So, I have seen several reviews on the gauge and while it was built well but not much is able to be calibrated. Also, the gauge markers are so far away from the arrow it is hard to near impossible to make a real accurate setting. The Wood Whisperer did an excellent job pointing out some of the faults.
Wow, that’s nice but you’re right it’s expensive. $360 that cost almost as much as my Dewalt 7845 DWE table saw. lol I think I might just make a sled with t-track and a Katz-Moses Stop Block. Lol 😂
This is an impressive miter gauge, to be sure, but I could never justify spending $360.00 on a miter gauge. Still, it's nice to dream. I can't justify spending $60,000 on a pickup truck, but I still dream about owning one.
I paid $50,000 for my Tundra and I get it. When you want to buy mods for your Truck. Whats another $1000 for something. Similar to Matt with a $3600 Sawstop what’s another $360 for an accessory. I own a Dewalt 7845 table Saw so this miter gauge is almost the same price. If it were $40,then heck yea. I don’t know what can be differences from a Miter gauge vs a Crosscut Sled or an actual Miter Saw for that matter.
@@pizzaboy2020 I really love it. It is my first cabinet table saw. It's powerful, robust, and reliable. In the context of this video, hopefully you will receive the updated t-slot bar for the miter gauge. I have added a couple of nylon tipped set screws towards the back.
I bought the Incra 1000SE a few years ago and I've been very happy with it. The Harvey sure looks good. Just remember to double check the fence for clearance between blade and miter fence when making miter cuts, you don't want to cut through your fence! :)
If harvey sent me a $360 miter gauge for free, I'd do a video on it too. Entirely too expensive for your typical home woodworker. Absolutely gorgeous piece of hardware, and I'm sure it's probably the absolute best in what it does. It's just excessively priced for those of us "getting by". Matt....you do this craft well. There were 3 major things that drove me to buy a Harvey table saw, that miter gauge being one of them. My saw should be here in a couple weeks. Can't wait.
Accerut cuts. Thanks for this video. After watching this one, one by stumpy nubs and a few others I purchase this miter gauge for $270 on Black Friday. Just got it this afternoon. Haven’t been able to use it yet but out of the box I love it.
After watching this, I ordered one. Let me tell you, the Harvey customer service is 2nd to none. So are their products. Thanks for introducing me to them.
UPDATE: It arrived today. Right outta the box, it went to work. It is as advertised. Flawless cuts. Pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for. Worth every penny.

I love to dream or over spend on a "Cool" tool, mostly dreaming; because this tool might not make it into my shop. It's not about how fancy of a tool you have, it's being able to use it and adjust to the limitations it might have. Let the tool teach you what you both can do and then you can upgrade when it's time.
Harvey includes this miter gauge with their table saws, it is standard. I got my Harvey with this gauge for $1,595. Take off the $350, and my Harvey for $1,245. It is a 2 HP 110v cast iron top cabinet saw. Keep an eye out for specials and sales, I have seen it on sale before.
Nice video! But if you’re using a mitre gauge of Harvey quality you really should upgrade to an Igaging, Veritas, Starrett, Woodpecker, Bridge City Toolworks or similar high quality square. (Igaging is reasonably priced and good value for your dollar). Fine woodworking and nice joinery begins with quality marking and measuring tools. P.S. The Harvey now comes with a vernier scale that allows precision to 5 minute increments so that you can set to an accuracy of 1/60th of a degree! Right up there with Incra as far as accuracy but much nicer finish and quality. John Jensen from British Columbia.
I'm late to the party but I received mine a couple of weeks ago and have major regrets. First, it's supposed to be able to be used on the right side of the fence. Well, it will push wood through the blade on that side but it's a pretty poor excuse for a miter gauge on that side. Notice that is very little information regarding right-side use. It's not an accident, IMO. First, the stop, slider, and pointer are on the wrong end. The pin comes nowhere near the blade. On the left side, it's about an inch from the blade. On the right its 2-1/2", or so. The micro-adjuster is backwards, as well. Second, when the extension bar is moved from the left side of the gauge to the right, the T-slots mirror to the back of the gauge, making a sacrificial fence impossible without drilling through to the slots. I don't think I want to, nor should have to, do this on a $300 tool. Third, when the extension is moved to the right side, it's not square to the table or miter fence. It's out about .065", or 1.6mm at the top. This is unacceptable. This sample also had the large gap between the cursor and compass. Thanks to the Internet, I found the solution for this but I had to force the cursor block as far as possible to close this gap to make reading the angle reasonable. In short, I certainly wouldn't recommend this miter gauge. Knowing this, I would have bought the JessEm. Harvey makes pretty tools but this one is a fail, IMO.
