What humanity? Tony was always a psycho man child. His character never changed. He just had more shit on his plate as the show concluded. But getting shot and almost killed by your own uncle can change your outlook on life somewhat, right?
I disagree, out of the hole bunch of characters in this show he was the one that had it the most. But he was still dangerous man in a dangerous buissnes.
I’d have to disagree with the Vito Jr thing. he did more for him and Marie than Phil ever did and they were Phil’s family tony didn’t really have to do anything but he chose to try and help.
0:52, Beansie is one of the only characters to talk to Tony like that. He easily calls Tony out on making a stupid decision about whacking Paulie, and not only does Tony not get pissed, he actually listens..
Might not have been a stupid decision. Paulie's loyalty was very fickle. He was spilling NJ secrets to Johnny Sack which could've been cause for his removal. The whole Zellman thing almost led to Sack and Carmine getting taken out and Paulie caused the whole ruckus between Sack and Ciferetto. There's also a decent chance that Tony's death (most likely anyways) was done with Paulies agreement that he would take over as boss.
Why would Paulie accept the position of "Boss" of the Soprano family when he was so paranoid about accepting the position of skippering the former Cifaretto crew based upon his idiotic superstitions?
+Davendra Sharma because Paulie was slippery and would have no problem looking out for himself. Paulie knows that Tony considered taking him out when they were in Florida. Paulie would likely have been upset with Tony's leadership anyhow. He was already siding with NY when Sack was using him for info. Paulie always resented Tony's favoritism towards Christopher. Paulie was also very upset about the favoritism shown towards Tony Blundetto, openly showed his disgust at Tony's handling of Vito. Not to mention, with Tony out of the picture, Paulie would be the most senior member by far and the most obvious choice for boss. Despite Paulie's superstitions, he always loved ordering people around and throwing his weight around. Given the choice of being the boss of New Jersey, or taking orders from Patsy Parisi or Albert Barese, I'm positive Paulie would choose to be boss.
+Davendra Sharma What are you talking about? Paulie was NOT afraid of having top tier positions. For most of the series, Paulie is captain of the Soprano crew until Chris took over as capo of The Soprano crew and Paulie moved up to underboss. Paulie simply didnt want to be in charge of the APRILE crew because of the history of its leaders...Jackie, Richie, Gigi, Ralphie, Vito, and Carlo all died untimely deaths except for Carlo who was arrested and flipped.

No, he was talking about his ideal image of a man that never truly existed, like all of the 'back in the good old days' bores we get now moaning about how pussified everything is now. Tony , like them, is full of shit as Beansie points out, Paulie was always what he was, a blabbermouth. Gary Cooper, was an actor, who portrayed fiction. Tony's right about Paulie needing to show legit income. The feds will nail you for that in a heartbeat. But shortly after this, he puts Paulie in charge of the crew that brings in the most money for the family. That could lead to a huge problem.
Even though you may know something about someone, at times you need a third party to put it simply into words. Beansie was spot on when he said all paulie had was tony, the guys and his image.
He's been arrested 28 times back then. He said when the Gambini and Columbo's were going at it he dot out of it by the skin of his balls. That's when he got out, he even told a few real stories on the Sopranos just didn't use real names of course.

@@deathrager2404 Beansie was a good earner, I suspect the only reason he was never made was that maybe his mother was not Italian. Both parents have to be Italian in order to get made.
@@deathrager2404 A hundred years ago, the rule was that both parents had to be Sicilian in order to get made. So even Tony would have been out of luck. That's the mob's version of progress I suppose.
Well let's address the cheating concerns. Being Beansie is an associate of the Mob he could have easily had her tracked and made sure she is attending the so called card games. ;-)
Libertatem Veritas His dick doesn’t work. What’s the point? Reminds me of a scene from OZ where the narrator is telling Adebisi that he fucks his wife but he can’t feel it and doesn’t know when he cums. Adebisi said the same thing I was wondering.....if you can’t feel it and you don’t know when you cum, wtf is the point?
Libertatem Veritas It was good for its time. Season 1 thru 4 still holds up. After that it got really hokey. But a lot better shows have come out since then. But at the time it was groundbreaking. It’s decent. But doesn’t hold a candle of The Sopranos, The Wire, or the GRRM seasons of Game Of Thrones.
It’s nice seeing that Tony didn’t immediately rush to judgement and just kill paulie. He at the very least got a trusted persons opinion, I think a large part of Tony desperately doesnt want to be forced to murder paulie.
Never ceases to amaze scenes like this. Real talk between a civilian and a higher ranking made guy (in this case, a captain acting out of classification as the 'boss' (on the streets).
Note Beansie's face when he says Paulie was a "stand up" guy, and Tony says, "Has he ever been put to the test?" Beansie was out to the test when he "washed his own dirty laundry" and kept quiet after Richie made sure he could no longer stand up.
he's right. despite Paulie's various quarrels, he'd be lost in the world without tony. he needs constant reassurance and guidance from tony throughout the series
Beansie was a childhood friend of Tony and a former associate of the Aprile Crew during the 80's and possibly earlier. During his dispute with Richie in season 2, Beansie claims "I pushed alot of H(heroin) for you and your brother!", which would lead someone to believe he was involved in some aspects of the organized criminal activity, before opening up pizza joints. I don't think much else is known about him since he is not a made guy, but i may be wrong.
Very adroit assessment of Paulies psychological make up - all he had by way of relevant social structure and grounding, was the family and his own persona
The suspicion isn't completely unfounded. Paulie is the reason Johnny Sac knew who made the joke about Ginny. He likely wouldn't talk to the feds but he was ready to jump ship to NY and could have cause a mob war if Tony didn't already hate Ralph
The way Tony was talking reminded me of casino where the bosses were talking about everyone that was a stand up guys and the decision became why take the chance

