It fascinates me how individual and specific James' tastes and passions are. I always forget what a huge metal fan he is, too. Love how he's just rattling off virtually every metal band during the late 70's and 80's, then he suddenly arrives at Michael Jackson. Ha. The King of Pop transcends all genres I guess.
I got one of those public domain 50 pack sets for my late grandfather because all he did the last decade of his life was watch Encore Westerns and mow the lawn.
+0215MADman I watch that channel a lot too, the Riflemen and Gunsmoke are actually really well made shows which still stand up to this day if you actually take the time to view them and get to know the characters.
It's kind of depressing when you see the DVD box set you bought around ten to fifteen years ago for around sixty to a hundred dollars repackaged into one DVD case and sold for $9.95 nowadays.
I do too. I remember it used to be such a treat to go out and rent a video on the weekend. I usually rented two or three to keep me busy. Now all we have is redbox and Netflix.
James there are three films you absolutely MUST purchase that make any zombie film collection complete. Return Of The Living Dead parts I and II and Re-Animator.
I love watching this video way way more than any (insert name) movie critic’s collection because eveytime you watch those its all the same thing, you know what you’re gonna get, the marvel movies, the Star Wars movies, all the big franchises and blockbusters but with James you have no clue, he owns all these weird obscure films and old horrors its so intriguing I swear I could just go through his stuff for hours if I were there
Wow! Watching this & your latest transformation of the video library, amazing how far it has come. You've inspired me to do a video library room to house my 8000+ DVD & 2000+ VHS collection. Thank you sir!
My mother is just the same, her DVD collection is enormous. Honestly, being born in the year 1997, I actually have a good variety of VHS tapes. Mainly are my childhood, mostly Disney films, the Pokémon episodes I grew up with, and some recorded stuff.
Stefano Pavone If I remember correctly I watched a few Indigo League episodes, the movie from 2000, and played a few Gameboy games. I still have two tapes and one game, the rest was sold at a yard sale back in 2008.

