- It's time for another video in our Shiny Pokemon Review & Fix series! After going through the shiny pokemon from the original 151 pokemon in gen 1, the gen 2 Johto shiny pokemon, and the Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet shinies from Paldea, it's time to take a look at Hoenn gen 3 shiny pokemon! Are the shinies in Pokemon Ruby, Pokemon Saphire and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire any good? Let's find out! We'll be reviewing all of the shinies in this new Pokemon game, and fixing shiny Pokemon that just don't cut it.
We'll be exploring the world of shiny pokemon, analyzing and reviewing the best and worst shiny variants introduced in gen 3. From awesome shiny starter Pokemon to fantastic shiny legendary Pokemon, we'll be looking at every single pokemon introduced in the Hoenn region.
But wait, there's more! We'll also be creating our own shiny pokemon designs for the worst shiny pokemon this generation, creating whole new shinies with unique color palettes based on feedback from pokemon fans for some of our favorite pokemon. You'll be shocked when we reveal these fakemon designs for new shiny pokemon!

My only issue with the change to Shiftry's shiny is the loss of the Red Tengu inspiration for the shiny. I think all it needed was a more vibrant red to really sell the red tengu look
Yeah I never read the shiny as being inspired by a red tengu, so a brighter red would be cool!
In defense of Kecleon's shiny, it's lore accurate: They're said to be able to change the colors of every part of their bodies except the red band, which is the part that the canon shiny changes.
Plusle's shiny really reminds me of Basculin's shiny for both being so infuriatingly hardly different from the baseline to the point where you can't easily tell it even is shiny. If you can't tell I hate Basculin's shiny and that is due to the fact it was my first ever wild random shiny I ever found and I was very disappointed by that being the case.
I love how plusle and minun shinies look like the switch controllers (different color)
I quite like the shiny for lunatone being a reference to total lunar eclipse is cool and plus red really works for lunatone 😊

Find it funny that you said combuskin's shiny wasn't that different because Gamefreak actually changed the shiny in gen 8 to make it more noticeable..

I mean, personally, I've always found shiny taillow and swellow to be quite beautiful and frankly underrated. I agree with the others though.

Minun looks rad with that purple! Love the original shiny, but your change really makes it pop.
I always thought it was interesting that Minun & Latios ended up with similar shiny changes while Plusle & Latias diverged. I think having Plusle take on that same vibrant orange would really work, especially as in Gen 3, one of its big themes is "doubles/duos". While that makes them a little less unique individually, it'd be a cool choice!
Minun’s shiny is pretty good but plusle’s shiny on the other hand sucks
I really like Minun's green shiny but I wish Plusle shifted in the same direction and became either orange or purple.

Psyduck is the most tragic because it's shiny is the most adorable baby-blue but Golduck barely changes. I've probably caught 5 shiny Psyducks in my life, I've only evolved one of them
I like the concept but I feel some of the shiny changes don't work on the Pokemon because of the colors. Pelipper, Blaziken, and Whiscash feel like prime examples. Plenty of these just feel off. I feel like going with less drastic and more subtle changes should be key to fixing some shinies.

btw for gen 4 shinies, i have a potential idea for the eeveelution duo of gen 4. shiny leafeon could just change its leaves to fall colors while shiny glaceon could turn magenta (cause if vaporeon gets a magenta shiny, it would be fair if glaceon got one; side note, i do really like glaceon's shiny, more than the original palette, it does feel underwhelming compared to the original palette)

i think regice being very blue cyan saturated to reference the north pole icebergs is nice. the desaturate it too much so it doesn't look different.
great video! although i’ll overlook the sacrilege act you did by changing Surskit’s shiny lolol, one day years ago i was just looking up where to find Surskit and i saw it’s shiny and it was love at first sight i had to get it, fast forward to today where i have over 1200 shinies total, shiny surskit is what made me a shiny hunter lol!

Its strange to me that the community seems to like pink and purple shinies so much... I've always hated those shinies, because they're just SO MANY of them, and they feel lazy.
Idea for 2 shines. For dialga and palkia shines, make there shines the other legendarys colors, so dialga shiny has palkia colors, and vise versa

I've never really like the beldum lines shinies, I wish it was more like a green color like aged copper or just had a more anciant looking scheme to it like bronze, i feel like the silver and gold is just too intense for me

Blaziken was do close to perfection... But you made the body white instead of yellow and the hair got the yellow treatment?
Yeah I tried the other way as well, but personally liked it better this way. You're totally entitled to your opinion, though! 😄
I actually love Blaziken's original shiny, The beautiful dark red, bold yellow, and bright white are great, i just wish that shiny mega Blaziken kept the same colors and made the flame tendrils a complimenting color, maybe a blueish purple. But that's just me.
You know, Gen VIII introduced an interesting mechanic that was kind of a wasted opportunity. Some shinies had square particles instead of stars. They could've also made it so there's a second shiny palette, but they didn't.
Aron is really frustrating when you get it as a shadow mon in Go since the visual change there is red eyes so if you look away for a moment and miss where the shiny gleam would or wouldn't be, you won't know if you've encountered anything special
All of the changes were excellent! I wish Pokémon changed shinies much more often.

