- A few weeks ago this car made the trip, several hundred miles home without a hiccup after sitting on a farm for 5 years. Some discussion was brought up about the paint condition. Today I prove to you that some of it IS savable!
We love our turbo 240s!!!!!

Should of named this video. ‘How to detail a faded red car’ The haters would come flooding !
They already here! It's the nature of the beast lol
With a really good paint job you could sell that car for good money. People love restoring Volvos it's a thing
@@ralpharzt sadly these 940 sedans don’t get a lot of love. For a proper paint job we are talking 2-3k for a cheap sub par paint job. Then we have to ask 4-5k for this car which it would struggle to sell. These cars just aren’t worth the money.
However, if i use it to save other cars that are more desirable, then I can get better cars in the hands of people who want them!
Yey! Faded red Volvo 940! I'm excited for the ride just as peanut butter cookie dog😂. That's an honest dog!😂
Turns out her name was actually Cookie LOL
You’re the Red Green of Volvos!
I will take that as a compliment my friend!
Good job mate! don't you fade away as well........
Thanks Karl! I will try my best!
Will it.buff , I t s already buff. Its of them Dean O Machines, they rock!!😉
Thanks Charles!
Color me confused. The car appears to be pretty solid. Why not bring it back to daily driver spec? Or is it that you need the turbo for other projects? PS - Cute Dog. I hope they found their human.
Its just about ready for daily duties. Unfortunately we do need parts for other projects and this is the most cost effective and efficient use of time that we have. Otherwise we would need to source all the parts and if we miss something then we have to wait to find it. I have one stall in my garage to work out of so a car waiting on parts in the garage holds most everything else up. Kind of like the 242t is doing.
Great video and work😀
It was a lot of work for half the car lol
Nice spec'd car dude, full leather electric seats and a turbo, I'd rock it. The 240's might have the looks but the 900 series drive and handle so much nicer out the box, especially with a m90. Hope you're doing alright buddy, did you find employment....and the dogs owners? 🤘
I think the 940 is the more comfortable car for sure. I love my 240s more though. We did find the doggo’s parents and I did find a new job!
It looks great
A really shiny turd! I do genuinely like this car.
Im usually not a big 940 fan but it still never feels right to see a pretty rot free drivable rwd volvo parted out, they arent getting any more plentiful
I agree. It is unfortunate they aren’t worth more. Fortunately much of this one with go to saving a rust free wagon.
I think it was last hit with Nu Finish or turtle wax in about 2014 or 2015.
That sounds about right
I always thought those wheels were pretty cool. I would love for that to be my parts car😂
Well when the car is done the wheels could be yours!
Cute dog.
Very friendly little pup. Just showed up out of nowhere
The clear coat failed on my 88 760 turbo in the mid-nineties but only on the hood, top, and trunk. I sent it to a shop that somehow removed the clear coat on those surfaces but left the paint. They then redid the clear and it looked great until my stepsister destroyed it in 2003. something similar could be done on this one if you decided not to part it.
That’s something we were thinking about. If we repainted the top panels it could look killer again!
@DeanofMachines agree with @mortimergladbreath, since it's a nice car to start with, might want to get a respray on the hood, roof and trunk and then clear coat the whole thing if you can find someone to do it inexpensively? Also VGG and others like poppy's patina, have wipe on clear coatings if you want to save the patina? Might be a nice daily driver if you don't want to drive around in the big Toyota SUV? Enjoy the weekly adventures, hope the new job is going well.
@@algarcia7893 the problem we have is that we have a lot of cars. The Sequoia is just our tow pig. We own about 20 cars currently.
@@DeanofMachines Understand, unless you can get a Rusty Acres like Derek/VGG guess you'll need to thin the herd a bit? Hopefully the 940 can bring some decent $$s if the exterior is cleaned up a little? Good luck and best wishes to you and your lovely wife.
@@algarcia7893 we are trying to find a workshop space to rent to increase our space.
If you had a buyer for this car would you still part it?
Probably not. We would need to get quite a bit for it.
Thanks! Consider hiring yourself out to work on other peoples Volvos…Think about it…thanks again DOM
Hi Bob! I do this once in a while. I don't have a lot of free time so its difficult to prioritize. Currently have a local that wants some basic maintenance done as well as another fella waiting on my to convert a b230FT from head mounted dist to block mounted. Also, I'll let you know here and we will see who notices... I'm trying to get a shop space for channel projects...
Thanks…as soon as I get a fair amount of cash, I would like to offer u an invitation to San Diego California or invite myself to Wherever u are at to leave my 1990 240 for an over haul. It will be awhile before I can make a reasonable proposal to make it worth your time thanks again for responding. Also I would appreciate learning from you. You have a valuable talent…please consider…peace Good Luck.

Lets see if we can work something out!
Are you going to sell that car?
Yes! $4000 and it can be picked up in Atlanta!
I would wetland with 2000 grit first.
That could help in some spots, much of this paint is very thin
Sell it on a rainy day.
I figured that or maybe a good coat of clear
"I'm just going to do the lazy thing here..." That is something that seems to come up often on your videos. If you want a successful channel, go the extra mile, don't wimp out..." And finish some project(s). Sorry for the attack, but try not to drop the ball.
Thanks Charles! I will be sure to fully buff all of my parts cars for the foreseeable future.
What about cheap mako paint job?
It will look like a cheap mako paint job.
i mean nobody in the world has bought a volvo 940 because it looked good
I might disagree on that. Some of them optioned right are pretty nice looking!
