I agree that the new 2021 Kia Sorento looks miles better than the refreshed 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe however, the Santa Fe gets features such as Heads Up Display, Memory Seats, Homelink, Interior Ambient Lighting, heated rear seats, second row manual sunshades, smart park, digital key, and laminated driver and passenger windows in the US.
@@TheChosenYuan Same price fully loaded? What's crazy is that all those features you described are for a refreshed (heavily) Santa Fe to keep it competitive in the later years of its model cycle. Best Sorento review yet! I just purchased the S trim yesterday. I wanted the EX , white ext., grey interior with captain's seats and sunroof--but it's a rare color combo. I bought the white ext. with black leatherette, sunroof, and 2nd row bench--a compromise, but has everything I need.

Good review Lauren. I’m strongly considering the top end Sorento next year. The one thing that concerns me (and it’s huge!) is the switch from the 3.3 v6 to a all 4 cylinder lineup. The 6 has a sold reputation of durability where Hyundai/Kia track record with their 4’s have been very spotty. These are newer designs so the history isn’t for durability isn’t there. I like the power of the 2.5 turbo but again worry about the durability, warranty not withstanding. What’s your opinion on the smart stream 2.5 turbo?
The new 2.5L turbo engine is also in the Stinger and so far has a reliable history. Maintenance is key to any engine. I prefer full synthetic oils for the best lubrication.
Wish they maintained the driver thigh extender, rear seat warmers, and hood struts. My pet peeve is hood posts vs struts. You’re right, safety shouldn’t cost extra. I think saving lives is a bit more important. How much are all these car manufacturers saving not including hood struts? My wife drives the last gen SXL and the naturally aspirated V6 shifts really well and the cabin is quiet. I’ll take the quiet cabin over a little better handling. For now we’re not going to run out and buy one.
Nice review. I bought the same vehicle you’re showing. I traded my 2020 RDX and I’m very happy with the Sorento. I just purchased my 3rd Sorento(this exact model) last month. First was a 2013, and then 2016. I really wanted the telluride SX Nightfall but out of my budget, and there were a few things i was ok with not getting it. To me the new infotainment and tech set up and looks which was a 360 degree look from my last model and to me looks better than the telluride infotainment (looks dated)and dash display. The Sorento been around for awhile and is already established. No kids, so I honestly could do without the larger seating area in the third row, but could have used the extra storage from the telluride. Same size tires, better gas mileage and more torque. The few things that the Sorento doesn’t have that the Telluride has that i would have liked was the HUD, but not sure if it works just with its ownNavigation System, or with Apple CarPlay, multizone climate control, but like i said the back seats will mostly be empty for maybe once a year so doesn’t matter. I would’ve loved the rear window curtains(which was on my 2016 model) to block out prying eyes, programmable driver seats, and the rain sensing windshield wipers. But i will take the digital dash over the HUD, the infotainment system over the Multizone climate control, and shifter paddles over the rear window curtains.(to be honest I don’t know when i would use them, but do look, nice)I do have nice roof rails compared to rain sensing wipers. I only wanted a 360 camera, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking in my next car and ended up receiving a plethora of other goodies purchasing this vehicle. I think the telluride front grill could have a larger opening, infotainment could have a better upgrade so after really thinking about it I’m very happy with my 2021 Sorento.

That's a strange comparison. I watch a lot of car reviewers and her style reminds me more of Alex On Autos with a similar matter of fact approach (but more efficient/eloquent; Alex just seems quite wordy at times, while Lauren wastes like literally no words; she really has a gift) or Sofyan from Redline Reviews, and Forrest from Forrest Reviews. All of them excellent. She deserves way more views and subscribers than she has... EVs (which includes BEVs and PHEVs) are currently limited to about 3 million units produced a year because of bottlenecks in battery production and technology. About half of those 3 million units end up just in China and of the roughly 700,000 that go to the US, about half of those end up just in California. Other states don't have the charging infrastructure developed to support mass electrification, nor do they use much renewable electricity. There are other constraints like the reduction of government subsidies (particularly in the US) which make EVs less competitive in price albeit not in performance, where EVs are clearly the superior technology. Meanwhile, there are almost 100 million ICE vehicles produced every year and almost 1.4 billion ICE vehicles currently on the road compared to less than 10 million BEVs. Less than 7% of vehicles on the road are newer than 1 year (new vehicles) and less than 3% of that small number are BEVs. But if you factor in older vehicles, and ICE vehicles are lasting longer, much longer, easily up to 20 years, BEVs make up well under 1% of all vehicles on the road, the aforementioned 10 million out of 1.4+ billion vehicles. There are going to be be about 3 billion more drivers in the next 50 years due to the modernization of entire continents like Africa, especially, and South America and entire regions like South and Southeast Asia as well as the inevitable population growth doubling or more in these areas. What are they going to drive? We're going to need at least 10 BILLION more personal vehicles over the next 50 years. There is no way BEVs alone can meet that demand. There isn't enough convertible raw materials or the production capacity. The demise of the ICE is overblown. Countries can ban ICE vehicles in the next 20 years, but good luck with enforcing that. It will be over 50 years easily or beyond the lifetimes of most current buyers of BEVs, before the BEV will become the dominant vehicle type sold in the world, let alone the dominant vehicle on the road...
