even raccoon would be cool
Just started to watch your channel what do you do with the stuff you trap
What brand of gauntlet gloves do you wear? New to trapping and really enjoy your videos and learning!
I'm wearing big game gut gloves
Hello love the videos wandering of you do videos on taking there fur off?
I have some skinning videos from a couple years ago uploaded. Now days I don't make them because UA-cam doesn't like all the blood and such.
👍
do you carry these beaver out or float them out with a tow line???
I float them any time possible
That looks like a lot of fun! Congrats on the catches.
Don't call yourself that. You just don't know anything about the damage they do. It's ok little buddy, stop calling yourself names 🥺
@@330Maniac What you call damage is natural and helps diversity and other animals.
@@DerHouy Thats because it is damage. Crop damage. Land damage. Doesn't matter that it helps build an ecosystem in that particular case. If they are killing someone's crops then they are taking food out of a families mouth. People are more important than animals in those instances
Bro you have it easy, in Maine we have to be at least 10 feet from the lodge and dam or a muskrat hut😢
I do have it pretty easy here. Open water would still be easy but under the ice trapping would be more work for sure
Hey just wondering if you get that tell me something their number-one Beaver Trapper the trigger on my 3:30 when I set it it is loose it won't stay straight it just flopped over how do I fix that
For cables do you use 3/32nds or 3/16?
7x19 3/32nd cable
Awesome catches 330!! What do you get for rats if you don’t mind me asking?? I’ve never been big into catching rats but the ones I have caught in the past would always get ground up for bait!!
Love these videos. Out of curiosity, what do you use to edit the GoPro footage? I have a GoPro, I love it, but I have such a hard time editing. Thanks!
Is a muskrat and a nutria the same creature?
No. Nutria are found in the southern states and grow much larger
I trap beaver in southeast missouri and I'm always afraid to trap lodges because I'm afraid I'm gonna get attacked or have them swim out the lodge while I'm there is this true or am I worried for no reason
I've never been attacked before. Sometimes they will exit the lodge and run into your legs lol
@@330Maniac Or come out like a missile into your 330 when you hop over the run on the ice like happened to Mr. Maniac here 😂
Do you cook p a lot of Beaver?
Do you put up all your beaver or sell them on the round?
Sell in the round
Did you know that beavers and muskrats are not related?
I'm interested to know why your dad didn't like trapping river beaver?
more food in a river system they can grow bigger faster, i need to get trappers permit no one traps them they have about 15 lodges in a 5 mile stretch now..........(river in my backyard love it)
Actually it's not more food necessarily it's the right kind of food. I read a study where they live trapped the beaver in 2 separate colonies. Each had ample food but one colony had poplar, willow and other ideal soft woods surrounding the pond. The other colony had a lot of ash, birch and not as much of the soft woods. They found the colony with the poplar and willows grew 25% faster.
@@330Maniac that's is cool, thank you for teaching me more. Stay safe brother.
A
It is not big beaver, bro
Any beaver over 40 lbs is considered and Adult. And any Adult beaver we consider a big beaver
Don't be hating on 330 MaNiaC your just mad because you can't catch a beaver, bro
Haters gonna hate bud! Thanks for the backup!
@@330Maniac No problem I'm here when you need me 😁. Goodluck too you love your vids
@@330Maniac Do you modify any of your traps?
Completely disagree with setting in the runs out of the lodge…..you essentially have them trapped in their house or on the way in. Would you appreciate someone putting traps outside the doors of your house and waiting for you to come or go?
I appreciate all your videos but as a longtime trapper as well, its just something I wouldn’t do……not much challenge in that.
