    Every Cobalt or cadmium color will be toxic! Now, if they are already in watercolor form you shouldn’t really worry! You would need to actually eat the paint for it to be harmful for you! When you should beware about this pigments is when they are in powder or spray form, that’s when they are easily inhaled and of course, will be bad for you! But don’t worry about painting with them!

    • @MoniDmajor

      Thank you so much, Mandarina! I actually do know that but that big hazardous icon and bold text on the packaging got me a little scared for the first time 😂 Usually there is just a little note. Your info here is very useful and I will be very mindful when using them! Thanks so so much for sharing this, I hope watercolour noobs will read your comment because so many people aren't aware that some paints are toxic. Have a great day!

      Toxic paints are not a Problem for the User. but for environment. they destroy drinkingwater. get informed. schmincke schreibt dazu: Generell sollte man das Einbringen von Farben und Hilfsmitteln in die Umwelt vermeiden und Mal- und Farbreste fachkundig entsorgen.

      @@Hexe.Mueller ??? Im not sure what you mean and I dont understand German. Some pigments destroy drinking water yes, but they can also be a problem if they are consumed, normal use of a WATERCOLOR wont hurt anyone, but spray paint or powder are definitely harmful if inhaled constantly. Heavy metals are bad for anyone and anything, i am not sure what you are "correcting" me here for?

      Cobalt and cadmium continue to be popular in paints because they produce such vivid, lightfast and stable colors that go way back in painting history. (Cobalt violet is gorgeous.) But most major brands are now making favorite colors that are cadmium-free.And yes, besides eating the stuff, I guess you’d also have to smear it all over your body for it to be dangerous. One more serious caution that I would take seriously is if you use pastels with these ingredients…the dust containing can do harm if breathed over a long period of time.

    Shadow green (often called perylene green if you wanna find it in other brands~) is a fave of mine too. I love mixing neutrals and blacks from greens so it's been a great addition to my palette and at least somewhat fills the hole Prussian blue left in my heart when I finally took it off my palette due to its lightfastness issues that I was in denial about.

    • @MoniDmajor
      @MoniDmajor  2 роки тому +1

      I have Perylene Green PBk31 from Roman SZmal as well as Shadow Green freom Holbein and ShinHan Pass now (because I am addicted to this colour 😂) but after having tried them I must say I still love the ShinHan version most, it is just extra special (darks are darker, watered down a tad more vibrancy). I got asked why would I buy same colours across brands and it's for that reason, they all differ so much sometimes despite sharing the same pigment (my best examples Buff, Naples Yellow, Caput Mortum, Lavender, Burnt Sienna). Since I don't sell my art and store them in the dark lightfastness is not that relevant to me atm but it's so sad hearing about Prussian Blue's lightfastness issues. I rarely use it myself but I feel so bad for you all who depend on lightfastness, because it is such a gorgeous colour!

    Haha, i mentioned shaky hands in the last haul, but now i feel even more connected to you! I'm polish as well and my unnecessarly big haul from Paper Concept store just arrived - full of holbein gouache, haha. Roman Szmal watercolour is amazing and honestly very comparable to Winsor & Newton, i love using both, but RS is obviously cheaper - but is only in full pans and sometimes i do need a tube or a small pan. I cant wait to see what youre going to do with all that goodness! However I'm already dreading what i bought because also withfull time day job its way easier to buy stuff than actually paint with it.

      We are the polish-shaky-hand-artist-squad 😂❤️ I heard of Paper Concept several times now, I really gotta look it up (or maybe not, I am afraid I will just see something I want ...). This is good news that it's comparable to W&N, so I can just stick with Roman Szmal from now on because I love them and want to support this brand. And oh my god, I FEEL you! Buying stuff is indeed easier than actually painting! I always need a clear head and no time pressure whatsoever to actually sit down and paint, and that combo is not often the case 😄 Testing and swatching new stuff seems easier, hehe! Anyway, thank you so much!!

    You should check out Sennelier ink-brushes!
    I have the 36 colors ( 24 regular & 12 metallic colors ) and they are like watercolor inks... but its permanent, pigmented and lighfast inks. They do rewet slightly on certain papers... but they are like a water-brush that you would paint with, but filled with permanent pigmented inks. I absolutely LOVE them. Hey, Nadeane! Thank you for your nice comment and your feedback! I am so sorry this is disappointing, I maybe failed to explain why I decided not to make swatching videos this time and I know how much you love seeing the Real Time swatching. Thing is, I really don't have much free time and this haul has over 50 watercolours. After my last haul I had three swatching videos spread over the course of several weeks, because filming and especially editing takes up so much time. I had no time to do a painting because of it because all my free time went into the Haul follw up video making. Even though I love swatching I don't want my channel to be a swatching channel exclusively. People have started to reach out to me asking for new paintings and why I rarely paint, where is my Gouache Skin Tone palette video / Studio Tour etc., so I feel like I can't serve everyone's needs and gotta compromise. And right now I just feel like I want to paint again - it's been so long! I hope you understand and are not too sad about it, if I was a full-time art youtuber I would definately do the real time swatching but unfortunately I try to make the best with the time I have. That said, I remeber how much you loved my swatching videos and how happy that makes me to this day! I'll be forever greatful. Thank you so much for your love and feel hugged ❤️