You might to want to look up the Wood Whisperer's review of different miter gauges, and also Stumpy Nub's response to it. They specifically discuss the Harvey gauge. Both are about a year old, so a year after you produced this.
I bought their saw as well as the sliding table. Amazing machine. Their saws go on sale all the time, indefinite sale, but even the sale price goes up amd down. But you have to be able to pull the trigger when the price drops super low. Thats what i did!
I bought The Harvey Alpha Table Saw (HW110S-36P) earlier this year and I love it! 4HP, nice miter gauge, Dovetail trunnion and it didn't break the bank like a Sawstop.
@@rmyukon I watched the price change everyday until for about 50 days. They had a 5 unit sale 25% off at the end of July (~$2349). Two days later they dropped the price another $55. @@korkie17 They just released a 3HP Alpha Table Saw version today. This one has the Worm Gear Trunnion System like the 4HP. This will probably be the one I end up getting. It's about $300 cheaper than the 4HP.
I have the Fulton precision miter gauge and I'm looking to upgrade. One significant difference between INCRA and Harvey is that INCRA is Made in USA while Harvey is Made in China. That said I'd much rather support Made in USA if I'm going to get a premium miter gauge.
I watched this video when you first published it, and now I’m ready to buy a Harvey table saw, I’m excited to know that this miter gauge comes stock with the saw! I’ll let you know how it goes!!! 🤩👊🏽
The Wood Whisperer evaluated a slew of miter gauges and put two on his "do not buy list", one being the Harvey (though he likes other Harvey products). Yes, it's gorgeous, but he found several functional shortcomings. He's not the only 'tuber to have panned the product.
Looks sweet, but I don't have any issues with my Delta miter gauge. I screw on a sacrificial fence and use a small "C" clamp and scrap of wood as a stop block. It's pretty much dead on accurate. If I ever hit the lotto I may buy this Harvey gauge, but I don't gamble so that's not going to happen. Keep doing what you do bro, I have been watching since the beginning and am super happy for you and your wife! Blessings and love from Upstate New York ❤️💛💚
Question? In your video you have this litlle black box you keep moving. It looks like it measure distance from to miter fence what is that device please. Ty in advance

Hand cuffs? :))). I have incra and MG-36, incra is good, does an ok job, I don't like their fidgety adjustments, have to have the hex wrench. But the Harvey miter gage is in the separate category and they include it with all their table saws and others should too. Harvey support and service are great too.
I'm needing a new miter gauge and have been looking at the incra and thinking about the Harvey also. They're both really expensive, just trying to figure out which one would be best for me because that's a LOT of money for me.
I've got the Incra in the shop recently and will have it in a video soon. They are expensive but they are high quality tools. Check out Wood Whisperers video on them if you haven't already. He experienced problems with the Harvey that I didn't have. ua-cam.com/video/wBQtzhCiMhY/v-deo.html
@@731Woodworks I'm actually watching that video right now. Thanks for the reply and I know it gets said a lot, but thank you for all the content you provide. It's so helpful to us (or at least me) that are trying to get started and don't know what to really purchase or stay away from.
I have the Kreg Miter Guage, the brass pin that holds the angle is prone to coming out when I am moving the gauge from storage to table saw and the stop block deflects. I don't have a brass pin solution yet, but the Katz-Moses stop block is awesome. My best idea for that pin is a storage solution that holds the gauge at 90%, probably using french cleat for either my wall, or eventually the side of the table saw itself. I have ideas. This fence does have a much better tension adjustment process than Kreg's, so I am jelly about that one. That micro-adjust is awesome! To use fence + miter gauge, I measure an inch farther than intended, then use 1-2-3 blocks on my side of the blade to butt the workpiece against. Bevel Pin??? Go on... Maybe a future video? I'm not familiar with that one. For my hobby budget and uses, I think I'll stick with the Kreg that I already purchased, but I do make one bigger tool purchase each year. I will look into this one after I get a band saw, a spindle sander and maybe a jointer.