I see reviews from others with DCT in KIA and Hyundai they DCT is burning out at 30K mile. They say that the transmission begins to slip like you are a teenager learning to drive a stick. A lot of reviewer say the dealership won’t replace the transmission if it slips periodically. So after 30k mikes you have to live with a slipping transmission. Also this is not an off road vehicle it overheats if you overuse the AWD. This is a grocery grabber or pavement princess at best. The telluride has a standard automatic less risk.
@@morrilp There are advantages and disadvantages to every type of transmission. The good news is Kia offer the traditional transmission if that's what you prefer. Hondas, for example, use continuously variable transmission (CVT), but again, they have limitations too. Just don't push them beyond their design limit. Most will shut off when they start to overheat to prevent any damage.
I just purchased my 2021 Kia Sorento S 2.5 turbo and it does not have lane changing cameras nor does the gages change color when I switch modes, in fact none of the models on the lot had those functions. This was interesting to see. All in all the car is the best one we have owned yet, had Mazda 3 back in 2013 Hyundai Sonata sport 2011 jeep Cherokee 2018 and not one compared to this sorento
@@krane15 more surprising because this is Canadas line America does not offer these specs on their vehicles so I was more i awww at the fact that Canada’s line were better.
I really love this car. It will be next car. Currently I have an Tesla Model 3 but I need a SUV as we now have a large dog. This Kia is deffinitly my favorite! Can't wait to order it. 👍🏻😎
First, the Toyota Highlander is not its competitor. And second, no it not as reliable, but is has a longer warranty. It also gets better fuel economy. One of the best in its class.
Kia offers a lot of USB ports which is great. But they really need to update them to USB C so they don't almost immediately become obsolete. They also should replace the 12v with a standard household outlet for charge tables and other handheld devices. Especially since they don't offer any rear seat entertainment system. I agree it would have been a nice touch for the center console to have a charging port and a light. From what I can tell, none of these compartments have lining so be prepared for rattling. One thing that I really find annoying is whey the cell phone holder is too small for my phone. I have a flagship Samsung with a case, and always think how hard would it have been to make the space a couple mm wider? The same goes for the door bins. That are just a tiny bit too small for the standard water bottle. BTW, who says SUV owners aren't interested in performance? There are a dozen SUV that are among the fastest vehicles ever produced. Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. Yes, these are premium brands, but VW also produces the Tiguan R at the same price as this Sorento.

20:28 The reason new Asian cars use square cup holders is because all Asian countries have refused to accept American plastic trash for recycling. In the very near future, the US will likely phase out all plastic beverage bottles as they have nowhere to store the discarded bottles besides landfills and incinerators since plastic bottles (and plastic in general) are very difficult and expensive to recycle. Therefore, water, soda and juice bottles will mostly likely be replaced by cardboard cartons. On the bright side, your one liter water container is more likely to fit now, as square/boxed containers can hold more volume relative to overall space, or more accurately, they waste less space in terms of storage...
What is conquest cash? Conquest cash refers to a manufacturer incentive targeting drivers of competing vehicles. Automakers often use this tactic to challenge brand loyalty and increase market share. These are sometimes also called competitive conquest or competitive owner offers. Simply put, this type of incentive is meant to put a question into shoppers' minds to get them to consider another brand. It doesn't sound important, but the effects could be big if you consider a driver may stick with a set of brands their entire life. Leasing is an area in which conquest offers are especially common. That's because automakers know that lessees tend to be more loyal than most customers since it's easy to roll into the newest model at the end of a lease. Conquest deals often target owners of a broad range of competing brands. For example, Hyundai/ KIA offers a Competitive Owner Coupon on select models to owners of select non-Hyundai/Kia vehicles. Ask to speak to the sales manager.
@@CarCoachReports I have now asked 5 different Kia Dealers in the MidWest about the Conquest Cash Discount...None of them can find any information for this discount
Yes, conquest discount exists. Telluride doesn't have to discount, BUT Sorento hmmmmm! Palisade have a discount where little to none exist on Telluride.
