I love that generation of GM trucks. My Silverado is in the 260,000 mile range and still does everything I ask it to. I wish mine was a 2500 but my1500 was available for the right price so I took out the hurt 4L60E, installed an 80E and haven't looked back. This will sound strange, but I had some weird electrical problems when I bought mine 10 plus years ago and I ended up replacing the under hood fuse panel with one from a lower mile wrecked truck. When I bought mine the alternator had been replaced along with the battery. After much troubleshooting I swapped fuse panels with one I had on the shelf and it's been perfect ever since. I never found anything visibly wrong with the other panel but all the electrical problems went away after the swap.
