There is nothing wrong with that at all! As long as you know you are buying convenience mixes, and that it is more expensive...I have no regrets, it was so fun! I can't wait to swatch all of them!! I would have to use them quite a while before I feel comfortable giving a full review. I think they are lovely, but you can certainly get the same results with less expensive paints. I just ordered my 1st Schmincke watercolor set (24 half pans) from Jackson's (1st time ordering from Jackson's too) this past Friday. I was so disappointed that I didn't receive a discount when I placed my order. I thought their site said all Schmincke products were 20% off, but apparently I misread their sale banner.
I'm so sorry, the price should have reflected the 20% off and it wasn't all the sets...just certain sets. I really feel you should call them and maybe you can switch you order to another set that is on sale. That said, if you look at what you paid...and compare it to what it costs here at DickBlick etc you might feel better about your purchase. Please let me know how your order is, I hope you enjoy the new paints!
Wow!!! Everything looks so tempting, especially the seascape paints! My favorite colors ever are ocean blues, greens and turquoise’s!! I do have most of these colors except for the two newest colors! I love all of the enthusiasm I hear in your voice, you should totally be Schminke’s new addition to their family, or at least Jacksons Art!😀Your love for Schminke paints is so obvious!❤️ After buying from 4 professional paint brands, swatching/playing with many many paints , I have to say Schminke is my favorite too! I’m so glad I found you, I soon realized that your love for great quality paints and other art products is very important to you! Thank you, Liz!! The Seascape if the only thing I would recommend for you, personally...It's a gorgeous palette and at under $5 a half pan for some more expensive pigments, and that special Ice Blue. I'm trying to get back ups of my very favorites, because the prices keep going up so high. That is from what I know about you so far, anyway! Lol But, what I learned from this sale is I saw many "limited edition" items come back! Some at a lower price, some double what they used to be. So please try not buy out of FOMO, but because you really wanted the colors and pigments in each set. Luckily, Jackson's has Schmincke sales often. I had credit card rewards and a tax return, and I'm very likely going back to work in the fall...so I wouldn't be able to run to the sale later.

I bought the botanical set and the seascape set, but missed the Cesc Farre set because it didn’t show up with the other sets. I have been eyeing this palette on Arte Miranda, but it is $70 to $80 more than Jackson’s sale price. I felt like I won the lottery when I saw it, I really never thought it would be in my budget! The thing I did learn from this sale, is there will be another sale...and sometimes they bring back limited edition palettes at even less price. I do too! You can watch the tour of my art studio and see most of my supplies. I love them so much, and like to store them pretty because they are my true love, besides my family.
Ooh I missed this one! How exciting! I finally bought 2 schmincke colours after hours of deciding - mahogany brown and manganese violet - it's the granulation that excites me so! I decided not to waste money on the super granulation paints - I will practice with granulating paints I already have. Including my beloved W&N potter's pink! 😁

Such a fun video!! Ive seen those sketchmarkers and have been wondering about them..excited to watch them video you made with those next. Also Im not sure if ive mentioned this before but have you considered purchasing large tubes of all the colors you like and pouring them into your own empty half/full pans and buying empty palettes on Amazon? So instead of purchasing tons of different pre made palettes with many of the same colors- you could go online and look up the colors in each premade palette youre interested in and make your own with the tubes you have? So I've come up with a pretty cool system~over time Ive been purchasing tubes of all the colors I want, I also purchased a 6 drawer pastel storage unit on Amazon. I poured one pan for each tube color I have and store them in the 6 drawer pastel storage unit (which holds about 1000 half pans I think)..so now when i see a premade palette online that interests me I write down the colors that are in the palette; then from my '6 drawer pastel storage unit' I pull out the colors from the list and add them to one of my empty Amzon palettes (Its important to note that if i dont have an exact color for the premade palette- I either buy the missing color in tube form online OR if the color isn't super important to me Ill just use the same color with the same pigment from a different brand). After playing with the palette for some time I can either decide to keep that palette together forever OR take the palette apart and put the pan colors back into my pastel storage unit. (If i do decide to keep the palette together forever- I make new half pans (poured from the tubes and dried) to replace each color I took from my pastel storage unit to put in the homemade 'premade' palette).. I know this system isnt for everyone but its worked really well for me and now I just want to scream it to the world!! Im sorry about the super long comment Im really passionate about watercolor..lol. Anyway such a fun video and great haul!! Thank you so much for sharing and much much love!! ❤️🧡💙
Thanks so much, Nadeane! Yes, I purchase a 15 ml tubes of my favorite colors when they are on sale. I like to make sure I have extras so I don't run out. I filled up full pans recently and all my tubes look almost empty, I usually like to try the half pan first, as it is more convenient. I do use some Amazon half pans for brands that don't have a different sized half pan...Schmincke, Rembrandt etc. Haha, I'm a bit picky and need them to all be the same in the palette. Sounds like you have a great system! I do something similar. I change my palette colors often, usually with each new season. I love to try different colors, to get more time to mix with them to find new favorites. It has been a journey, as I used to not like neutrals. Lol Now I'm liking colors like caput mortuum, mixed with potter's pink, etc. So, it's always fun to try new colors and new mixes. Oh, I love the long comments as I love watercolors as much as you do... I completely understand! That's how I felt when I found a way to hang my tubes in my studio, as they look pretty to me but they are easy to grab and use. I felt the same as you! I got the 9 full pan palette, although I did look at the Seascape set. It seems odd to to me to call it "Seascape" -- if you want to paint anything besides waves and sky, it doesn't really serve for that. I'm not sure why they didn't just call it a Blue Set. Then again, they name EVERYTHING confusingly. (I think Schmincke is like the Mjello of Europe haha). That Cobalt Violet Hue is a perfect example -- it's a rare pigment -- why don't they call it something that highlights that? Instead they make it seem as if it's some kind of inferior non lightfast thing like you thought! Oh, I recently got PG 26 from both Qor and Schmincke (the Qor is not a good formula). And I'm shocked to say the Schmincke is actually more vibrant and saturated than Qor!!
That's awesome, I hope you love that palette! The 9 full pan set was a great value! I had purchased it another year and enjoy most of the colors. Yes, you may be right. Seascape sounds pretty anyway. So true about the name/language barrier though, just like "Super Granulating" Lol! I give them some grace since most of their lightfast info is correct. The missing pigment info had me confused, for sure...but at least we know now. ;D Thank you for the info on the PG 26 from Qor. I'm always curious about different pigments, as they vary from brand to brand! ;)
The bottom of the palette lays flat. The large mixing area floats at an angle. The mixing wells lay down not touching my desk, but have a pin so I think you could adjust it to your liking. I hope that helps! ;)

