People are awesome! This kind of painting would blow the minds of painters a hundred years ago and even though it is less labour intensive, this guy is still strong and fit. I came here for the how to, but then got caught up thinking how gentle this man's voice is and that he seems a really very nice man.
Great video. Just cleaned my siding today so I can spray tomorrow. definitely gonna head to Sherwin Williams and get that two foot extension. Thanks for posting this.
One of the greatest journeyman. As a union Apprentice I value you taking your time out of your day to show others how to do it right. Try the Pro Extras they don't rust from scraping like the XLs do and they maintain stiffness longer :).
Oh wow I'm in love with the sprayer and the guy spraying!!! Awesome video!! I'm going to paint the trim of my house. I did the faces of the house about 6 years ago and rolled the paint on all by myself... buggiest DIY I've ever done. Wish I'd seen this sprayer!! Thanks for sharing. 😊
Your are the best painter on UA-cam your videos are very helpful I've been painting off and on since I was 14 years old now I'm 42. I would love to come work for you if I ever move to Idaho lol I've used your videos over the years to make things easier and faster and for tips thank you so much oh I will be buying me a t shirt , thanks Idaho painter, coming to ya from Cookeville Tennessee
ive used a paint sprayer for indoor use, and it has saved me a ton of time...i used a high volume low pressure hand gun for interior walls. It saved me a ton of time and mess. I dont know why they dont promote them more for indoor use. As long as u protect the surroundings for overspray you should be good.
I love painting, and although I'm just a DIYer, your videos are super helpful. I finally purchased a Graco 360 airless sprayer for my many projects. I have the dining room all taped off and ready to try it out. Definitely more prep time with taping off everything (6 large floor to ceiling windows) but hopefully the sprayed finish on my woodwork will be worth all the additional prep! Thank you!!!
Good confident, competent spray work. Unlike most of the jokers that put video on here. I have worked all over the UK, Western Europe, Australia and the US and I can say that generally the US painters have the best masking and spraying skills I have seen. And no I'm not from the US, I'm from London.
Thank you Idahopainters for you and the way you explain your painting techniques.I have a Painting Company here in Maryland (Painting Indoors Inc.),and I tell you I'm learning so much from you and I hope you continue your videos, they are really answering every painter questions they ever want to ask,and learning so much along the way.Excellent work, thank you.
Chris, Awesome informative video! Great for the DIY to see how the professionals do it. Very insightful including description of prepping tools, starting and stopping points when spraying. Thank you Bro.
Hey there, from New Zealand. Thanks for the post. I'm going to get the x5 and start painting with it. You look a bit like Lance Armstrong. Cheers, Philip
I didnt use the x5. I used a control spray wagner, and i usually hate wagner with a passion, but for 68 bucks i tried it. It worked out great, and the overspray is so minimal. Only issue is you have to thin the paint for latex. the x5 doesnt need to thin the paint. As far as covering things...the floor right near the baseboard is really all i did.n the top of the baseboard with wide tape. furniture was a good 4 feet away and didnt even get touched. less mess, easier cleanup, cant beat it.
nice work, whats great about spraying is you can cover 3 times better than a brush and roll..So in one coat you are changing the color. Tip size,I buy in bulk 315 tips and use them for jobs like yours, you have great spray pattern here..Now the big question Titan or Graco? I have about 6 or 7 of each brand,my Titan is always leaving me stranded ,Graco just keeps pumping.
You're my go-to guru while learning how to paint; thanks for posting so many videos! I'm curious how you avoid horizontal overlap on the top part of the house? Even scaffolding prob wouldn't run the whole length of that particular start/stop section. Or does it even matter if there's a little overlap because it's so high up and out of the human sight-line....
Im impress how easy looks like to paint with your equipment, I would love try this on my house, can you give list of stuff what I need to buy in order to do my job? Thanks Chris !!
When you spray a house chris, what is your best approach to painting below the sheet metal. Do you mask it off or cut a couple of rolls underneath it and then spray?
thats awesome.. im seriously considering painting my siding now.. in your experience have you ever seen the paint crack from the vinyl expanding on hot days? also, how long does the vinyl paint last before fading enough to require another coat? just curious, but what sprayer are you using, and what were all the light spots on the vinyl that you painted over? crack repair? lastly, what is a ballpark price you/someone would charge for an average size 1800 sqft cape cod - just an general idea is enough.. thanks so much in advace. i will subscribe.