Matt what a sweet video and thanks for sharing. I have been like ok’ing at the Harvey lineup and I am certainly impressed and you have sold me. Guess what my problem is. I bought a nice used craftsman table saw and the silly mitter tracks have in four places a goofy little hang over spot on the top of the track. Looking at the mitter gauge it looks like the track is a flat bar from end to end. I’m going to need to save up for a new table saw and miter gauge it looks like. Although from what you have shown and what I have seen in the shops it looks like this tool is a beast of a mitter gauge. Please also revisit how well the gauge has held up over time. In fact I think that would be a great series to veer off occasionally to show the honesty of well tools have held up in the work environment. Because I know as time goes on pieces wear and don’t hold as accurate or operate as well as they did when they were brand new. On the Harvey item I’m more worried about that plastic bushing piece I’m 5 years and where do I get a replacement if it is compromised and worn after use and no longer holds right after years of use. Otherwise the tool looks like a beast. Again a loyal fan and love to see how God has blessed you and I love trying to get started as well.
Matt - Love this video, keep up the great work. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Harvey vs. the Incra 1000/HD vs the Kreg Precision at Home Depot? I'm looking at all three and there is a significant price difference. The Kreg is not quite as sexy, but I'm a beginner and on a budget. Is there maybe a quality, less expensive gauge only op that I could build a fence for?
Sorry I didn’t read through all the other comments to see if this was commented on but you did not address deflection in the stop. How sturdy is it and is there any deflection?
That’s a thing of beauty. Sure beats re-setting up my Delta miter turd every time I touch it. I’ve been looking at an Incra I think I’ll go for because it’s more affordable and still way better than what I have. Congrats on yours though. Every woodworker loves the days when they break open something they’ve been drooling over. Looks like you REALLY enjoyed it.
I had the Harvey MG-36 miter gauge. I just got rid of it. It is really nice looking however, it left a lot to be desired. I sold it and replaced it with the JessEm and I’m glad I did. JessEm solved all the issues that the overpriced Harvey had and then some. The best thing about it is the JessEm is a lot less
@@ptcruiser2012 it’s precision the way you’d expect. If you haven’t already, watch the wood whisperer’s review of them but ultimately you’d have to use them both to really understand just how well the JessEm is built and how much of a ripoff the Harvey is.
I could not agree with you more on this miter. I bought one probably more than a year ago and, even though it's expensive, it is much better than the incra (and the incra is awesome because I have one of them too). The box is so awesome that I didn't want to get rid of it (I just had to dispose of it to make room in my shop 🙂) . The one advantage the incra has is the angle adjustment. It has a mechanism that allows you to adjust to positive stops at fractional degrees through the whole range of motion. The Harvey is also nice because it makes it easy to bevel cut since the ends of the fence are at a 45 deg angle. As an owner of both, I would be hard pressed to decide which one to buy if I could only have one. I use them both for different things.
Cue up the Wayne's World fantasy transition, LOL! I can't wait for the day when my skills and abilities can be improved only by integrating such a beautiful, high-precision tool into the miter slot of my Ridgid contractor's saw.
There is one major design flaw: When the gauge is set to 45 degrees or more, tightening the knob tilts the fence back so that it is not square to the table surface. That means that angle cuts of stock up to 31/4 inches are not square. To correct this design flaw, one must place a shim of .025 to .027 between the gap so that tightening down the knob doesn't tilt the fence. I own this gauge. I appreciate all its strengths, but this should have been foreseen by the manufactures.
Also the flip stop doesn’t fit close enough to the table allowing smaller stock to sneak by, also using the brass dowel on the flip stop stock cut on a angle cannot sit flush allowing the mitre cut to go under the brass stop. Also with the the 45 on the aluminum fence you can’t cut stock with the mitre smaller than 3-1/2”, Harvey also claims they have the longest fence with extension on the market which they do not. It has one thing no other fence has though and that’s a the largest price tag.
I wanted one of those but own the incra and I just cannot justify that cost. I love their stuff but at that price, the only way I would get one is if gifted or win one of their giveaways. I cannot even look at woodpecker anymore since even the smallest tool is 150.00 and up. Use to be that guy that was like oh yea must have now after the wood price rise and supply shortage no way.
