LOL the 3rd demonstration in the beginning made me laugh so hard for some reason! x'D
He goes: "AAAAGGHH!" **kick lands** >aggressor immediately turns into a turtle and crawls away
Shubham pawar
Yes slightly but not 90 degrees otherwise you make a side kick instead and you get the problems I demonstrated in the video. Good luck :)
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Darn it.. for the whole time I did the back kick.. I was actually doing the turning Side Kick -__- thanks for this great video.. :D
No problem and good luck :)
same
There are a few differences which i will explain in the spin back tutorial which is currently uploading. But in advance, i will tell you that the spinning back kick is so much stronger if done correctly. It will be up in just over an hour :)
The spin back kick is being uploaded as i'm typing so if your wondering where the link is, it will be up shortly :)
This is my most favorite kick during sparring. Add a little hop for some explosive motion and it'll catch the opponent pretty off guard.
Appreciate the support. Thank you and good luck with your future training :)
This is my favorite-get-off-me kick when I spar. I am usually smaller than than my opponent so they always try to maul me. You were absolutely correct about having that knee in close to the body. I had so many issues with that when I first started using this kick. I especially like your segment on using the wall as a training aid...perfect. Thank you for sharing, another awesome session.
You are a great teacher! This has always been the hardest kick for me.
👍
I'm glad you like them and that they help :) Thank you and good luck with your training :)
Thank you for this. I used to do tkd a long time ago when i was younger. I just started training again. You are a good teacher.
Hi, i am great thank you. Hope everything is going well for you too. Your ideas are welcomed :) I may put a pattern up soon. Thank you :)
This tutorial helped me a lot, I have problems with this kick and yes, I have read and watched tutorials, but they've never helped me that much; when in practice, I get frustrated easily due to my own stress- what if I'm gonna fail it all, even my own brain tells me 'Oh look, everyone can do it better than you!' And may give up or do everything with anger which harms my focusing. Now that I have pretty good image of what I should be doing, I can't wait for the next opportunity to practice.
Lynx Phoenix I'm glad that I could help :)
Don't need to do Taekwondo to kick :) I appreciate your support. Thank you :)
Great video Mr. Gassor. Your technique is excellent. I think that the back kick is driven more by gluteus maximus while the side kick is driven more with the quadriceps and the rotation on the supporting leg. So a back kick has power through its entire stroke making it more dangerous to charge or jam. Side kick on the other hand makes power only near the end of its stroke when the quads and hip rotation focus so that it is possible for the defender to jam it by moving forward. You made a good point regarding striking with the blade of the foot versus the heel of the foot. The heel, if the kick is on line does way more damage.
lol I appreciate your support and i appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) That's great and i'm glad they will help. Good luck with your training :)
VERY helpful! Thanks so much!
I'm glad you found it helpful and no problem :)
great video..the ushiro geri is truly a force to be reckoned with.. i mean one time i was fighting a brown belt ( i do kudo) and the moment we began he did a back kick and it was an instant ko.. shortest sparring i've ever had
No problem and good luck :)
Thanks, you've helped me a lot, I was wondering what kind of stretches are most effective in order to kick higher with your back kick, because in my front kicks, and side kicks, I can kick higher than my head, but for my back kick, I can barely manage to kick above my waist. If you could help me out I'd really appreciate it.
Very detailed explanation with comparisons of wrong and correct motion! Plus with lovely British accent~! Very useful video!
No problem :) That's great and I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Thanks for the video sir it help me a lot in my back kick. And sorry if i write something bad but i still learning English.
Glad you like them and really appreciate your feedback. Thank you :)
This helps a lot since today I'm testing for my black belt and I'm having trouble with back kick
You can but it's a smaller target and easier for the opponent to block or move out of the way. The body is an easier option as it's bigger and harder for them to cover completely or to move out of the way quick enough :)
Thank you, Aaron! Your tutorials really help me practice when I'm on the road for work.
No problem and i'm glad they help :)
Thank you :) It is a great kick :)
ur balance is incredible, bro
Thanks for this video ..due to this video I realize my mistake ....now I can back kick perfectly than before.. once again thanks...
you're freaking amazing-- enthused by your polished technique!