One question, do you go back and do a second coat or is the one coat with overlap enough? I'm using Sherwin Williams Super Paint which they recommended over their Emerald Paint, they told me Emerald was a bit to thick to go through the gun hoever they said I should do two coats. Thanks again.
Bought a house recently and want to spray it. The old paint is Benjamin Moore arbor coat water borne exterior stain. What kind of paint can I use to go over that?
I am preparing to spray paint the walls and ceiling of a good size room. The ceiling and walls will be different colors. I was thinking of spraying the walls first. Then covering the walls with plastic and tape the ceiling/wall corners and spraying the ceiling. I was wondering, is there a better way/faster way of doing this?
Great videos bro!! Im an interior painter and just getting into exterior painting with spray guns. I noticed it was windy in this video and just wondering if you get much over spray plowing around with your guns? Any tips?
how far an over spray travel using those Rac X spray tips? I just worried about the neighbors pearl white Mercedes. Are those tips good with not having over spray?
How do I get rid of flashing on aluminum siding? I am painting a factory and it is flashing bad because of how we had to spray it due to the small crevices.I sprayed it vertically, should I now spray it horizontally?
Been watching a ton of your vids now bud, great work. I'm really considering getting into the business but need some guidance of what tools I would need to start off with first as the basics. Any input helps me out. Thanks
Last year I paint a house exterior with airless. Fog of painting reaches full house and neighbor's car. there with the wind in your video. it does not cause this problem?
***** That's awesome that you were able to visit their HQ. I'm not a contractor but I have a skill set for painting and home remodeling. I've very meticulous on how my projects turn out, they have to be perfect. Some of your tips hopefully will help me when I decide to paint the outside of my house, which is stucco. I am going to do the inside of my house excluding a few rooms. I am going to but an airless sprayer so it comes out cleaner. Rolling takes forever, especially hibiscus red! 7 coats but it's perfect. Thanks for putting up videos for tips and experience to share with us.
You have great vids. I've been spraying a house with t111 siding and using beahr paint. I keep getting holidays where once dry, you can see heavy spots from the sprayer. It's mostly up high where I'm using an extension ladder. Any good pointers to stop this?
your like a painting master ninja, I was going to get a GracoX5 but maybe try my luck with a Ryobi or is that asking for a crappy paint job? The X5 seems to make you buy a bunch of accessories ala cart. I only have one house to paint
hey great videos, I'm about to respray the outside of my house, its wooden slats, and the previous owner has siliconed under the slats, i have seen several videos saying this should be kept clear, do I need to remove all this, alot of it is hard and coming away anyway?
dude, you are the man when it comes to painting with an airless sprayer. I have a quick question for you. I painted a column and bar wall in my basement last night and had trouble with paint spitting. It seemed to only happen when I started the spray or ended the spray, not sure. I have a Graco X5 airless sprayer and a RAC 415 tip. What can I do to eliminate the spitting of paint? I set the spray pressure full out and also I am using a 10" extension. Thanks for any help you can give me. I have 6 doors to paint and 2 sets of slide closet doors real soon and don't want to screw them up.
Use a wet rag to wipe the tip after each time you spray. On doors start your trigger squeeze before you move the gun across the door if you don't want to wipe tip.
You really need to do another video in order to give folks a better idea. I have just the house for you to use for your next video ) You make it look so easy. Now I look down and see someone else said that too. Must be true,
Great job and video. My major difficulty in painting old things (specially doors, windows, etc) is to remove old painting layers without spending much time and effort peeling and scratching all. Is there some easy way to get rid of the old painting layers?
I don't know why I sat here and watched this whole thing. Probably my obsessive compulsive need to watch him finish the job. . .and then he leaves a gap. *shakes head*
what kind of paint are you using exactly? I noticed you are painting a darker color onto a light color vinyl which would normally cause buckling under high heat. Are you using the "vinylsafe" from Sherwin williams? If not what paint would you recommend I use to paint over light colored exterior vinyl? Thanks, Seth
+Seth Swanson nevermind. I found it in the comments. I can assume if youre using sherwin williams then that is what you like and trust. I will use the "vinylsafe". thanks, good video
Would you recommend this for a do-it-yourselfer? My mom needs her house painted and I was tossing around the idea of renting a sprayer and doing it for her.
Great video Chris very helpful. I'm currently repainting my new home. I'm painting aluminum siding and wanted to know if you have a specific paint you recommend? Also do I have to use an oil based paint since it's metal? Any help would be appreciated