That is an open question, options, mileage and condition are all fractures. Check what’s available at AutoTrader.com, Car Gurus and your local KIA dealer
The recommendations are difficult because everyone has personal needs and wants. You should buy a vehicle that meets your driving needs. So if you have a larger family and you need a three row. Don’t let anyone convince you into a minivan if that’s not what you want or need. The other factor to consider is insurance rates. You may find two vehicles that you really like and are torn in deciding which one is best. Typically insurance rates would make the different between vehicles based on replacement value and safety features. Let me know if you need more specific information, I’ll be happy to get you that information. Thank you so much for the kind words.
@@CarCoachReports I will be deciding between the two vehicles in the top trim. Insurance rates are not a factor. There is just the two of us with no need for the 3rd row but really like the captains chairs in the Sorrento. I am an avid golfer and like the rear room for all my equipment. I live in Canada so the AWD is a must. I would love to chat with you after your review to get your personal opinion on quality, ride, and tech. I think I have narrowed it down to these two vehicles. Thanks again Bob
No reviewer has done definitive performance test. Has korea embargoed exact performance markers? Top trim has to be quicker than 0-60 in 7.1 to 7.6 sec. I think it's 6.1.
What’s with everyone omitting the speedometer? I’ve seen a lot of car review channels do that. Is it because they’ll get in trouble, for insurance purposes, because then the car manufacturers won’t let them test the cars? A bit confusing because some reviewer‘s always show the speedometer
I test every vehicle with active safety features. The lane departure and active cruise control is not aggressive and works as stated. You have to get used to active cruise control if you have never used it.
@@CarCoachReports How would you compare the lane keep assist functionality vs outback? aka being able to keep you lane centered, not make a mistake and thrust you into a wall
@@CarCoachReports I mean the lane keep assist in the outback vs the kia..I hear the kia is better in the regard. The highest trim outbacks have extra sound quieting glass on them than the lower trims.
I’d suggest driving both and experiencing both of the features that we’re discussing. Try to get the best price for each vehicle and then compare it with your insurance rates. And that’ll give you a good conclusion on which vehicle to purchase
Great review, very impressed with Kia / Hyundai products lately......Well i was until the dealer forgot the O ring for the oil filter at the first change on my 2020 sonata. Side note, apparently the 1.6 turbo will run for 25 miles with no lubrication without damage. So says Hyundai. :(
KIA made at least one fatal flaw. They do not offer Driver Seat Memory on any trims, including the SX-Prestige. This is a MUST HAVE feature for households with more than one driver. Come on KIA...fix this flaw!
I thought the review was very good. I was so surprised to see a mention about the spare, great. Does the drivers seat have a memory function? Finally do you know if the 2021 Santa Fe has a spare, my local dealer hasn't gotten one yet and didn't know. Thanks
Ok here it goes we are looking to get out of our 2018 compass and have been considering the 2021 sorento and 2021 nissan rogue. We don't have kids but we are larger guys and like elbow room. We also like to camp so we need room for gear. What would you choose?
The new KIA Sorento is pretty impressive and offers a 10 year / 100k mile warranty. The older Jeep has had some maintenance issues. The KIA offers the best for your money. Enjoy!
The US does NOT get memory seats, HUD, interior ambient lighting, manual second row sunshades, 110V style household plug, or heated/cooled seats in the second row in the US. However, some of these items are included in Canada, EU, Korea, etc. I believe there is a factory/dealer installed option for auto dimming rear view mirror with homelink in the US but from what I can tell, this option isn’t going to be common for vehicles on dealership lots, if at all.
@@TheChosenYuan I just purchased a 2021 Sorento SX and I asked about home link, was told it should be available as a dealer add on but was not available yet.
This is from the USA. We get pre-production cars so we can give you full reviews on what to expect and what is available. I’m sure you can order the vehicle that you would like rather than buying whats on the lot.
That 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is a little misleading. That is their EXTENDED warranty, which cost $3,500 on this model. It actually just comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
The standard is 5/60,000 on the entire car. Then there's a longer powertrain warranty. Then there's an extended warranty for an addition cost. There's also a standard service/maintenance warranty at an additional cost. However, manufactures reserve the right to raise/lower their warranty at anytime. So this is where being an informed consumer works to the buyers advantage. The dealers won't tell you this.
C V T, automatic fail. Needs more power, although few bought or leased the 2.5turbo when it was offered. But the "styling" is more becoming of 280hp and 310torque now. CVT, fail.
