  • This video reviews the Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection Hitch. We discuss why its so good as well as show how to install and use it. I pull with a 2018 Ford F250 with the short box and it works great in this application.

I can prove it’s strong. My Anderson Hitch pulled a 25,000 lbs rig over the Rocky Mountains. I moved my camper from Arizona to NV. NV to UT. Then Utah to Upstate NY. There were no issues at all.

A great improvement when I switched from a B&W Companion to an Anderson. A couple months ago I switched from the Anderson to the Reese Goosebox. Holy Cow! A great improvement over the Anderson and nothing but a ball in the bed.

When I was looking for a diesel truck a few years ago to pull the 5th wheel RV I wanted, I found a sweet GMC 2500HD that already had the B&W turnover ball system. So it was a no brainer to go with the Anderson Ultimate. So glad I did. I’ve towed for 4 years now with no issues whatsoever. I do have the short bed and an in bed tool box. I actually had to buy a new low profile box so the camper wouldn’t make contact. I can turn almost 90 degrees. But I have to be very careful putting items in the back when towing. I ruined a good, and luckily cheap, cooler that way. Good video.

I use the Andersen for our fifth wheel and it’s been perfect. My TV is a Titan XD diesel which has the 6.5’ bed.

How much space from the front of the Anderson hitch to the front of the bed is left? I have the same truck as you 2017 Titan XD and was worried I wouldn't be able to fit a tool box or transfer tank in the front of the bed.

It dont matter what you pull with something gives, squeeks what you feel comfortable with...go with it I have a 2021 keystone fuzion 424 toy hauler...pretty close to 20,000 pounds loaded...use a b&w companion with a Teflon plate ...pulling with a 2012 dodge ram dually 3500...that pin box attachment would be my concern...the tripod looks very sturdy thou

Nice video, well made. One comment...a 5th wheel or toy hauler can surpass or come very close to the 4500 pound max tongue weight. As an example a Grand Design Momentum 397 has a base tongue weight of 3375 pounds. Loaded that can easily surpass 4000 pounds.

So, what type of pinbox do you have? Would changing it out give you the 5" back to clear the cab and bed rails? I know it's not cheap, but...

I was told by a insurance adjuster that hitting the cab will total out a vehicle. The bed is no issue

First time out I hit both sides of my bed rails. Luckily it damaged both my roll top cover frames and $400 later I replaced them both. I have a 2022 long bed Ford F350 SRW so unlike what you stated, it does matter.

    • @timbertimeoutdoors9836
      @timbertimeoutdoors9836  2 роки тому

Yes, this can happen. I had to flip my around 180 degrees to avoid hitting the bed. I still really like this system. I can take it out at the campsite and use the bed for moving my Kayaks or whatever I need to haul.

I just got mine - never have had a conventional 5th wheel hitch either - on my first pull, I had to retorque the hitch as I had some movement(minor) after about 10 miles. I am guessing the installers didn't properly torque. Since then it has been fine. The best part of this hitch is that you can easily remove the kingpin attachment and allow your 5er to be pulled by a conventional(or should that now be called unconventional) hitch - and yes unfortunately we had to do that as our pulling machine was down.

Nice Video bud. Only suggestion...set the camera down and showcase everything, move it when you need to. Walking around and going back and forth between camper and truck...makes people dizzy. :) My anderson is in route.

I have a Anderson Hitch. I am having a problem with the coupler not releasing off the ball. Yes, I did pull the release lever.
When I raise the jacks , they are stressing when raising the trailer and the jacks will only go up a little ways until they are overriding themselves.
Any suggestions how to release ?

Try putting blocks under the base to help extending the jacks. I have the pull rite system which almost the same.

Looking real close at the Anderson, but saw a review that they sway at high speeds. They didn't say what they consider high speed. Have you or anyone else out there have any issues with that. Recently retired and plan on traveling across the US for several months. Thanks for the Video!

I’ve towed across country four times with the Anderson hitch. I have used both my Ram 2500 SRW and my Ram 3500 DRW. I pull a 16,500 BigHorn 3870 FB , with the 2500 I got a little trailer sway, more so from I was at the maximum limits of the truck. With the 3500 I don’t feel a thing. I drive the speed limits and have never had problems. I think it way quieter then any standard hitch. It’s nice to be able to take it out so quick and I can do it by myself.