heh heh heh
Tony should've asked for a veal parmigiana sandwich.
soft drinks of choice?
Fuckkkk youuuuu
With a coffee pot on the table
Then beansie shouldve threatened him by stepping up
Sandwich, any kine ya like.
Soda.
I wish I had 20 friends like beansie. He's a chill dude
Talking like a moulinyan?
Heroin traffiker, supposedly set up by richie.
@@stoundingresultsI had lots of friends who were bigger pieces of crap, and weren’t at all pleasant to be around. Beansie is a cool dude. Personality goes a long way
"All I know is Paulie Gualtieri's father was run over by a trolley"
🤣
Paulie gaultieris father was @run over roadkill kind@guy
Hilarious 😂😂😂😂
I can only imagine Tony's first conversation with Beansie after Richie died. And what a joy Beansie would have felt
Beansie was a stand up guy
I told you to back off Beansie.
Tony's right about Paulie needing to show legit income. The feds will nail you for that in a heartbeat. But shortly after this, he puts Paulie in charge of the crew that brings in the most money for the family. That could lead to a huge problem.
The Aprile crew was in charge of all the construction. Paulie wouldve had a no show job lined up.
Beansie is actually Henry Hill's Pittsburgh connection in Goodfellas...."Wanna see helicopters?"
Adam Fitzgerald he’s in the irishman aswell

He is also in Casino, he plays a reporter running to the phonebooth when Deniro's character decides on a betting line.

Wow, thanks for that inside info
Beansie saved Paulie's life six times in this scene. All Tony needed was one subtle go ahead.
This is one of the best scenes of dialogue from the show. Just beautifully done.
Rest in peace. Both of you fine men.
Beansie was genuinely a kind man.
Even though you may know something about someone, at times you need a third party to put it simply into words. Beansie was spot on when he said all paulie had was tony, the guys and his image.
Aww. I miss Beansie. He's such a sweetheart -- I wish the show had more of him.
Sam, it’s been 10 years …………u still alive?
It would've been interesting if he was the real therapist

Same here. I am even going to buy it on amazon prime!
There'll never be a show, or a cast assembled, like this again 😥
Don't cry because it's gone. Smile because it happened 😃
Beansie saved Paulie's life a interestingnd never pressed Tony; just mildly convinced Tony not to do it.
Beansie used to be a real stand-up guy, now all he does is sit down
He’s a shopping cart