So glad to see this review. I have an incra that i love although in my haste and lack of attention I managed to run it directly over the blade. I absolutely HATE making dumb mistakes but we all make them. Will definitely give this some thought now that I need to replace, appreciate the video. In fact thanks for ALL the videos, ive been watching / listening to everything you have uploaded while I work at the KTP Ford truck plant in Louisville, KY over the last 6 weeks since discovering you! And thanks for your previous police service, I'm a huge military / police supporter! Keep the videos coming man, you rock. Steve H.
Crazy price on that. I hope they gave it to you for free. I am glad you are doing well but I liked to projects when you had tools that the average person could afford. Not saying they "are" different just concerned about going forward.

Hes put in the hard work to grow his channel and business so i think he kinda deserves it. Nice review but a bit pricey but if you got a sawstop table saw then you’ll want one of these I guess. If you are me I got a table top table saw built into my mobile bench that I got used for 40 bucks this cost more the my bench with my table saw, miter saw and router built into and a couple other tools that are laying around cost oh well I can still make saw dust lol and that makes me happy lol great video anyways
That’s a really nice motor gauge it would be great to own one but if they put that in every Saul that used they sold they would have to raise the price $350-$450
That’s a really pretty miter gauge. But it’s really pricey for most woodworkers, more so for hobbyists, it can’t be justified. More power to those who can afford this. There are a lot out there that’s more affordable and reasonably priced.
The iPhone comparison is a real deal bc like you said it’s cardboard but it really makes it feel and look premium and I’m a huge fan of that stuff. As well as your shirt sir, nailing it. This gauge is amazing, I’ve seen a few people with them but man that’s steeeeeeeeep 💸💸
I love that miter gauge. I got mine last year during a sale Harvey was having (to replace the miter gauge that came with my table saw). If Harvey is going to have a sale again, I got mine around Thanksgiving for $199.
Great review and it is as you say a premium product but poor value when you compare it to the added functionality of Incra's miter express combined with a top quality Incra 1000SE or HD miter gauge where you get a fully functional sled with T track, hold downs extendable fence, micro adjustable flip stop etc as well as a premium gauge which can read fractions of a degree. You can use both together or the gauge on its own.
As I understand it, the miter express is advertised as being compatible with any miter gauge, not just Incra’s miter gauges. So, you could combine the Harvey gauge with the miter express and have Harvey’s higher quality gauge with the miter expresses added sled functionality.
What you like is what I hate :) Packaging seems way OTT, so much waste :/. I know it looks and feel premium but I find premium products packaged in a responsible way. Good review thought :).
It's nice! But not nice enough to pay that price. For my small shop, like most, it simply doesn't make financial sense. And I am selling about $2000 - $3000 a month in product.
This is definitely not a beginner woodworker tool. The price of $350 in my opinion is even priced beyond an intermediate since there are so many miter gauges out there that are priced below $100 that are JUST AS GOOD.

Is this good enough to replace a cross cut sled if it can go out to 36"? Easier to store with the more compact size compared to a cumbersome sled.
Hi Matt, great review as always. Can you do a good, better, best for us that cannot afford the top of the line?
Thanks Matt! Maybe Santa will have one in his bag this year for me!!!
Does Harvey make different lengths of extensions? Wondering if that extension intentionally comes out so you can swap it with a longer one if needed.
That would be nice if they did.
Thank you
Great review brother!
I appreciate it!
It sure is nice and you Definitely weren't wrong about that Premium price!
Can this Harvey miter gauge can be use on a jobsite saw?
Great review. Maybe one day I will buy one when I can.
What were the issues that Jessem solved? Not sure why they missed a micro adjust on the fence stop🥴
@@ptcruiser2012 it’s precision the way you’d expect. If you haven’t already, watch the wood whisperer’s review of them but ultimately you’d have to use them both to really understand just how well the JessEm is built and how much of a ripoff the Harvey is.
Stunning
Did you look at the JessEm mite-r-excel? I was looking at it. How about a shoot out? I do like quality things, tends to last a long time
I actually wasn't aware that JessEm made one until after I had done this video. I am checking them out now
you might as well go ahead and get the whole table saw at 1749.00 because the miter gauge is included. 360 for just the miter gauze is a bit much.
Cue up the Wayne's World fantasy transition, LOL! I can't wait for the day when my skills and abilities can be improved only by integrating such a beautiful, high-precision tool into the miter slot of my Ridgid contractor's saw.
After reading comments, my question is what would you pay for this mitre gauge?
