There are a lot of things about her life that remind me a lot of the life of Janis Joplin and they died at the same age. Both of them were singing in a way that white girls at the time were not singing. They were both addicts they both drank too much and used too much heroin but both deep inside just wanted to be loved and you know they were admired by millions, they never felt like anyone truly loved them for them.

I never said Adele wasn’t talented, don’t put words in my mouth. Adele would have been successful anyway but Amy deserves credit (which Adele has given her) in terms of HOW BIG Adele has obviously gone. Back to Black came out in 2006, Adele had two records out in the 5 years following whereas Amy had none. The anticipation for Amy inevitably leaned towards Adele because Amy hadn’t put an album out. So Amy had already brought hype to UK artists while she was alive.

Amy was a friend of mine. Not a close friend mind you, but we talked quite a bit. I had approached her to do an interview and she had literally no interest, however she was more than willing to just talk as a person. She was sweet, she was funny, but she also was lonely. In my time with her she seemed to be a bit like a little kid alone at home waiting for their parent to come home; she’d get upset and concerned if I went too long without replying, assuming I abandoned her.
When I saw the things the press was saying about this woman I knew I was angry and heart broken. It was so one dimensional, so condescending, and so shitty as all of the papers just wanted to cover the same things. She deserved understanding and kindness as that’s what she brought to the table.

I appreciate the fact there were only photos of her smiling at the end. Most of the videos about Amy showes her in her most vulnerable state. We love you Amy❤️

Doctors and family letting her know that she was basically killin herself isnt enough? You can take drugs away from an addict, they'll get more. She would have had to want to get better....unfortunately she didnt

      She did it to herself.
Her lyrics literally talk about loved ones wanting her to go to rehab and her rejecting it.

Rehab was the outcome of everyone telling her to get help. She didn’t. want it. The abuser has to want help themselves.

If it wasn't Blake would've been someone else. Sensitive souls like her are attracted to this type of abusive manipulators. Drugs and the rest was how she managed to cope with it all. As when you're trapped you can only cope.

this was hard to watch. i knew all these things as her career and moments leading to her death unfolded before my eyes. as a child i didn't understand the issues she was having but i remember asking my mom why can't anyone help her i think she is really sad she told me some people don't want to be helped some people want to stay in their sadness. Without knowing it my mom was trying to make me understand depression. Amy was battling with depression its why her drug use got worse when her main drug, the bf, was away. Her grandmother passing was probably the stressor that sent her down a self destructive path. and it makes me sad to think her best song rehab was so popular considering it was her admitting she needs rehab but she is too far gone in her sadness that it won't help. we all watched it happen and we did the same with whitney. Michael, whitney, amy and robin were all deaths that have stayed with me. I have felt true grief from the deaths of these people who never knew i existed.
