Hello everyone,
In todays video you can see how to repair alternator for hyundai santa fe,
Trajet tuscon,they also fit kia's like carens,cerato,sportage.
These alternators fit all santa fe-s manufactured after 2003 with diesel engines.
I made this vedeo because new alternator for one of these can cost up to 500 EURO,
and the repair is quick and easy.

Hi there, what are the symptoms of this fault? except the obvious battery not charging lol! my 2.0crdi isn't charging when the car is idling, but once you rev it then it charges fine, do you think this will be the problem? alternator is 37300 27021

Hello Sir, thanks for your video, very instructive. I would want to repair my alternator that I just unmounted. Your online shop is no longer available, please do you know where I can find these parts in europe ? Do anyone have a clue about this please ?
It's important to keep the wires that are soldered free from grease and dirt and use a a hot soldering iron, for a good soldering joint. My guess is, to use 60/40 solder that has flux in it. Checking the continuity and ground faults of the stator and rotor windings is important.
The seal for santa fe vacuum pipe - id16 od39 thickness 7- is spot on!

I have a 100 watt one and some of those Japanese units give me headache.
They use semi-silver solder which has a very high melting point.
What i do is to clean the point where I want it to melt,and apply some flux on it,it helps all the time.
Thank you man for this video. Three days ago my car battery went flat while I was on the road with my family. I jumped started the engine but the battery was flat and wasn't recharging. I assumed it was the alternator. I drove for a couple of miles and the engine stopped again . jump started it again only to drive for another half a mile and the engine stopped running again. I had the car towed to my home recharged the battery over night and got a metre and checked the voltage which showed 12 v with nothing else on except the engine running . but when I turned all the lights radio and everything on it showed 11.77 v and was going down. So I started looking to by a new alternator.
While searching on line I came across your video. And man you are saving me £ 200 . your instructions on how to repair the alternator are very easy to follow. I am not a mechanic but I'm 100% confident I can repair it. I'll remember you every time I start my car in the morning to go to work. Thank you so much. I just have one question please if you don't mind. What could be the reason my alternator broke. I don't want to fix it and it breaks again due to a fault in the electrical system of my car. I have just replaced my car battery. But the one I had was going flat all the time it was very old and I was advised to replace it. I thought that is what broke my alternator. Thank you so much.

the light keep coming on an off. the alternator stops working some times and it starts working after a while . what that could be . does it mean that the alternator needs replacement

My 2002 Hyundai 1.3 Accent. (looks same inside as the video) I stripped it apart and i tryed to remove what u did. But my soldering iron is 40Watt Pen Style and it will not melt the solder on the unit. :(
so I have just discovered that my alternator is different to the one in the vide :( my stator wires actually go left to right 2 wires, 4 wires, 2 wires and 2 wires without a group of 4 on its own to fit in the slot... help! my original rectifier assembly also is different. if you look at the bottom with the diodes at the top of the arch it goes diode space diode diode... I also have a spare alternator that is the same. . my guess is perhaps it has been changed before to aftermarket but I can't be certain
yes they are definitely different. my only hope is you possess/know of the alternative type otherwise I am screwed.

On my oil pump (Santa Fe 2.0 CRDi 2002) I have a leak.
I am planing to change shaft seals on the pump.
Are this seals standard?

Hi.
In the Santa Fe the seal is in the pump,not in the alternator like in most vehicles.
I know the seals are available to me but I never kept them,because never needed one.

Wow, you make a great detailed video. Thanks. wonder how close this is to a 05 hyundai sonata. My neighbors is loosing the ability to keep up the voltage with all the things running like the lights and the fan and full speed. Was running at 14.06 volts but after it warmed up went down to 13.2 and even 12.6 or so. When I would rev the engine it would not always increase the voltage. Hope we can get the rebuild kit for it. Thanks so much.

Yep a new assembly gives you reliability, if you had just replaced the diode then later one of the others may have failed as they are all in a similar state.