+Adam Kean I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Amazing video as always. About the leaning of the body, it does apply in the execution of the side kick too, right?? My heavy bag weighs about 120 KGS so it is a little difficult for me to thrust into it as I happen to stumble sometimes. Your advice please.
0:08 made my day.
I don't at the moment but maybe in the future :)
Funny how today earlier I was thinking that you should make a back kick tutorial, and what do you know, a back kick tutorial!
Thanks for the training tips, this should help a lot!
the wall!! good idea!! thanks a lot master GNT :)
ahahahahahaha the charging roars made my night, just subbed you mate.Awesome videos, I myself recently started practicing ITF Taekwondo and your videos are going to be a big help. :)
Thank you for this tutorial. :) I was wondering why my back kick wasn't too powerful. I wish I would have found this tutorial earlier though. :P
i'd watch this for almost 10 times :) I got it but I want to make it faster. Thanks sir.
+Arvin Jason Cabrera Keep working on it and it will become faster as you understand and get used to the motion more. Good luck :)
It's good if it's controlled as you can get out of the way of attacks like you say and still deliver the technique with a good amount of force but if you are stumbling back when you kick a target or an opponent then it's not very efficient. Hope that helps and good luck :)
Good info thank you for sharing this
True yes my friend
Question, what's the difference between the turning side kick and spinning back kick? which one is more powerful? and are you going to cover them in the future?
that was very clearly explained thank you
I'm glad you thought so and no problem :)
I tried out your drills today and I realized I had been doing it slightly wrong, I especially never thought about trying to stay upright. I have trouble blasting all the way through the heavybag. Do you have any advice about this? I want to be able to kick the bag like Joe Rogan
I would really appreciate it
Get your weight behind the kick and make sure your kick is travelling straight, not around. Good luck :)
Thank a lot bro.
Nice tutorials and easy to learn.
No problem and I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Awesome 😄 thanks sir.
GingerNinjaTrickster...thanks for making the videos on kicking tutorials...and other great videos...i learn alot from those videos and yeah...i improve my basics haha...you deserve more subscribers btw hahah...

gnt wow u r great and my most respected teacher takyyon sir in my country
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Thank you, I appreciate it
thanks for this videos its very helpful
No problem and i'm glad you thought so :)
You are really good.amazing^^
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Excellent video, though I disagree with using the blade of the foot due to potential ankle flexing, for one (kinda unnatural, too) - the sole is better, and highly effective with footwear (which is when you're using this kind of kick). I only look at these sorts of things from a combat perspective, though, not a competitive one (I'm all about the "martial" part of martial arts ;-). The demo of how it could be used at all sorts of ranges was fantastic. Thanks a ton!
I'm glad you liked it :) The flat has a bigger surface area meaning it will distribute the pressure and cause less damage than with the heel or blade. I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Another great and very informative video Aaron. Thank you!
Yesterday, during practice, I got my wind knocked out by my partner's back kick while I was holding the kicking shield. I suppose I was holding the shield to close to my body and it pushed my holding hand into my rib cage. Are there any certain techniques to be applied while receiving blows to the body and absorb the impact without getting hurt? For example, would exhaling (i.e. tightening the muscles) work? Or should one be more relaxed instead?
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Exhaling will help prevent it yes. Try to condition too so the area is strong :)
Thank you.
Legend..
Nice tutorial, pretty clearfull.
It clarifies all common errors at the hour to do a back kick.
And remember, do not hit your head on the wall..
haha jz kiddg..
Levie4Christ777 I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Best kick..
thank you borther
Do you plan to add subtitles to the video tutorials?
I really want to add subtitles because my english is very poor
I Like Taekwondo very much ❤️❤️🥋🥋🥋👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Thank you!
No problem :)
Brilliant video Aaron! I can perform the back kick, but it seems that the kicks don't generate that much power. What am I doing wrong here?