watching this, it feels like a person is talking about the DVD's while 'The Thing' from Adams Family is running around & pulling out the DVD's from the shelfs
my collection is not as impressive as his, but I am content with my 365 DVDs. takes years and a lot of money to accumulate such a collection. I love how real James and Mike are. I'd be very happy to have you guys as neighbors. if you guys were my neighbors, I'd buy you guys a 24 pk of rolling rock and whatever Mike's into.
james: can you do an update of you and mike's collection if you have the time- or at least post the uncut copies of this and mike's collection? also- this video gave me pointers on how to organize my movie collection some time ago.
James Rolfe does NOT seem like the kind of guy who would get into anime or manga, even with his love for martial arts and Kaiju films. He'd probably like Berserk or Chainsaw Man though.
The way I organize MY film collection is to order them by release date, and if that film has a sequel, prequel, and/or spin-off, I would put that film with it.
you can tell that James has a strong passion for film and movies. Good for you James wish I could of seen you for the live screening of the AVGN movie in New York. Hopefully I can see your next movie.
She wouldn't care. He and his wife have a passion for movies, and they both like almost the same genres together. The only big thing that James and his wife don't share the same passion for is, ironically, video games. His wife never plays them and never cared them. That's why his video game collection is in the basement, lol.
James u dont need to buy a movie in a foreign language only ,just to learn that language - lol just play it with the appropriate other language subs on man =)
A lot of movie collectors (like myself) enjoy the movie, but also enjoy commentary track or behind the scenes or bonus features such as bloopers and such. It allows the viewer to learn more about a particular movie and possibly appreciate it more.
I also had several great Halloween movies but I only miss was the first carpenter the first installment of this wonderful saga of terror recalls the night he comes home ...
Oh my god, I'm watching this guy go over his dvd collection. I could be with family or learning to cook or dance. What am I doing with... Wow, that's a really nice three stooges collection.
As of now, I have movies that are transferred from DVD's to digital format, but now, I started to collect home movie formats that are 8mm including cartoons from Castle Films. I'm a fan of Castle Films that made home movies including the cartoons that are in the Public Domain which is the ComiColor cartoons by Ub Iwerks. Castle Films also made Woody Woodpecker, the one he mentioned in a "Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout" episode and on a horrible "Universal Theme Park" game for the Gamecube.
No way, I'm reorganizing my dvd collection and I was just taking a break when I saw that James had the same problem with filing Army of Darkness! Coincidence I think :P
"I don't know why I own that" followed by nervous laughter...
Sure, James, sure.
That happens to me and yes I know this is old but I owned lots of movies that I literally don’t know how I got.
I could watch James Rolfe do anything. it's just flat-out entertaining. This one for some reason is really relaxing. Don't ask me why :P
hehe Same
I'm still holding out hope for AVGN gyros, like in the ROB episode.
Abdel arch AVGN Cooking coming soon.
Why?
You're 100% correct
It fascinates me how individual and specific James' tastes and passions are. I always forget what a huge metal fan he is, too. Love how he's just rattling off virtually every metal band during the late 70's and 80's, then he suddenly arrives at Michael Jackson. Ha. The King of Pop transcends all genres I guess.
just listen to mjs give in to me :)
frozenaorta I used to metal and then I started to listen too EDM, but then I jump back listening to metal
If it weren't for James, I probably wouldn't have embraced my eclectic taste in movies and music as much.
well, mj's music videos are legendary
I got one of those public domain 50 pack sets for my late grandfather because all he did the last decade of his life was watch Encore Westerns and mow the lawn.
+0215MADman I watch that channel a lot too, the Riflemen and Gunsmoke are actually really well made shows which still stand up to this day if you actually take the time to view them and get to know the characters.
You should make an update video about your movie collection.
Cinemassacre
He did in 2016 with his video rental store looking basement mancave.
James can you do a video on your CD, cassette, and vinyl collection AKA music collection?
No, NEVER
I don't think he replies to comments
Godzilla Guy not on this video, but one day.
@@jboy3296 death's head ☠ :)
I really want to see James and Mike's current collections
Update please
It's kind of depressing when you see the DVD box set you bought around ten to fifteen years ago for around sixty to a hundred dollars repackaged into one DVD case and sold for $9.95 nowadays.
I bought a limited edition collector's edition box set last year for like $230
Many are like that now. I'm really glad I didn't get into the game till about 5 years ago.
RIP James' arm
I'd love to spend a day in James' house just going through his stuff
Exactly right? He is just so fascinating, in the same way like Stan Lee Rip 1922-2018
Me too.
Not creepy at all
If you look closely, you can see some of the DVDs from the YKWBS DVD episode.
I miss video stores...
I do too. I remember it used to be such a treat to go out and rent a video on the weekend. I usually rented two or three to keep me busy. Now all we have is redbox and Netflix.
***** yeah, on demand is more efficient, but I got to meet people and have memories at a video store.
neil robarge I still have a Family Video where I live!
jetex1911 lucky, where do you live? I live in San Francisco. No more video stores there.
+neil robarge they always had that smell... just the video store smell lol
The Mothra VHS cover kinda looks like an 80's metal album.
6:38 My father has owned that DVD for 15 years and it has been burned into my mind my whole life.
James there are three films you absolutely MUST purchase that make any zombie film collection complete. Return Of The Living Dead parts I and II and Re-Animator.
He has them. They're just not in the video
What are these movies you're talking about? Never heard of them.
Re animator is on dead meat so you can go watch them. It's more of a review actualy.
you have a mad taste in music and movies! good stuff!
You and Mike should do an updated video on your collections! It's been a long time since this was posted.
I love watching this video way way more than any (insert name) movie critic’s collection because eveytime you watch those its all the same thing, you know what you’re gonna get, the marvel movies, the Star Wars movies, all the big franchises and blockbusters but with James you have no clue, he owns all these weird obscure films and old horrors its so intriguing I swear I could just go through his stuff for hours if I were there
I felt so much Nostalgia when the Donkey kong music came on at the beginning xD
Really appreciate you holding the camera for so long to film for us all of your movie collection :)
I was at that Heaven and Hell Europe DVD concert 😄
Thanks to these videos, my DVD collection has risen gradually and require of a whole garage to be placed in! Thank You!
*into starts with music* *James takes his skin off to reveal that it was Monto in disguise* "I will slow video down JUST A LITTLE BIT!"
Why isn't 8 mile in the music category?
Because it was scripted and filmed, the other were either documentarys or live concert footage, 8 mile was a film
Oh. Ok just curious.
Z0MBIESLAYER5 yeah thats just my opinion though!
Sounded legit xD
braedon eves Yet This is Spinal Tap was in Music. Hmm
Great collection, James. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I really, really want the "Fucked up horror trailers" tape, the cover design seems to be one of the best ever.
Wow! Watching this & your latest transformation of the video library, amazing how far it has come. You've inspired me to do a video library room to house my 8000+ DVD & 2000+ VHS collection.

My mother is just the same, her DVD collection is enormous. Honestly, being born in the year 1997, I actually have a good variety of VHS tapes. Mainly are my childhood, mostly Disney films, the Pokémon episodes I grew up with, and some recorded stuff.
I was born in 1999. never got into Pokemon myself. I always thought it had a good idea, but a bad TV show.
Commanderwolf74 We all have our opinions, I only liked seeing Pikachu.
Stefano Pavone If I remember correctly I watched a few Indigo League episodes, the movie from 2000, and played a few Gameboy games. I still have two tapes and one game, the rest was sold at a yard sale back in 2008.
***** Yeah, I never saw the second gen, they started putting them on DVD. I was done with Pokémon at that point.
I watch TV programs from 1997 on UA-cam and the quality is so bad, being born in the 90's, I feel old.
I'm so glad you didn't skip over the Pantera home video 3 without giving it a mention. It's just so good..
You should review all those videogame based animations from the 80s and 90s.