      I searched him up and his pieces are absolutely stunning! that’s how I found out about that curated set you just mentioned. The concept of is really great and is becoming more popular and I welcome this as well, since a “regular” mixing palette with the same standard colours, no matter the size, rarely ever appeals to me. Daniel Smith is good at it but so unaffordable here in Germany, so it’s great to learn Roman as mal does that as well

    I’m curious about the watercolor medium/blend extender… I switched from acrylics to oils because the blending is so much better with oils! Aber diese Farben und Fläschchen und Tiegel sind einfache soooo verführerisch, da kann man doch gar nicht widerstehen. Ich habe vollstes Verständnis für deinen Mega-Haul. Nee, im Ernst, ich glaube die besten Fortschritte habe ich echt gemacht als ich nur eine Palette und wenige Stifte hatte. In letzter Zeit hatte ich echt viel Stress und Zeitdruck und dieses "neue Sachen kaufen und ausprobieren" gibt mir Serotonin und es ist ein Leichtes sich einfach hinzusetzen und mit den Farben zu spielen. Um jetzt wirklich etwas Anständiges zu malen, da brauche ich immer viel Freizeit und einen freien Kopf. Aber jetzt sehe ich ein, dass ich für's Spaß mit meinen Farben haben nicht immer neu kaufen muss. Ich glaube, jetzt habe ich genug für viele Experimente und man kann definitiv immer das Beste machen aus dem was man hat. Awww, I feel you! I remember how it was for me when I started out many many years ago, I was in my training and barely had any money and it was hard for me to deicde what exactly to get, especially since I did not know what medium is best for me. After all these years slowly building my collection and having tried so many things I can say I wish I had started out with a basic set of watercolours (you can mix most colours!) + white gouache (you can use it to cover up mistakes or mix it with watercolors to create Gouache). I decided to start out with Alcohol Markers instad, but it became very expensive! You just need too many of them to create all kinds of shades, they dry out quickly if you aren't careful. Anyway, I hope this haul does not confuse you, like I say in the video, at the end of the day practice is most important and there are so many amazing artists who use just have a graphite pencil, pencil sharpener + eraser and do incredible stuff! In fact, the more limited you are the more one can focus on practicing foundations (like when I was a teenager, I only had pencils). That said, of course I can not deny how difficult it is to see amazing paints and pens in various colours, it's just too tempting! Thank you so much for your comment, Crazy daizy ❤️

      Oooooh, I heard of them and I think I even saw a video of someone using them, I was always very curious about it. I saw they have several different palettes to choose from.

    I’m so afraid to use Caran d’Ache products, because I’m afraid I’m going to love them and then have to buy them. 😂💸

      That's how it went here, I tried them and now I got even more... I do not regret, though! But damn, wouldn't mind if they were just a little cheaper 😂

      They are, and the more I use them the more I fall in love with them, some of my papers don’t like Polychromos or Holbein, but Luminance always adheres to anything

    could i mix metallic acrylics over gouache ? since both are water based ?

    • @MoniDmajor
      @MoniDmajor  Рік тому +1

      Jumana, do you mean wether or not you can mix acrylics with gouache? I've done it before and it kinda works, though this mix is not permanent when dry so it's best to not go over it with a super wet brush, it would dissolve the Gouache.

    What's the point in buying other colors when you can mix them? I save a lot of money by buying a pack of primary and secondary colors.

    • @MoniDmajor
      @MoniDmajor  Рік тому

      I hear you! I think there is no general rule what’s the better option, I agree that buying huge sets of colours that you might end up not using can be a waste of money. Though, wether you buy convenience colours vs. primaries and secondaries might cost the same at the end of the day as you are out of your basic colours faster since you use them a lot. That said, I have too many paints and it’s my guilty pleasure, I love convenience colours a lot. Especially a nice vibrant Coral is hard to mix and I have yet not managed to mix a proper Perylene Green / Shadow green. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing this and I am glad mixing works best for you

      I love jumping between mediums at the moment, I rarely have time for art but when I do I enjoy it so much just playing with art supplies instead of trying to do a legitimate full piece

    Why would you buy white nights in april of 2022... :( has been enjoying the video up to that point.
    At least disclose that it's a russian company that hasn't spoken out against the war. it seems like your channel is about good vibes and positivity, but that's just so upsetting how many watercolor artists don't care...