Except it doesn't look like the Ford Explorer. But all modern cars share many similarities. Take the fake exhausts or the fake grills on the lower front bumper edge. With few exceptions, most of the cars on the road today share this basic design.
I actually really like this. Unfortunately it dons the Kia badge. I just couldn't get myself to buy one because of that. I know that's stupid but I'm not the only one.
If it's any consolation, Kia is redesigning the emblem for 2022 models. It might not make much of a difference. Kia's biggest problem by far is their dealership experience, both in terms of purchasing and servicing vehicles (mostly warranty work)...

Nice review of a nice looking vehicle. Not sold on that DCT transmission, though. Is there a memory seat option for the driver?
Yes it’s standard
Why is that surprising? Not all models have the same equipment. Some are standard, others are options.
@@krane15 more surprising because this is Canadas line America does not offer these specs on their vehicles so I was more i awww at the fact that Canada’s line were better.
At 11:35, are the front seats ventilated or cooled? Thanks.
Great review
😊
I really love this car. It will be next car. Currently I have an Tesla Model 3 but I need a SUV as we now have a large dog.
This Kia is deffinitly my favorite! Can't wait to order it. 👍🏻😎
Good choice!
Is this as reliable as tje highlander toyota and what's the mpg on gas model?
Happy New Year Lauren!!
Happy New year!!

Thanks for your insight.
I've checked with 3 different dealers and none have found any information on a conquest discount....does it really exist?
How much is the cost of a second hand used kia sorento 2914
That is an open question, options, mileage and condition are all fractures. Check what’s available at AutoTrader.com, Car Gurus and your local KIA dealer
Wow what color is that? Navy green?
Great video- Are you going to do a review of the 2021 Santa Fe soon?
Yes I’m waiting for the car to arrive so I can review it. Should be very soon
@@CarCoachReports Thanks for the reply- I really like the way you do your reviews over other reviewers. Will you recommend one over the other after ?
I just don't like it that the sorento sx awd do not have a spare tire. It just comes with a tire kit.
Excellent! 😊
What’s with everyone omitting the speedometer? I’ve seen a lot of car review channels do that. Is it because they’ll get in trouble, for insurance purposes, because then the car manufacturers won’t let them test the cars? A bit confusing because some reviewer‘s always show the speedometer
Not in the U.S.
did you test how well the lane keep and adaptive cruise control worked?
I test every vehicle with active safety features. The lane departure and active cruise control is not aggressive and works as stated. You have to get used to active cruise control if you have never used it.
@@CarCoachReports How would you compare the lane keep assist functionality vs outback? aka being able to keep you lane centered, not make a mistake and thrust you into a wall
The Outback has a great AWD system but their technology and insulation for sound is much less than its competitors
Oooh hell no.
I wish I could get a top trim with the 2nd row bench seat. What do you think the 0-60 time is?
KIA made at least one fatal flaw. They do not offer Driver Seat Memory on any trims, including the SX-Prestige. This is a MUST HAVE feature for households with more than one driver. Come on KIA...fix this flaw!
Two driver memory is available.
Are the daytime running lights always on?
yes - federal law
Have you reviewed the 2019-2020 Jeep Cherokee?
What Can't It Do? 2019 Jeep Cherokee ua-cam.com/video/vDxY8scM2uE/v-deo.html
I thought the review was very good. I was so surprised to see a mention about the spare, great. Does the drivers seat have a memory function? Finally do you know if the 2021 Santa Fe has a spare, my local dealer hasn't gotten one yet and didn't know. Thanks
It’s has a spare
Ok here it goes we are looking to get out of our 2018 compass and have been considering the 2021 sorento and 2021 nissan rogue. We don't have kids but we are larger guys and like elbow room. We also like to camp so we need room for gear. What would you choose?
The new KIA Sorento is pretty impressive and offers a 10 year / 100k mile warranty. The older Jeep has had some maintenance issues. The KIA offers the best for your money. Enjoy!
Nice job!
Thanks!
Are there memory seats ?
Does it have homelink ?
The new KIA dies have memory seating and Homelink.
How does the Kia Sorento compare to the Toyota Highlander?
They are not in the same league. It closer to the Toyota RAV4, Honda Pilot (Passport), Mazda X5, Subaru Ascent, Ford Edge, Jeep Cherokee, VW Tiguan.
What country is this version? NONE of the 2021 Sorento's in USA (Texas) i drove showed that "tachometer BLIND SPOT Dispaly" Thanks! BTC
This is from the USA. We get pre-production cars so we can give you full reviews on what to expect and what is available. I’m sure you can order the vehicle that you would like rather than buying whats on the lot.
You need the all digital dash that's only in the SX trim of the 2021 Sorento. Even the Telluride doesn't have that...