There's an updated version on their website. It's completely different now and totally worth taking a look at.

watching this, it feels like a person is talking about the DVD's while 'The Thing' from Adams Family is running around & pulling out the DVD's from the shelfs

we almost have the same amount of movies
"i wonder why they didnt include it, i had to buy it seperately" and that is why
On my bucket list is written "Spend 24 hours in James' house, rummaging through his stuff like a squirrel"
Watching Mike's and James' video collections is super inspiring - they have great taste :D
James, there are 2 movies you and Mike must see: the legendary anime film "Akira" and the prequel to Evil Dead, "Back In The Woods".
Would love to see an update on your film collection James, btw cant you just choose a different audio-track on your american rocky dvd?
We bought a Blu-Ray player recently. I still watch my DVDs though. Our VCR broke a while back.
It's interesting to compare this collection to the one 5 years later (with the giant Video Store room where you keep them).
James i like your cat i hope you like my cat

12:04 kino means cinema in german
@13:02 Dang that little sound bite is so nostalgic - it used to be in every other thing it seems like!
Aww, I didn't want the video to end! I could have listened to you for an entire hour just talk about random movie stuff. It's so cosy and relaxing.
I really expected you to have this huge Manga collection somewhere. Damn!
I would not expect the Nerd to have a manga collection, I think it's too "modern" for him.
James Rolfe does NOT seem like the kind of guy who would get into anime or manga, even with his love for martial arts and Kaiju films.
He'd probably like Berserk or Chainsaw Man though.
I luv his Cats.
The way I organize MY film collection is to order them by release date, and if that film has a sequel, prequel, and/or spin-off, I would put that film with it.
An update to both Mike and James's DVD collections would be awesome XD
I love your collection. One can tell that you are passionate about the horror-genre, unlike some hipster-douchebag.
sbbassslapper he was going to do that starting with TMNT 3, but the whole Angry Movie Nerd was cancelled.. you can still see TMNT 3 tho
I don't have a DVD or VHS collection anymore.
But I do have AVGN.
you can tell that James has a strong passion for film and movies. Good for you James wish I could of seen you for the live screening of the AVGN movie in New York. Hopefully I can see your next movie.
nice review James. when you said Sin City, I said HOLY SHIT HE LIKES SIN CITY
If you don't want the Star Wars stuff, I'll have it
James is one of those nostalgic people who have really fun stuff to play or watch with. I wish I knew him in real life.

She wouldn't care. He and his wife have a passion for movies, and they both like almost the same genres together. Cool how you set up the "video store" in your house. It looks great. That would be a cool thing to do.

Great video James. I'm sure your collection has grown a lot since then.
Oh wow, my dad used to have that same copy of "War of the Worlds" on tape! Cool!
Did I see no Pink Floyd in that collection? James I am disappointed with you.
He definitely has at least one Pink Floyd DVD, he has referenced them on multiple occasions....
He have Pink Floyd the wall movie on vhs
Godzilla dvds 22:12
So many VHS tapes! At 13:40 or thereabouts, there is a DVD case and the cover insert has a VHS logo at the top, just like a VHS tape from the '80s.
awesome collection good to c someone else with the eerie indiana set
James u dont need to buy a movie in a foreign language only ,just to learn that language - lol just play it with the appropriate other language subs on man =)
the Wu-Tang Clan got their name from a movie called Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang
I like the DK music playing at the beginning. :3 Makes it start off all kicking back.
A lot of movie collectors (like myself) enjoy the movie, but also enjoy commentary track or behind the scenes or bonus features such as bloopers and such. It allows the viewer to learn more about a particular movie and possibly appreciate it more.
I gave my copy of Phantom Menace to my buddy's dog so he could have a chew toy

That would be the same as me saying 'What,, Michael jackson but no Morbid Angel, Death, bathory? Come on!' Different people, different tastes.
Of all movies the one thing I’m suprised James has is 8 mile
I also had several great Halloween movies but I only miss was the first carpenter the first installment of this wonderful saga of terror recalls the night he comes home ...
where is the porns?
I see my most favorite Disney Classic Flim on 📀 Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, The Sword in the Stone and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
my passion for collecting is evaporatedby the fact that all of them are now available online
They actually do now have a box set with all the Halloween movies. It also includes the remakes

your taste in movies is absolutely amazing
I love to see James dvd & blu Ray collection update and make parts that would be awesome
Now I want to see that "F**ked Up Horror Trailers" Tape...
I wish Cinemasscre still consisted of content like this
I remember him mentioning the game in the 2011 AVGN Christmas Special (the one with the rhymes), so I guess he has the game.
