Knew a man called Keiv. Good guy. He gave us weed and konyak. One day I came by the usual place and found him alone up in the scafolding, playing that guitar of his. I never knew how to play such things, never had time. But he played well, so I snuck behind some crates and listened. He played in the silence of the warehouse for an hour or so, then...started to cry. Kiev! Man never even so much as scoffed most of the time, and yet here he was. I dont know why but...i left. I never saw a vet cry. Rookies on their first nights, sure. Those who got nowhere to go, or weren't ready for what was out here. I never did. Came here with a clear conscience and no strings. A free man with no burdens. So seeing Keiv of all men like that. It felt...wrong. Made me feel like it was my first night in the Zone all over again. I left some bread and vodka below for when he came down, closed the warehouse door as quietly as I could, then just kinda slumped against it. Didn't want anyone else stumbling in on that. I drank in the rain, eventually passed out.. Never did learn. Never did ask. And I never told anyone. Sometimes I think I see him glance at me when we happen to all gather there. But his secret was safe with me. The Zone can be a hard for even the hardest of veterans. If your reading this, you probably have my PDF and I'm probably dead like ol' Mole is.. Not gonna speculate why. But if you find Kiev, buy him a bottle for me. He bought me plenty, and I owe him that much. I left some emergency money behind those crates in our warehouse incase we had reason to celebrate. So celebrate. To the veterans. To the rookies. To the Zone.
The zone is hard on everyone even the toughest veterans, and I have my guitar on me maybe I can play something for you and I’ll buy Kiv that drink stalker don’t worry it’s on me
This is very well done, I was not entirely convinced until I heard the military loudspeaker. It brought me back to a rainy night on the rookie village. Someone playing guitar, the rain, the goddamn annoying loudspeaker, somebody getting eaten by dogs in the background. It really has it all. Thanks for giving me a few moments of nostalgia and an odd feeling of peace and quiet. If you ever make any others like these, I'd be happy to listen to them.
that somehow reminds me when i played Stalker Anomaly, i was walking around with 3 Companions all clear sky and we heard the Rain falling down on your Suits and then somewhere in the Distance this song playing. We gathered around a Fireplace and waited for the rain to go away until a Loner came to us with a guitar in his hands and playing this song, behind him were a Couple of Bandits, Duty, Freedom and other soldiers... they sat down at the Fireplace too and we all listened to the Loner playing. No one died that day and we all became friends... until the Monoliths came.
He had only arrived a few days ago.. he played guitar, brought a bit of life to cordon... we knew once the dog had barked, they found Grimya before we could. We found blood, spent ammo. But... the guitar, it didn't stop until the rain did.
This reminds of the time I was playing Anomaly, stumbling out of Pripyat after encountering a chimera and bloodsucker duo. As I entered jupiter, I heard screams and gunshots coming from the jupiter plant, followed by a plea of help on the PDA from loners walking into a pseudogiant. Judging by my lack of ammo I knew I could do no help. So I listened. I listened as the gunshots and cries of help faded, and were replaced by deafening silence. I know no names, but whoever they were, I’m so, so sorry. May they rest peacefully.
It's something an outsider won't be able to understand. How the zone, this deadly place where everything is trying to kill you gives us stalkers such a feeling of peace, yet the atmosphere is only complete with mutant howls, gunshots and distant screams...
For me, the reason why S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is such an oddly serene, if not even spiritual experience for so many people, is because The Zone represents some fundamental truths about the human condition, especially the search for meaning and a reason to keep going. Gets you thinking, man. Also: I dunno if that's intentional or not but I really like how whatever Stalker is playing it actually strums the strings a bit, almost as if he were tuning the guitar.

