As a Metallica fan, they have great material, but I am gonna have to go with Pantera on this one. With Dimebags and Vinnie Paul’s intensity, just kicks it up a notch even higher.
The whole idea is great BUT 1) "Walk" riff... You need to re-learn it 2) Master Of Puppets need to be played with ONLY downstroke 3) "Battery" riff you need to re-learn too, because the way you played it is absolutely wrong 4) In "Blackened" riff you out of tempo. Really. 5) Tone is really bad. You need to do something with it That's all, I think

Metallica is more melodic, Pantera is more dark. Both are best of heavy metal. Two very different music styles although from the same cradle. But I noticed that the drum styles of Vinnie and Lars are totally different. Vinnie's strokes are lesser but heavier, while Lars' strokes are faster but lighter. That kind of amplifies the melodicity of Metallica and darkness of Pantera. So with Metallica music my head nod movement is faster and teeth grind in ecstasy [e.g. enter sandman]. Amazing. While with Pantera my head moves slower and my mouth goes to frowning position in admiration [e.g. walk]. Equally Amazing.

Reinventing the steel was like a modern vulgar with FBD Heaviness and oozing black Sabbath influence. Phil returned to singing on parts of 10 of the 12 songs (includin 2 b sides). Dimes best guitar and phils best vocals on RTS.