@@TheGypsyChic1 I got one of the older black square ones and that's enough for me, I was just curious if these ones had a lid that lay flat on a table. I found you can bend the hinge a bit it so it touches the table for more stability but it is not flush against it like the smaller tins are. I'm a plein air painter not a collector and thankfully I'm free from the fomo, seems stressful.
Oh, that is great! I'm so happy for you!! Yes, you can bend most to fit your painting style, thankfully. I hope to try plein air painting some day. Ah, you are so lucky!! I hope to move past my collecting phase soon...I'm not there yet obviously, but I have such fun trying them all. It's not stressful to me, it's pure joy. Sometimes more so when I find they aren't for me, and gift them to a friend. Sometimes that is even more fun! ;D

Thank you!! I usually order using the tracked shipping, which takes 2-3 weeks. I ordered this using DHL to share it fast, it came in about 4 days. I also use DHL when I place I large order $150 then I also use DHL. The only time I've had a problem is when I ordered using FedEx, that was a nightmare. So, I recommend using the tracked shipping for small orders, and DHL for larger orders. I hope that helps!
The Jackson’s sale is still going on but so much from Schmincke is sold out and the price isn’t as good as it was a few weeks ago. I know this info because I’ve been stalking the website 🤭. I had my eye on the gold Schmincke palette but I was too slow to pull the trigger and it sold out. 😭😆 Enjoy your supplies!

I shared the sale at the end of one of my last videos when it started as well. ;( They had some sets that were really good sales, and some not on sale at all. They have a 9 half pan set for $39 etc. The thing I did learn from this sale, is there will be another sale and sometimes they bring back limited edition palettes at even less price. I'm hoping there will be a restock of some of the best palette sales! Like the curved oak wooden box that I paid $48 for years ago and it was back. I've seen it for $48 and I've seen it for $89! So, I bet they bring it back...don't pay more for it. I hope you find that gold set for that price soon!! Thank you!!

I had it in my cart, then took it out, put it in, then took it out, then decided what the heck, just order it, and poof, it was out of stock LOL. However…. I did manage to snag the 9 count full pan set with lemon yellow, magenta, and helio cerulean primary colors, with some other colors that I don’t already have. Plus I ordered some tubes, plus some Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils. I already have some watercolor pencils in another brand, but I was missing some colors. I don’t mind mixing up my brands so I ordered colors I don’t have from the Albrecht Durer line. I was actually thinking of asking you how frequently Jackson’s Art have sales and restocks. I only just created a Jackson’s account last month so I’m not clued up with the frequency of their sales etc. I’m hooked on Jackson’s arghhhhh! I won’t be ordering that frequently but I sure will be looking frequently 😂. My Jackson’s package arrived today yay! I chose cheap mail, because I don’t like paying high prices for postage. Anyway, I’m going to be busy busy busy! Yes I’m definitely going to wait it out to see if the gold palette comes back in stock at a good price. @@TheGypsyChic1 your ‘tribute’ comment is too funny! I’m having a lot of fun mixing Schmincke PV16 (one of the tubes I purchased from Jackson’s) with my Paul Rubens PG7. I’m not sure if any other company has this combination but the resulting mix is beautiful. It results in a turquoise and violet mix with the two pigments interweaving with each other. I’m using Strathmore 100% cotton cold pressed watercolor precut sheets. Wood pulp watercolor paper works but the result isn’t as good. I do too! You can watch the tour of my art studio and see most of my supplies. I love them so much, and like to store them pretty because they are my true love, besides my family.
Ooh I missed this one! How exciting! I finally bought 2 schmincke colours after hours of deciding - mahogany brown and manganese violet - it's the granulation that excites me so! I decided not to waste money on the super granulation paints - I will practice with granulating paints I already have. Including my beloved W&N potter's pink! 😁