SUBTLE DOESN’T EQUAL BAD
Some shinies that are subtle suck, but a bad shiny can be the most obvious shiny ever.
Combusken’s shiny is great, especially compared to its Gen 6/7
Chimecho has a wonderful shiny as well.
It isn't inherently bad but more often than not it's pretty uninteresting to most people
Also they mentioned that one of the categories for judging these shinies is how easy they'd be to notice in a game like Scarlet/Violet, and subtle shinies are extremely difficult to notice and would be missed out on most of the time if auto-battling them were possible
I can't wait for my beloved Gen4 to get the PeriPatches treatment

My only issue with the new shiny of the blaziken line is that the wrong color swap was issued for blaziken, and personally I would use the carvanna shiny scheme on shiny sharpedo but sharpedo shiny is so disappointing when looking at its pre evolution

My gripe with castform is that originally, its weather formes had no shiny sprites of their own. Normal and shiny castform looked completely the same in their weather formes. It wasn't until Pokemon Home and the games moving to the Switch that castform's weather formes got their own unique shinies. Sadly, I do not own a Switch, so I myself never got to see the new shiny formes
Flygons shiny has grown as me as its my favorite pokemon but when i first saw it i hated it lol. I love vibravas and wish they would have carried the colors over to flygon like its wings
Your blaziken makes me think of white hot flames and I love it.
Bonus for the Numel, because the Camerupt line is a favorite of mine.
I wish they would try to Change certain shinies to have a bigger difference for overworld.
It it doesn’t even need to be a complete palette swap, because Tropius actually looked good in the 2d sprites because it was brighter.

Is it weird to kind of like blazakins shiny however It is still one I would be disappointed evolving the other 2 preevolutions into. I think if the whole line was similarly subtle there would be less hate for blazakin. It is very odd how different the shiny looks without changing. Like talking to a twin you thought was the other twin. so different but so similar.
Im not gonna lie, my favourite starter is blaziken and yes, i like its shiny form even tho it doesnt change that much, but, changing the red to a black would be way better.
there's some irony to you saying Castform's like getting 4 shinies in one; its forms didn't even have shinies at all prior to gen 8.

I wish shiny Kyogre's red lines changed to a different color. The red doesn't stand out very well against the fuchsia.
Mudkip is adorable in Pink! The color goes so well on him and the others too. Excellent shinnies! I'm excited to hunt him in Violet, i finished the 2 DLC'S so during my free time; i'm gonna looked for him 😀I will use a sandwich or the special menu at BBQ's cafeteria.

I wouldn't say Beautifly's shiny is more subtle than Dustox's? It's black bits turn purple and gold, and it's whole body shifts in color? Dustox only has one color change, from leaf wing to dead leaf wing - which I enjoy, but still. Definitely the more subtle shiny of the two.

Shiny Nosepass is well liked? Nosepass is one of my favourite Pokémon but I don’t like the shiny because it is yellow.
there is something off about brelooms shiny. I thin the yellow accents are weird for it. I thik people don't thin about it much as it is so similar to shroomish but they do hold it back. not sure how it could be fixed tho. maybe red? maybe white? i just hate the additional yellow and beige body together.

I feel like I'm the one weirdo out there who actually likes shiny Blaziken. XDDD I think maybe that's 'cause the main game I play these days is Pokemon Go and Blaziken's more saturated colors kinda pops in the game? I just remember really liking it when I first got one. Same with Whiscash. I think that sometimes subtle shinies can be nice even though they may be harder to hunt. However I am a sucker for black shinies (Rayquaza is always a 35/10 for me) and that Solrock was killer! I can be sold on black ice Regice too. Though I also think the saturation could just be raised more so it doesn't look so much like its normal colors or lightened so it's almost clear/white.
ive never been a fan of armaldos shiny. so many other fun colors out there it could have been.
I really wish Groudon would've been Brown or it and Kyorge swapped colors. Mustard yellow and Pink don't look great, same with Sharpedo not having Carvanha's blue and green shiny. Swamper should've been different.

I haven't watched the video but I would love to hear your personal opinion for them all. Do you have any deep cuts of differences you wish would have been the shinies or do you really like them as they are?
I'm not a huge fan of Beutifly or Dustox or Registeel's shinies, and I kind of like Solrock's shiny. But I don't have strong feelings about them, so I just went with majority opinion in the video 😄 The rest I pretty much agree with others on.

Actually all it does is dissapoint fans of certain pokemon, i don't need shiny ursaring to appreciate shiny gyarados and if i do, well that speaks very poorly of shiny gyarados, because it should be able to stand on its own without depending on something terrible to make it look better.

i rather hate the mudkip line shinies, the pink/purple is what it is but the accents being those shades of orange and yellow is just terrible
This is a great video, but if you don't mind I would like to give some constructive advice. From what I have done, I personally find recololoring the home renders instead of the official arts easier and they look better. That is probablly just me, but I wanted to say it just in case

and no, referencing another nintendo games on pokemons shiny would absolutely ruin the independent atmosphere the pokemon company has built over the years and would make some pokemon basic or straight up ugly. I rather have an original concept pokemon with its own shiny that just a reference.

Shiny swampert line SUX. Pink shiny forms need to be exclusive to Pokemon that are feminine.
It's OK if you're not a fan of pink shinies, though I personally disagree that they should only be used for feminine pokemon. I don't see colors as being specific to certain genders or traits. Plus pink used to even be seen as a masculine color back in the 19th century 😄