Mine has it. And it has wood grain on the passenger dash and doors.
Nice
That 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is a little misleading. That is their EXTENDED warranty, which cost $3,500 on this model. It actually just comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
Depends on your company - all new KIA in the USA offer the 10 year / 100k warranty!
Good looking:)
Very impressed overall! It’s either going to be this SUV 🚙 or a Subaru Forester. Still on the fence! 🤦🏻♂️
Is it have ventilated rear seats?
yes they are available.
No rear ventilated seats.
Wow Kia sorento Top up goooood 😍 👏 😳 👌 🙌 😑
Thanks 😋
Top up Kia Sorento goooood
What's your visibility score for the Subaru Forester?
it got a 9
C V T, automatic fail. Needs more power, although few bought or leased the 2.5turbo when it was offered. But the "styling" is more becoming of 280hp and 310torque now. CVT, fail.
Does this have a sunroof
ours did not but it is avaialble.
I don’t like that it looks kinda like a Ford Explorer.
But I’m definitely a Kia/Hyundai/Genesis fan!!!
I dont see Explorer. Its sooo much bigger and bulkier.
They are in the same category but the explorer is slightly bigger. Remember the new Sorrento is longer wider and larger
Except it doesn't look like the Ford Explorer. But all modern cars share many similarities. Take the fake exhausts or the fake grills on the lower front bumper edge. With few exceptions, most of the cars on the road today share this basic design.
I don't like this car. BUT, I would DEF buy it from you! lol
😀
Wow kia sorento goooood
Mid size suvs are becoming the modern day mini van with a sportier look. Get a full size suv or a truck if you don't want that van-like feeling.
❤👍KIA👍❤
The lower front is a bit busy! Neds to be cleaned up...
Love My Xline
Does it has Constant velocity transmission?
Kia like their CVts
I actually really like this. Unfortunately it dons the Kia badge. I just couldn't get myself to buy one because of that. I know that's stupid but I'm not the only one.
If it's any consolation, Kia is redesigning the emblem for 2022 models. It might not make much of a difference. Kia's biggest problem by far is their dealership experience, both in terms of purchasing and servicing vehicles (mostly warranty work)...
Don't care or want a 3rd row ... fortunately the seats fold flat.
understood
Bingo! Simply keep them folded down.
Hyundai Genesis has a lot of flaws. Hyundai is hiding and concealing its flaws. The Korean Genesis owners are suffering. I am the Genesis G80 owner, too.
I just got a 2017 pathfinder for $17k with 29k miles. I can't pay more than $20k for a car or suv. Lol
Good buy 👍
Cvt trans failures.
A nice informative video. but don't play a "vehicle" drinking game with this video... you'll need an ambulance :-).
You are right!
Should be in about 40 min.
Pure garbage high recall fir engine fire 🔥
Toyotas were recalled for corroding wires are they pure garbage too?
Meh, I want a Telluride
Much bigger and in top trim $7k more. I would then get Genesis, Lexus or Acura.
@@dominickwilliams3504 I would get the "Ride". A Lexus or an Acura would cost a lot more than that. And quite frankly, I don't like the Genesis GV.
Gv70 for me. But I dont want to wait 4 it to come USA. VW ID4 lease . Vw pays for 3yrs electric charge. The GV70. good luck with Telluride. Great choice.
@@dominickwilliams3504 great looking CUV. But I see too many Sonata bits in it.

Do I hear a little bit of Barbara Walters?
lol - nope
Nice...but. here all starting to look the same..
They do everywhere
This new Sorento is beautiful! It's just that KIA logo I hate. Their logo is so ugly.
You can always change out the logo
@@twzflipside Good that Kia came up with new logo.
We'll, it is a looker. But then again, so is my Ex. 😂 Not bad sheet metal for a glorified Hyundai Santa Fe. But it looks a lot better. Like the Ex. I'ma have to call that woman.
The Sorento is simple the sibling to the Santa Fe for those that prefer more masculine lines. Their underpinnings are identical.
Looks very Ford.
Please will someone put this and an Explorer together. I don't see it.
The car is just plain Junk. But if YOU are my sales Rep, I'm buying one!
Lol
Its junk because you say so, or do you have at least one example to support your claim?
머라는겨
So-so but kinda over overrated by some reviewers
Hyundai Genesis has a lot of flaws. Hyundai is hiding and concealing its flaws. The Korean Genesis owners are suffering. I am the Genesis G80 owner, too.
Is there a car manufactures that reveals it flaws? They reveal what's required by law, and you can look it up. Can't say they'd sell many cars if they advertised their flaws.