Start and Stop points are a great tip, will help me in painting house trim up high.
Great video and explainations for new guys and gals
Thank you 🤙
Excellent. Gets me ready to help my son on his place next week.

Do you just go over it once? If so, is that because the 50% overlap is essentially a second coat?
Dude! Your painting tips just saved me HOURS!
Quality work ! Much better hose and Jose in last video !
Chris,
Awesome informative video!
Bet you don't cycle like Lance Armstrong. Cheers. Keep up the good work.
I bet he doesn't cheat like Lance Armstrong either
Good I'll paint this old house myself this way
You are a very good painter

Really good instructions for horizontal! It would be really interesting to see how you go about vertical board and batten?
***** Looking forward to it. Thanks!
Thanks for all your tips
This guys know what he is doing
How would you suggest refinishing an old wooden barn? Where the previous paint is flaking? And what is the best cover up solution?
That was killer motion you had. good stuff man!
best paint sprayer on a budget, comparable to what is in the video?
Ty from hawaii u make it look so easy
Excellent ! Great job that the way I spray my lap siding ...

Mask if you need too
Great video. If you don't mind me asking what kind of set up do you have in this video.
Is there a big difference between starting your spray from top to bottom or bottom to top like you demonstrated?
perfect work, man that is a pro. respect
Greetings from Germany
Thanks Chris - I'm going to use some of your tips tomorrow
Im impress how easy looks like to paint with your equipment, I would love try this on my house, can you give list of stuff what I need to buy in order to do my job?
Thanks Chris !!
It's a aluminum siding, Sherwin Williams paint I'm going to use it, I will power washing first, do I have to use primer paint? Thx
Thanks Chris, your work is very helpful....can you explain what to do when high on the ladder? Also is it best to do trim last?
yes i do some painting and that is how is done, good job
whats a good air compressor for use with a professional spray gun? Like what cfm and hp is good? and what prices should i expect?
When you spray a house chris, what is your best approach to painting below the sheet metal. Do you mask it off or cut a couple of rolls underneath it and then spray?
seems this airless spraying is the way to go for professional work as it seems very fast and neat. Any disadvantages?
Very professional, keep it up.

Thank you so much.
Great videos bro!! Im an interior painter and just getting into exterior painting with spray guns.

When painting garage doors, you recommend spraying vertically (less walking). Why not spray vertically when painting siding?
how far an over spray travel using those Rac X spray tips? I just worried about the neighbors pearl white Mercedes. Are those tips good with not having over spray?

I've found that Behr is too thick to spray well with a 515 in a X7. What kind of paint do you use, and do you add any floetrol or anything like that?
Chris what would you recommend buying with the airless sprayer? Extra extention chords ect?
How did you prep the house first? powerwash it?
You have great vids.

Chris Berry for President, that was Bad Azz!
That would be cool to!HAHAH:) have a good one man, stay safe!!! You have awesome talent man. Happy Holidays!!!
Nice technique, you've been spraying for awhile. That's some nice siding! Not much of that round here in western NY....

Will I get the same results from a Graco X5 Airless Paint Sprayer
?
I watch this every night just before I turn the light out 💤
Old video but just wondering if you’ve had to thin your paint?
I'm going to spray my new lp smart siding can I use a cabot solid siding stain in my sprayer. what would you use . do I need two coats.

Do you spray a oil base product with your 440? If so, How much work is it to cleaning after using? What cleaning product would you suggest?
+Clarence Holloway I normally use my Graco Truecoat for oil base. But never used my Titan 440 with oil base.
helps alot with tha extention? good job man, and tips.
Great information. Thank you for the demo.

Great thanks for the tip!

Hey Chris, really appreciate your video's the most informative i've seen , helped me a lot, cheers Brett
Wow brother you're awesome.
I've noticed that you're using a graco sprayer, may I ask wich model you have?
Also, what are these vertical white points on the wall? Some kind of reference point?
Thanks a lot for this video.
Graco 395
How would you repaint a brick exterior? The existing paint is powdery and turns your hand white when you touch it.
Does it matter if you paint from bottom up or top down?
Hey Chris, awesome job man. I am new to the paint sprayer and I am on a budget.
I was looking at the Graco X5 or X7 for interior and exterior...what is your views on these two models, professional opinion????
DIY sprayers I would not buy
