- We’ve had both of these tools in the Omni Garage arsenal for some time now, having used them to maintain hedges of various types and sizes over the last few years. Today we put both the Ryobi Hedge Trimmer & the 18V Telescopic Pole Hedge Trimmer to use maintaining a griselinia hedge.
The Telescopic Pole Hedge Trimmer has a max reach of 2.9m with the telescopic pole, has a cutting capacity of 17mm and features a 4-position head.

Great video. I just bought one and I'm all ready to get out there thanks to your video!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video! Thanks
No problem. Please you enjoyed it
Great demonstrating power tools in flipflops :)
It’s the Kiwi way!
2 wheel drive Crocs are fine too
@ Al H What are these? I haven’t heard that before. 😂

Thanks mate, hope to buy one next week ❤️
👍🏻
Thanks for the efforts. However that is not the "telescopic extension" type. The telescopic type extends doggedly, not by adding pole sections.
Blade speed obviously isn’t great but it gets the job done
For smallish jobs like this, it does a great job!
I looking at one from Bunnings. The flex is interesting and worrying.
My problem bush is within 500 mm from house power line.
Anything at length will have some flex in it.
Thanks. Have you tried it with the 4amp battery?
No sorry
How long does the battery last?
Depends on what size you have
What hedge plant is this?
This is a Griselinia.
My pole hedge trimmer now only works without the extension pole! It no longer runs when the extension is used in between. Anyone has the same problem or have a solution?
You may want to see if contacts at extension are somehow bent and wont contact. There is just two metal contacts on each end of the extension and wire inside the extension pipe.
That’s bizarre, but likely a connection issue. Ryobi have a fantastic result policy (up to 7 years here in NZ) so I would be returning this.
Mine won't work at all even without the extention. I have the corded one and used it for the first time today and it died after 2 minutes.
You didn’t show how to add the extension
Sorry about that. It screws in.
Why isn’t that in the us?????
Can you not get these in the USA? I’m sure we have seen it advertised on Amazon
Just go to 5:30
With a bit of practice, he might make an acceptable demonstration video.