BTW I have learned so much from your channel! And Ty for that too.
It has one thing no other fence has though and that’s a the largest price tag.
have a sip every time he says "extremely" lol, good fun
Matt, I appreciate you, and I love your work, but I can't afford to keep up with you. I'll research the fulton.
Great review, but out of my price range. Still good to know what is out there and I am sure you will have great luck with it.
Beautiful , be careful how close you get that metal to your Sawstop blade. Now for a premium square. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks, will do!
Harvey is such good stuff. If I ever have the workshop space and budget, I'm going all out on that stuff. A boy can dream!
Thank you.
Yeah i agree…but i get it. His channel is growing which means he’s getting alot more sponsor related items and free stuff to advertise. I cant knock the guy for that. Hes put in the hard work to grow his channel and business so i think he kinda deserves it. I will say though what made this channel so good in the first place was Matts ability to build beautiful things with just very modest tools everyone has. Not everyone can do that. But like i said I get it and he still puts out awesome content and good information regardless. Matt doesnt strike me as a fella that would ever get to big for his britches anyway so i would recommend everybody keep watchin 👍👍
@@joshbaker9705 yeah I really like Matt's channel. April Wilkerson started out good but then got out of control with all her free stuff and tools that the average person couldn't afford.
Everything Harvey makes is outstanding!! Their table saws have no comparison. Other then the brake sawstop can’t match the quality
Harvey manufactured the first gen Stopsaw. They currently manufacture Laguna and Powermatic tablesaws.
Watch the review from the Wood Whisperer before buying this miter gauge. The video is located here ua-cam.com/video/wBQtzhCiMhY/v-deo.html .
I love this channel but I would recommend watching the wood WHisperer.he did a video on the top miter gauges and the Harvey did not not do well at all.better choices for cheaper
Currently on sale at $256 on Harvey website.
Oh nice, costs more than my table saw, or at least as much. (The Skil 1340, I know bugdet entry level table saw).
It does look quality I will say
Nice review but a bit pricey but if you got a sawstop table saw then you’ll want one of these I guess. If you are me I got a table top table saw built into my mobile bench that I got used for 40 bucks this cost more the my bench with my table saw, miter saw and router built into and a couple other tools that are laying around cost oh well I can still make saw dust lol and that makes me happy lol great video anyways
If you don't have this easily adjustable sled...Watch "5 cuts to a perfect crosscut sled". Helps you ensure you are "square".
Do you have a how to video on the flags?
yes, I have a couple videos on flags
@@731Woodworks Thanks brother. I'll look for them this evening. Love your work.
Matt, I swear I have seen you using some nice Woodpeckers squares, and then you break out the old cheapie to test this. haha
Naw don't have any of those yet. I have some Woodpeckers edge guides, but they are just straight edges.
Thank you. Yes, they are pricey!
Nice gage, looks like a incra copy.
Nice miter gauge but the Jessem IS nicer( and a bit less expensive).
Expect a new machined square from Harvey 😜. Great video, glad to see you doing so well!
Thank you
I love that miter gauge. I got mine last year during a sale Harvey was having (to replace the miter gauge that came with my table saw). If Harvey is going to have a sale again, I got mine around Thanksgiving for $199.
That's nice one... But I can buy a mitre saw itself for as less as 100 usd.... Yes we get very decent miter saws for INR 7500 in India....
The wood whisperer didn't like this miter gauge. What has been your experience since owning this? I'm thinking of getting one soon.
Still have it; use it and love it. Mine doesn’t have the issues his had
I want one!
good
nice
Thanks
Great review! I really like this miter gauge.
BTW: the screws are called cap screws! As a tool maker, I used a million of them.
Thank you
Premium box, premium look and feel, and premium cost! I hope it does 5G
I was going to buy this, but they wanted $35 for shipping.
It's nice! But not nice enough to pay that price. For my small shop, like most, it simply doesn't make financial sense. And I am selling about $2000 - $3000 a month in product.
I been eyeballin this..the price is worth it for the quality IMO....
they have a new and improved version out now
This is definitely not a beginner woodworker tool. The price of $350 in my opinion is even priced beyond an intermediate since there are so many miter gauges out there that are priced below $100 that are JUST AS GOOD.
This is super nice but at that price my Ryobi one is looking pretty freaking nice!! Lol.
