I wish they did. Mike said he rather have his DVD/bluray collection listed in text on Cinemassacre, and seem to refuse to show it off. James didn't, I think? But both have their game collection up their as well. I'm more of a film/cartoon/show fan than game fan, so I would jizz myself if they did an updated collection. They did some VHS collection videos, but not much beside it. We only get slight looks into it. They showed some in the Harold Ramis tribute video
@@melvinbutchhoot On one of James videos, he is showing off a Star Trek VHS collection he got from Mike, and Mike says he gave away his tapes to James because he was lackiing space at his house, but he was still keeping all his digital disc media (DVDs, Blurays).
Ha, I would agree, but I do have my simpsons movie after my simpsons seasons, and it is before my futurama seasons, and I have cannibal the musical, orgazmo, baseketball, south park movie, and orgazmo after my south park seasons, and before my complete series of thats my bush, the only reason i would do such a thing is because of obvious reasons, but they may be excuses, lol
Good point. Strange that I've done it the other way around. I've got my movie versions of South Park and Simpsons placed into the TV section, and it didn't even occur to me to put Orgazmo with the South Park DVDs. Anyway, I'm still glad I had a chance to bust out with my Indiana Jones quote.
Middle Aged Nerd Is that from the scene in last crusade, where Indy asks to see the tapestries and the guy's like "if you are scottish royalty THEN I AM MICKEY MOUSE!!!?
This is super nostalgic. Same as renting VHS in the 80s and 90s. Shopping dvds in the 2000s was such a huge part of my life. I had at least 3 huge dvd collections exactly like this. 2002-2012 RIP
Totally agree with you Mike about no Trailers on DVD's but I will say this, "The Cable Guy" on bluray not only has the trailer, it has it in actual 1080p quality where as most blurays (those that have them lack of trailers in worse on bluray) are usually up scaled. Also The Cable Guy was goos value and is loaded with features like Commentary by Jim Carrey, Ben Stiller and Jud Apatow, usually Jim Carrey never does commentary on his films. So for me The Cable Guy was one of my favorite blurays to own. :)
I think Mike's the only one I've ever heard say they like the 50s version of The Thing better than the 80s John Carpenter version. They're both awesome though. Even the new one that came out a few years ago was an awesome addition to the franchise.
I've just finished writing the script for a video with my DVD recollections. This has inspired me to make a little video about my own DVD/Blu-Ray collection.
Especially with a lot of these older or more obscure movies not being on anything or if you do find one it's on yet another new streaming platform you aren't subscribed to
I like these types of videos. Feels like we're just kinda hanging out with them, in a sense. I'd also like to see more game collections from both of them. Neat stuff!
I would love another update of Mike's DVD collection! Maybe talk a little more about his not inconsiderable cartoon collection--because who doesn't love cartoons? I know you guys did an episode about his VHS collection but I'm curious to see his thoughts on some of the recent cartoon Blu-Rays. Also, where does he buy his shelves
I'm more or less the same when it comes to my book collecting; everything has to look perfect in alphabetical/chronological order or I'm not satisfied.
Me too with my DVDs. With box sets, I can never decide if it looks better to turn them around, displaying all the movies in them (like Mike has his in this video) or to just have the title of the set facing out.
I think those Wayne's world dvds are the same realses my brother has. The menus on those are so cool, it's like a TV guide and you can watch short previews of other Paramount releases like The brady Bunch.
Oh c'mon Mike , when you say that you like the original version of ' The Thing ' over the ' Carpenter ' remake ...then i deffy think that you are not being truthful imo
i noted some of the used stickers from FYE stores. nothing wrong with that, most of mine boast the same sticker, i mention it only because i work for one of their stores in southwest PA. kudos for the support, and i love these videos.
Then you get things all separated. Like Jurassic Park 1 and 2 will be apart from 3, almost every harry potter movie, ninja turtles, alien, jaws sequels, star treks, etc. Would just be a mess?
I honestly don't think so. I mean, I know he watches new things in the theatre but what he's showing are what mostly watches. Look, I have huge respect for Mike in everything he does at Cinemassacre, both in front of behind the scenes. Everyone, including James says there would be no AVGN if not for him. He just has shitty taste in movies/TV.
I didn't see any of my favourites like Apocalypse Now, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Deer Hunter, Goodfellas, Seven Samurai, The Intouchables etc in his collection but im pretty sure they've watched most of them.
His collection has some good to great titles but it really was all over the place. Alphabetical order is good just not spaning over all those genres being mixed up . I've put some though on it and decided when I get some shelves built that I will organize them by genre and decades. I thought decades because it usually shows the particular era in film as well as their style and development over time.
Yes, the same actor who played the King of Cartoons on Pee-Wee's Playhouse also portrayed Blacula, but the actor is William H. Marshall not Gilbert Lewis (pictured) whom Marshall replaced after the first season.
Very impressive...I didn;t think anyone could beat my mate jasons dvd collection, which features much the same stuff as Mikes and more but, as he's not a big horror fan, Mikes collection does edge ahead purely due to his great representation in that catagory. I really want that Ghostbusters collection in the firehouse! I have seen it before and though it looked great but I have never been able to justify the expense....
It's 2023 and I still collect DVDs