+Egli Goce Thank you and put your body weight into the kick more. Good luck :)
youre weak
+GingerNinjaTrickster what do you mean by that?
***** Oh my goodness, an Indian commenting on sports. What do you know about sports, anyway? Go and play your pathetic game(cricket) in your shithole of a country, tosser.
thks for tutorial
Aaron, I have a quick question. Do we ever fully extend the leg during the back kick like we do with a side kick? Or does it hit with a slight bend
+James Lee Try to extend through the target yea :)
when i do back kick i lean my torso down and my forearms rest on the ground so i can keep my torso away from weapons. do i loss power or effectiveness via doing so? also i tried lifting the knee before i kick life you do. It makes for a smother kick. nice
do you know what to do when I hit the boxing bah it sometimes hurt and when I try to do any kick that needs a spin, I get dizzi and I fail to land the kick ._.
You have nice form.
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
I follow all ur vids but my maam who is a 5 dan in wtf tkd told us not to chamber the back kick forward rather to chamber it backwards to the hips. what is ur openion about it?
I like to teach it with chambering to the front to get the balance and power in check. Definitely better for beginners in my opinion and then you can change it when you are more experienced with the kick because you know how to use your body more efficiently :)
hello how are you ...
wanted to give you an idea I told my friends ...
that since you did all those videos, we would like to see one so .. or "tools" (not sure if this bie writing tools).
Well, we see how guastaria: D
Choong-Jang
only an idea, we would like to see how this or some other forms jejeje
Very good videos, greetings from Santiago del Estero
Argentina
so as i extend my leg underneath, my body turns slightly with the kick?
what is the best move to fight bullies??
Good but could be lethal.
Throat jab to the larynx with the inside of the thumb and pointer finger. It's a stun attack to follow up with a leg kick. Non lethal
GingerNinjaTrickster I have a question. i have a fight in six months. can u suggest me some simple powerful kicks? thank u
The teep
keep away from them!
@0:08 your friend... Lol... Aaaaaggh
aman thakur lol
I'm little confused. Back kick is half of side kick, is that right? I mean the first step is preparation(i understand this step), and the second step(striking) is same as side kick or it isn't.
It goes under and not from the side.
yep, and it ends up like the side kick form(the posture, the leg, body) is that right?
Rock Madly Nope. It's different as I mention in the video.
GingerNinjaTrickster i got it. Thank you :)
Rock Madly No problem :)
is it necessary to improve back kick before spinning it...
yes, like he said
For sure :)
tell me what should I do to improve my kick :'( I am so stressed :'(
ida siddiqui Keep working on it along with your stretching and i'm sure it will improve. Good luck :)
Yay thank u! U make sense :D because I don't understand the heck my master says! C: he has a bad accent so... Ya ._.
how can i increase height of this kick
4:20 - 4:38 most important part of the video.
When I fully extend my leg my back bends forward is that normal?
Yes
It's taken me 3 years to understand that the foot goes straight back, but the knee goes around.
It took me 3 years to understand that the kick is all about hip hamstring and the tool and has nothing to do with snapping or putting pressure on the knee as the knee moves itself as our hip and hamstring extend and tool is in the same line
I hope I'm better in sparring...
I want you to be my trainer) Thanks for great tutorial
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you and no problem :)
Still struggling with it... I can't seem to fully extend. I don't know why...
Aaryan Shenoy Keep working on it along with your stretching and i'm sure it will improve. Good luck :)
GingerNinjaTrickster It did! After that I continued and especially the spinning back kick.
Aaryan Shenoy That's great! :)
Osu thanks
Great👍but Joe Rogan Style i think more power 😁
my craze for 360 degree kick..destroyed back kick..
your saying chamber the kick but when you exicute the kick your not your only half chambering
+mike turley That's due to speed, when you understand trajectory you don't freeze at a chamber or have to exaggerate it.
then dont teach chambbering just kick with that excellent kick that you did, dont get me wrong it was a excellent kick
mike turley Without teaching the chamber people lose the trajectory...
Thanks :)
good
checkout Chuo Jiao kung fu for some different kind of kicking
I aim for the head (:
