My thoughts on the Kenworth t680 and the KW lease program

- I finally got into my “new” truck, a 2023 Kenworth T680. Beautiful truck.. BUT.. it comes with some issues, courtesy of KW, our companies lease program with KW, and those in the industry that “think they know best”… Come along as i discuss my issues, and my loves, with this truck!

So much for new smell!!
The last time I drove was 2011 and it was getting bad back then the best truck I drove was when I drove for a owner operator it was a 2000 Freightliner classic xl with a 82” sleeper with a C-15 Cat and a 18speed with very large nuts I could drive up any hill I wanted didn’t matter how heavy it would pull it that was the best truck I drove stay safe out there I enjoy watching your videos I am not able to drive anymore do to health reasons at least I can still see what going on in the industry 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌹
those classic xl boys are niiice! especially with the CAT.. I bet there was no hill that truck looked at.. my dear friend drives a KW 900 with a Detroit in it and that thing laughs at hills... he runs off and leaves me every time, usually without having to grab a gear..
Few things for you.
Sounds like it's a PacLease you have. I know the pain. I used to be the manager for a big Leasing company and I was way more customer focused than most are now.
Also, noticed a lot of squeaking when you're in the cities. Throw some grease on your hood mounts on the firewall. World of difference!!
I also have my CDL on a manual. Such a greater appreciation for how the truck works and the relation between road speed and RPM's.
Thanks for the tips! ill try the grease, altho honestly, being IN the truck, I don't hear the squeaks so much, perhaps I am just numb to the noise... lol!
I’m one of the unlucky ones who went through a school and has a manual restriction. It sucks but since I just drive local constantly stopping and starting it’s nice for that reasons. There’s days where I wish I didn’t have that restriction because it would be fun to run through the gears.
I drive a 2019 t680 with a Mx-13 and the 12 speed automated which I do end up shifting “manually” when I have 44k in the box because I feel as if it shifts to the next gear before it hits the power. The way I do it really doesn’t affect economy at all as this truck averages 6.8-7.3 @ 65mph. I’ve seen as high as 10.6 but I was deadheading @ 60mph with a tail wind pushing me.
its good that u use the manual capability! I used that feature at all times aside from in the city or heavy traffic.. it makes such a difference in power but not that much difference in fuel mileage. glad to have u out here with us!
I got a new T680 when I was at Werner. It was FANTASTIC!!! I loved that truck. If I ever went O/O, that's the truck I would buy!
yes they are beautiful, inside and out! I loved my peterbilt too - so similar to each other - if we could just order them without all the computers and crap they add, we would be looking at a perfect truck!

I’m glad you like the Kenworth. It looks like from the video that your seatbelt is not Properly Mounted and Secure. I can’t tell if it’s not Cut, torn, or frayed because I can’t see it…Haha. I have learned a valuable lesson that you need those hood mirrors, they help you to keep those trailer tires on the curbs. I thought you might recognize some pre trip lingo in my seatbelt comment.

I drive a tanker and the auto brake really sucks. There is a fuse that you can pull to help with that. Good Luck and be safe Driver.
Mr don't be messing removing fuses ,learn to adapt to the way truck was designed to operate, that is why there is control switches for engine brake, with adaptive cruise control simply don't tailgate traffic
Why you driving without a seat belt?Good way to to get a violation and mess up you driving record, easy pickings for DOT inspections!
@@sodbuster518able Wait for that stupid thing to lock the brakes because of a shadow under a bridge. I don't tailgate, I think these trucks are overengineered for people who don't pay attention.

@being_eli in the 30 some years I've been doing this it's always been long nose and a cat and 90% of the time I'm hooked to a pot, it's definitely a lifestyle not a job or career

awesome video as usual. If i ever became a truck driver (and thats a BIG if) i'd have to name my truck goliath. But can't they go in and change the trucks program to make 12th usable. kinda seems dumb to basically deactivate 12th just to save fuel
oh its been super frustrating.. the EPA and FMCSA have gotten so ridiculous...

Blame the company you drive for, they ordered the trucks the cheapest way they could.
yes they did... I don't think they realized how cheap they ordered them... its just odd too that KW would let a truck go off their line without the basic necessities.. this truck is beautiful in so many ways.. just needs a couple little upgrades to make it a real gem
Can’t you get a truck spec’d to exclude all the safety features if you’re leasing a truck? I’m a company driver so I know I can’t do anything about it. Our trucks will do 68 on the cruise, but the braking system slows you down in the same way, but if you push the throttle down while it’s doing 68 it will automatically kick it back to 65. It sucks.
it is awful!! I am sure if u buy a truck on your own u can order it without the extra junk but they will still have DEF and other computers that get in the way of your driving. I do miss some of the creature comforts of the new trucks but man, I am telling u, if u ever are able to get away from all the crap they put on the trucks now, u won't want to go back.. :)

lmao, I love this post! as far as the bodybuilding, once I get my body back to where it should be, I am going to do a bikini bike wash video... stay tuned... Is it the same size as a freightliner?
in theory, yes its close.. this axle is a little longer tho (not sure the measurements ) and the interior is much roomier, the lower bunk is larger (great for sleeping!!) and I have more space for storage and my infamous microwave... :)
You're a lady after my own heart, you're as old school as am I and I retired in the early 2000's. Sounds like the govt has regulated the industry into the ground. I gotta tell you, I wouldn't drive today even if I could return in a 25 year old body.
One piece of advice, you need a remote lepel mic, your audio is low and difficult to follow.

At least you got the Cummins and not the Paccar junk drivetrain. You know your shop can tweak almost anything with the annoying lane keeping/following distance settings, right?
I don't have that on this truck.. just the rpm and speed governors..
Is the paccar an american engine ?
they are.. built in MS if I recall correctly
My co had nothing but trouble with Paccar ( Kenworth or Peterbilt) engines. DEF system, sensors, electrical on and on.
Tht beeping drives me up the wall i put cotton balls n me ears
it was awful... tin foil and gorilla tape fixed it up real nice tho... :)

13 speed with a 605 Cummins is not a such thing are you sure you have a 605 Cummins
its the x15 cummins.. says they start at 605 hp and go up to 2050 lb ft torque..