I remember me and Vitaly used to shelter under bridge during the heavy rains. We sat many hours with nothing else to do but drink vodka, clean the shotguns, and pass around packet of makhorka. He had guitar too and he always played this song after the makhorka was gone. Then one night I came back from the wild territory and Vitaly wasn't at usual meeting spot. I camped out for a few days, maybe he was just hung up, but eventually I had to get going. And a couple months later I kill bandit who wore his jacket. Damn it. He was a good stalker.
This is awesome, the rain is beautiful ambience for a background to the song, and the additions make it feel as though I'm sat just inside a doorway with a fire nearby, gently playing the guitar whilst events happen around me.
This actually ended up getting me back into Stalker, having this on loop whilst I walked around, coming across the remnants of firefights or animal attacks, picking through the loot and keeping a wary eye out for enemies. God I wish there was a good VR version of Stalker. Into The Radius exists but it's not the same.
So there we were, me and Gregori, eating dry packs. He tell me, Gregori tell me 'I can play guitar like the cowboys in America!' and I told him to prove it. So he did. He played for a minute, then we heard scream and gunshot come from south. Lot of screams and gunshot, most not human screams. Mutants. Gregori is veteran of Zone, big man, rifle and suit of armor. I new in Zone, I bring food with me and a guitar to trade for bullets and information on Anomalys to sell. I have shotgun and makrov, no armor other than big coat. Gregori look me up and down, smiles at me, and tells me to run, handing me rifle and ammo, along with pack and money, and draws his pistol from side, and tells me to run. So, I do. I run very far, very fast, listening to him fight whatever was back there. He saved me, that day. He also have me way of life here and the outside. I make lot of dollar selling Anomalys. When ever I go in, I always go back to spot, and spend the night, drinking vodka for Gregori. Sometime, I swear I hear him playing guitar, laughing at joke I made when he was alive. He ad good man, and I am sad he is gone. But such is life in Zone." Thanks for reading my short story

I wish, more than anything, to have that Stalker life. It's because I want friends who treat me like brothers... People who don't leave you behind in dire situations.
This reminds of the time I killet 3 army soldiers in Cordon for their ammo. Just for me to then see all the guys at the army outpost marchings towards me in a line. The army raided the rookie village, but we got them all... at the cost of half the village's poppulation. I then spent the next hour 'till 2 a.m. cleanning the corpses and making a little graveyard for the fallen rookies, which made me realize poor Nimble was between them. After that I threw the army bastards in a pile out of sheer anger, but, even then, all of that was purely my fault due to my greed of getting some 15 or so bullets for me Ak. Never before had a game made me see and FEEL the result of my actions quite like that. That night I saw what living in the zone truly looked and felt like. That night S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC became one my favorite games of all time.
I wish i could play stalker for the first time again. I wish i could be so scared and clueless of the misteries of the zone again, to feel the harshness of the zone heavilly pushing down my desperate shoulders for the first time. To really feel again how hard it would be for me to complete contracts with the starter shitty gear, calculating every shot so i would not fail and get killed. All this hopelessness would fade away at the end of the day as i would relax at a campfire with my comrades, telling stories and drinking vodka. I miss this feeling...
I will never forget that day, ambushed by Duty in all directions and there were only 6 of us but we fought like a hundred. Lethal, Softy, Beanpole, Baboon, and Harsh RIP
I once went into a military base with 8 men came out with 2 me and one loner. what I would give to save them would be insurmountable. I know it sounds silly but I cried over each of my comrades deaths as we were picked off one by one by monolith that showed up. its a shame. good hunting stalker.
I'm not sure why I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It could be because of my long lasting chronic depression, my hopelessness, or the feeling that I'm just an insignificant person, who Is almost unnoticeable.

My dreams may have changed after graduating high school but this song definitely still carried me through till the end

And i was thinking about that comment and theres that came to my mind:
Man sitting in the kitchen by the table wheres bottle of vodka, pack of red marlboro and a PM (Makarovs pistol). His holdings his head (Like the guy on a video) and thinking about what he done and having flashbacks where he and his mate having good and bad times together. As the string on guitar start's hitting high notes 1:08 every hit makes a flash in his eyes, like he drinking with his mate, and then second hit, his laughing on a joke told by his mate, the third hit and there a scene where him and his mate being robbed by the bandits and the main guy being shot by bandits, forth hit and man laying on the bed and his mate sitting next to him worring about him (And the next hit's you need to imagin by yourself to the time where his shooting his mate over a artifact). 2:19 theres another flashing but it's about timeline where his leaving the Zone, first hit his packing his stuff, second hit and his in a border giving cash to guards to leave the Zone, third hit and theres his depressed and full of sadnes and tears eyes, (As allways the rest hits you need to imagen by yourself) and by last hit his taking PM from the table and shoot himself truth the mouth and after that theres just instant black screen.
If only i had a good pc to animate this but only i can do it's just write my scenario here so people can watch it in theyr minds. And mabe someone will see this and animate it. If i have some gramma errors fill free to correct me and i will edit the comment. Good hunting stalkers