Such a fun video!! Ive seen those sketchmarkers and have been wondering about them..excited to watch them video you made with those next. Also Im not sure if ive mentioned this before but have you considered purchasing large tubes of all the colors you like and pouring them into your own empty half/full pans and buying empty palettes on Amazon? So instead of purchasing tons of different pre made palettes with many of the same colors- you could go online and look up the colors in each premade palette youre interested in and make your own with the tubes you have? So I've come up with a pretty cool system~over time Ive been purchasing tubes of all the colors I want, I also purchased a 6 drawer pastel storage unit on Amazon. I poured one pan for each tube color I have and store them in the 6 drawer pastel storage unit (which holds about 1000 half pans I think)..so now when i see a premade palette online that interests me I write down the colors that are in the palette; then from my '6 drawer pastel storage unit' I pull out the colors from the list and add them to one of my empty Amzon palettes (Its important to note that if i dont have an exact color for the premade palette- I either buy the missing color in tube form online OR if the color isn't super important to me Ill just use the same color with the same pigment from a different brand). After playing with the palette for some time I can either decide to keep that palette together forever OR take the palette apart and put the pan colors back into my pastel storage unit. (If i do decide to keep the palette together forever- I make new half pans (poured from the tubes and dried) to replace each color I took from my pastel storage unit to put in the homemade 'premade' palette).. I know this system isnt for everyone but its worked really well for me and now I just want to scream it to the world!! Thanks so much, Nadeane! Yes, I purchase a 15 ml tubes of my favorite colors when they are on sale. I like to make sure I have extras so I don't run out. I filled up full pans recently and all my tubes look almost empty, I usually like to try the half pan first, as it is more convenient. I do use some Amazon half pans for brands that don't have a different sized half pan...Schmincke, Rembrandt etc. Haha, I'm a bit picky and need them to all be the same in the palette.
Sounds like you have a great system! I do something similar. I change my palette colors often, usually with each new season. I love to try different colors, to get more time to mix with them to find new favorites. It has been a journey, as I used to not like neutrals. Lol Now I'm liking colors like caput mortuum, mixed with potter's pink, etc. So, it's always fun to try new colors and new mixes.
Oh, I love the long comments as I love watercolors as much as you do... I completely understand! That's how I felt when I found a way to hang my tubes in my studio, as they look pretty to me but they are easy to grab and use. I felt the same as you! I got the 9 full pan palette, although I did look at the Seascape set. It seems odd to to me to call it "Seascape" -- if you want to paint anything besides waves and sky, it doesn't really serve for that. I'm not sure why they didn't just call it a Blue Set. Then again, they name EVERYTHING confusingly. (I think Schmincke is like the Mjello of Europe haha). That Cobalt Violet Hue is a perfect example -- it's a rare pigment -- why don't they call it something that highlights that? Instead they make it seem as if it's some kind of inferior non lightfast thing like you thought!
Oh, I recently got PG 26 from both Qor and Schmincke (the Qor is not a good formula). And I'm shocked to say the Schmincke is actually more vibrant and saturated than Qor!!
That's awesome, I hope you love that palette! The 9 full pan set was a great value! I had purchased it another year and enjoy most of the colors. Yes, you may be right. Seascape sounds pretty anyway. So true about the name/language barrier though, just like "Super Granulating" Lol! I give them some grace since most of their lightfast info is correct. The missing pigment info had me confused, for sure...but at least we know now. ;D

Do those botanical/seascape special edition palettes sit flat on your desk?
The bottom of the palette lays flat. The large mixing area floats at an angle. The mixing wells lay down not touching my desk, but have a pin so I think you could adjust it to your liking. I hope that helps! ;)

@@TheGypsyChic1 I got one of the older black square ones and that's enough for me, I was just curious if these ones had a lid that lay flat on a table. I found you can bend the hinge a bit it so it touches the table for more stability but it is not flush against it like the smaller tins are.
I'm a plein air painter not a collector and thankfully I'm free from the fomo, seems stressful.
Oh, that is great! I'm so happy for you!! Yes, you can bend most to fit your painting style, thankfully. I hope to try plein air painting some day. Ah, you are so lucky!! I hope to move past my collecting phase soon...I'm not there yet obviously, but I have such fun trying them all. It's not stressful to me, it's pure joy. Sometimes more so when I find they aren't for me, and gift them to a friend. Sometimes that is even more fun! ;D
They look like beautiful paints, but most of the A. Gallo hues are made of multiple pigments. I'll be interested to see you mix some of them.

