    In most states, crossbows are a bit newer to the hunting woods. They haven’t been around as long as firearms and vertical bows. At least as far as legal hunting weapons. Because of this many crossbow hunters start out on a learning curve and go through an evolutionary process of developing crossbow knowledge. We can all say that archery is archery. But the truth is, there are some differences between crossbows and vertical bows. As of this writing, Vertical bows are not producing the kind of speed that modern crossbows are. I’m not trying to suggest that speed is the be all, end all. What I am saying is that if you directly compare everything you learned with vertical bows, You may be in for a couple of surprises when it comes to Crossbows.

  • @douglasborgaro6801
    @douglasborgaro6801 День тому

    Hunters that come from a vertical bow background often say that crossbows are loud. They are a lot louder than vertical bows! Sound dampening accessories will reduce the arrow speed. Most hunters that were rifle hunters don’t complain nearly as much about how noisy crossbows are. Crossbows and vertical bows do have some differences. In spite of your thoughtful tips, trust me, don’t waste your time worrying about how loud it is. Perhaps this sounds counterintuitive to you? Crossbows will never be as quiet as vertical bows! No matter what you do, You can’t make them silent, or nearly as quiet. That’s a fact! They will always be louder. The good news is, With the speed of modern crossbows, if you use them within an appropriate range, You shouldn’t have to worry so much about jumping the string. Yup! I said it! Crossbows are different in some ways. If you come from a background of vertical bow hunting, You may naturally assume that crossbows follow the same standards and are exactly comparable. Nonetheless, This is a mistake that’s often made. With a 400 ft./s crossbow, Your maximum range to avoid a deer jumping the string should be out to 40 yards. I tell you this based on a lot of information out there and research on the matter. Yes, it is true crossbows do not surpass the speed of sound, but that is not the full point. When a deer hears the noise, their brain has to process the information and then react to it. It is not just as if a deer disappears. I have a Ravin R10 and a TenPoint Nitro 505. My furthest shot with these or any crossbow is 35 yards. If any of the old vertical bow hunters out there believe that a deer could jump the string at the speeds those crossbows are producing at such ranges, then you haven’t shot them before. 350 fps will give you 30-35 yards, 380= 38 yards, 400 fps= 40 yards and so on. Speeds under 350 fps are more like vertical bows and the truth is it’s a little bit different.

    Mtronix is it’s weak link. The operator/owner needs to be able to fine tune it when conditions or wear change its operating efficiency. If you empower the end user, than the saw is worth the added expense.

    That’s also a street bike, with those tires. There’s no way you will have the control and traction in gravel or soft surface roads that you will want, with those tires. Unfortunately the ADV bikes don’t do anything well. They are a compromise in all areas. Too light for dedicated road miles, too heavy for actual off-road duty. The tires you need for soft surfaces will suck on the road, and vice versa. I had and sold two BMW GS’s, for all the previous reasons. Always a disappointment, whether on the road or off.

    I appreciate your videos, and the Ranger seems very nice. But I'm confused by the interior space/storage comments. The Defender has comparable storage and more cab space overall. Not to mention the center console feature and the added storage box below the seat. Anyway, still a nice machine and I hope it gives you many years of good service. And happy ice fishing from your neighbor to the West. Hoping to make it to Red myself very soon.

    I was looking to see if the 800 would be better for blowing snow than my 600. Seems about the same for light snow under 4 inches which is the max for me with the 600. 800 definitely looks to work better for a larger pile of light snow, but I would probably just use a shovel or snowblower at that point. Thanks for the video

    First time looking at your channel.... that is one sweet setup you have... Just a suggestion (from a Canadian rockies 50-year Fisherman)... get yourself a diesel heater... i finally bit the bullet this year and got a cheap one (after years of using propane).. my son and i had a close call last year, and i didn't want a repeat ever again (it only takes once... we got lucky)..... i have used diesel heater in minus 20 Celsius in a bad wind... never missed a beat ( i did some mods out of the box to make it dead quiet for ice fishing...i fish a LOT For spooky trout)... it costs a quarter of propane to run... and is crazy efficient... its 100% dry heat.... i keep it outside my 6 sided hub so no worries about air problems (we tested with oil field gas tester).... ONE OF THE BEST INVESTMENTS IVE MADE FOR ICE FISHING... Will never use propane again... check it out... you wont regret it. Merry Xmas and happy new year to you and yours Tight lines in the new year.. From my overtaxed, undersized, lob-sided igloo on the mountain in alberta rockies Canada 🇨🇦 P.s... if you decide to go the diesel heater direction, hit me up and i will let you know what i did to make it 90% quieter.... and only cost was a roll of black electrical tape and a half hour of time...LOL

    Bought these. Had them on for 20 minutes. Took them off because my hands were freezing. They're exactly like all other cheap leather gloves. Only good above freezing. Well duh. Superior insulated rubber gloves are warner than these. I don't know why people keep saying they're good when they're garbage. Just get puffy, thinsulate, full rubber palm and backside snowboarding style gloves and you'll be good at temps well below freezing. It's physics. Dead air space, thinsulate for thermal wind break (no different than the benefits of a windbreaker jacket), and aid in heat retention, and full rubber for waterproof (water resistant is NOT the same thing) This isn't rocket science. Your checklist: - Full rubber outer (no leather on planet earth stays dry) - thinsulate liner - fleece inner - puffy style That's it. That's what you need if you're seriously trying to keep warm in VERY cold temps well below freezing. Anything -5 and above freezing is any generic glove like this, but even then, get full rubber outer with fleece inner and thinsulate. You just don't need puffy. Ironworker, mechanic and construction worker my whole life. I've sorted this out a long time ago over years of trying everything under the sun. The best gloves have the checklist, and you do NOT have to pay big money for them. They're work gloves. You're going to beat the shit out of them. So find a pair you like, buy 5 pairs, and forget about, lol. If you want a good pair of gloves by this company, the Kinco, full rubber Hydroflector thermal knitset gloves (model 1784P) are the best I've found for around freezing. They look like any other rubber winter glove, but you'll see what i mean when you put them on. The dexterity is fantastic. I had milwaukeea, dewalts, carhardt, you name it. In time i dwindled the pack down to these. As for very cold, there are tons of gloves with the checklist I mentioned. Brand doesn't matter. It's the checklist that does.

    Nice setup! What I didn't understand was the not towing sled due to vibration and your electronics? Is the concerning vibration from towing sled only an issue if you are putting your gear in the sled for transport or are you saying the vibration from towing translates to the ATV and gear in the Otterbox? I see a lot of guys towing their sled vice hauling it like you are so curious.