You gonna build Beansie a ramp

This show needed more Beansie
The guy who plays Beansie kinda looks like Lance Henriksen. Similar voice too.
He gets stung
He does a little! The voice though, not so much,
Captain Hook facial features affect the way you sound so if people look alike usually they sound alike too
I always thought he looked like Joey Bishop too.
His imitation of Paulie talking too much at the beginning is absolutely hilarious.
I like that scene and Paulie does have balls! He's a crazy old fuck his character and in real life . He was in the life for real!
He's been arrested 28 times back then. He said when the Gambini and Columbo's were going at it he dot out of it by the skin of his balls. That's when he got out, he even told a few real stories on the Sopranos just didn't use real names of course.
heh heh heh.
With Beansie, you always had a ready made sit-down.
Before that he was a Stand up Guy
I love Beansie’s laugh. 😂
What a great scene! Woulda liked to have seen more of Beansie
You, the guys and his shinebox.
Great scene, love it! It’s subtle yet it speaks volumes about Tony and Paulie. Beansie provided an excellent juxtaposition between the two.
Honestly, for a man that was paralyzed over something petty, Beansie ended up doing pretty well for himself.
I named my Pug Beansie B. Wiggerton in the hopes that if he ever gets ran over he will survive! Oh yeah not to mention he refuses to lay down for anybody.
Good one lol
shoulda been made then and there
@@deathrager2404 Beansie was a good earner, I suspect the only reason he was never made was that maybe his mother was not Italian. Both parents have to be Italian in order to get made.
@@themagictheatre2965 can you imagine that? both parents need to be italian to be made?
@@deathrager2404 A hundred years ago, the rule was that both parents had to be Sicilian in order to get made. So even Tony would have been out of luck. That's the mob's version of progress I suppose.

"Leaving for my card game"
"Card Game"................
Poor Beansie.
+kingbIIIr You think she was fucking dudes on the side? I don't know, maybe she was actually loyal to Beansie. Who knows.
Beansie is the kinda friend that you spend the whole day talking about random shit and never get bored
One of the best scene ever. So realistic. Paul Herman played Beansie perfect. I'm not in all pro with the SIMP content but yes it's great acting.
Now, that's what it's really all about...
a friend who'll be a friend
even when you're not around.
It’s nice seeing that Tony didn’t immediately rush to judgement and just kill paulie. He at the very least got a trusted persons opinion, I think a large part of Tony desperately doesnt want to be forced to murder paulie.
This show could have gone on forever.
RIP Beansie…..Paul Herman passed on his 76th birthday
Never ceases to amaze scenes like this. Real talk between a civilian and a higher ranking made guy (in this case, a captain acting out of classification as the 'boss' (on the streets).
Wowww wat a scene this soprano clips are addicting wat a great act james was Rip wat a awesome show The Sopranos.
Note Beansie's face when he says Paulie was a "stand up" guy, and Tony says, "Has he ever been put to the test?" Beansie was out to the test when he "washed his own dirty laundry" and kept quiet after Richie made sure he could no longer stand up.
Fantastic bit of writing that would never have worked so well without these two acting.
Paulie should thank Beansie, in all likelihood he saved his life with this talk.
he's right. despite Paulie's various quarrels, he'd be lost in the world without tony. he needs constant reassurance and guidance from tony throughout the series
She kisses her husband on the cheek and Tony on the lips.. tf

Beansie is one character I wish had an expanded part in the show-- love Paul Herman.
😂 Tony pondering whacking Paulie, then having a sentimental moment about him, at the end... 'I love him, too'... 😂
I think Paulie is the only guy that Tony would never "clip".
Silvio
Thanks for the ramp Tone...
Beansie was compassionate and understanding. A straight shooter who got paralyzed bc he wouldn't be bullied
Tony was correct to be wary...Paulie and Patsy turned Tony over to NY...they had to...Tony was going to the can and had too much info...
Beansies wife sure changed her tune from "your 'friend'" in the hospital to cooking him dinner in Florida lol
Very adroit assessment of Paulies psychological make up - all he had by way of relevant social structure and grounding, was the family and his own persona
You can always rely on your gangster friends to talk about how much they love you, while they are considering your demise.
Comments section of the sopranos clips is ligit gold
The suspicion isn't completely unfounded. Paulie is the reason Johnny Sac knew who made the joke about Ginny. He likely wouldn't talk to the feds but he was ready to jump ship to NY and could have cause a mob war if Tony didn't already hate Ralph
This is one of my favorite scenes
Beansie is the only guy Tony would even listen to without cutting him off..
Beansie thought the world of Paulie.
RIP Paul Herman
Beansie probably the only character that cared about his friends.

I wish they did more with Gary Coopah, he was my favorite character on the show
He was very strong but also very silent
that was a great scene. this series was full of them.
Beansie has the best laugh.
1:58 All I know is…Paulie had the makings of a varsity athlete! Now go ahead and get your shinebox!!!
I hope Beansie opened up some pizza parlors in Fl, no good pizza when you lose the NY radio stations.
The way Tony was talking reminded me of casino where the bosses were talking about everyone that was a stand up guys and the decision became why take the chance
Silvio's wife was the actors real life wife throughout the entire show.
In the first season he had a different wife, in the scene where they all rush out of the wedding cos they hear indictments are coming

Paulie is one of the most well thought out characters in the history of tv!