Thank you!! I usually order using the tracked shipping, which takes 2-3 weeks. I ordered this using DHL to share it fast, it came in about 4 days. I also use DHL when I place I large order $150 then I also use DHL. The only time I've had a problem is when I ordered using FedEx, that was a nightmare. So, I recommend using the tracked shipping for small orders, and DHL for larger orders. I hope that helps!

The Jackson’s sale is still going on but so much from Schmincke is sold out and the price isn’t as good as it was a few weeks ago. I know this info because I’ve been stalking the website 🤭. I had my eye on the gold Schmincke palette but I was too slow to pull the trigger and it sold out. 😭😆 Enjoy your supplies!
I'm so sorry...I really tried to hurry and let everyone know. I shared the sale at the end of one of my last videos when it started as well. ;( They had some sets that were really good sales, and some not on sale at all. They have a 9 half pan set for $39 etc. The thing I did learn from this sale, is there will be another sale and sometimes they bring back limited edition palettes at even less price. I'm hoping there will be a restock of some of the best palette sales! Like the curved oak wooden box that I paid $48 for years ago and it was back. I've seen it for $48 and I've seen it for $89! So, I bet they bring it back...don't pay more for it. I hope you find that gold set for that price soon!! Thank you!!

I had it in my cart, then took it out, put it in, then took it out, then decided what the heck, just order it, and poof, it was out of stock LOL. However…. I did manage to snag the 9 count full pan set with lemon yellow, magenta, and helio cerulean primary colors, with some other colors that I don’t already have. Plus I ordered some tubes, plus some Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils. I already have some watercolor pencils in another brand, but I was missing some colors. I don’t mind mixing up my brands so I ordered colors I don’t have from the Albrecht Durer line. I was actually thinking of asking you how frequently Jackson’s Art have sales and restocks. I only just created a Jackson’s account last month so I’m not clued up with the frequency of their sales etc. I’m hooked on Jackson’s arghhhhh! I won’t be ordering that frequently but I sure will be looking frequently 😂. My Jackson’s package arrived today yay! I chose cheap mail, because I don’t like paying high prices for postage. Anyway, I’m going to be busy busy busy! Yes I’m definitely going to wait it out to see if the gold palette comes back in stock at a good price. Lol It would have been a great gift and such a good price, but it sold out before I made up my mind! TBH, I'm not sure Schmincke gold paints are much better than other brands...but for that price they are nice and it's a cute palette to add favorite mixing colors. Ahhhh, YES!!! I just read more of your comment! That was the deal of the day! I had tried to show it in my Granulating Palette video...but it cut off for some reason. That was a much better choice for the money! Jackson's has sales almost every month! Restocks sometimes are quick, and some not. Since they are so much more affordable even without the sale, often...I shop there way too often. I pinned a comment that I learned from this sale not to buy from FOMO. I saw many "limited edition" palettes back, some were lower in price and some were higher. So maybe just keep a wish list of your colors, or pigments so you are ready for the next sale. That is what I do, anyway. Haha, all of my videos are showing what was on sale, because that's the only time I buy, since forever. I just usually don't share for a month a three because my family comes first before my UA-cam channel. This one was too good not to share. If you want to save your self from shopping too much, turn off the emails...you will miss the sales but not shop until you really need something. I'm sure you know this, but just in case...If I didn't have a channel, I would not need to compare them and buy near as many! I just volunteered as tribute to try all the brands and colors, lol. Then I compare and give my honest opinions. I really thought there would be one be all, end all paint...and there is not! They are all pretty good! You are so welcome, I love making new art friends!
@@TheGypsyChic1 your ‘tribute’ comment is too funny! I’m having a lot of fun mixing Schmincke PV16 (one of the tubes I purchased from Jackson’s) with my Paul Rubens PG7. I’m not sure if any other company has this combination but the resulting mix is beautiful. It results in a turquoise and violet mix with the two pigments interweaving with each other. I’m using Strathmore 100% cotton cold pressed watercolor precut sheets. Wood pulp watercolor paper works but the result isn’t as good. Thank you for your advice; you are a lovely friend in the art community. 🤩

My experience is not the same as the above comment, but Stephanie you must have developed thick skin doing this UA-cam channel.
