As a quick rundown for those who are still confused Regional Variants are the same species that evolved differently to an environment. Regional Fakes/Convergents are a completely different species that adapted similar qualities. As an example, Dolphins and Sharks are 2 different species that adapted similar traits (Convergent). Land Snakes and Sea Snakes are the same species that adapted to different environments (Variant)
Great video and art Big bro! I recommend adding background music in the next video. Music in a video is like a good sauce on a sandwich or wrap, it just brings everything together.
12:00 I believe the scrapped Gyarados regional fake was in fact turned into Orthworm. Bellibolt also looks suspiciously similar to Chansey. I bet GF couldn't come up with ideos for a Magicarp, Happiny and Blissey regional fakes for those families, so they re-worked their Gyarados and Chansey R.F. into entirely new Pokémon
Since we learned that PragMagik is working on every Route 1 Dark Rodents + their Evolutions with foongoos_mon, mykemon_regions, an_artist_astray, and tub_az, how about we'll do the same thing? And since we also learned that Green Scorpion did confirmed Great Izuchi to be Normal-Type Route 1 Rodent in Rise (Basically based of a Sickle Weasel if we're not mistaken), I can get creative as a 1st example Don't get me wrong, the full Dark/Normal type are referencing the Stalker role in The Rampage. And it's evolved form, Suguchino (meaning Superior Bloodedge), is Dark/Ghost type while also a reference to Afflicted Great Izuchi. So a zombified Kamaitachi? That's a yikes for the Sneasel lines! Plus, much like the Pokemon-themed Bosses in Tears of the Kingdom what Bilsu Art has made, the Afflicted Monsters and Risen Monsters do evolved after exposing to a living item called "Qurio". Most of them do grant Monsters the Ghost-Typing while others doesn't. And they even have upgraded materials to defend against other enemies until they're dropped after being defeated by humans And in Suguchino's case, the pelt and hide are useful for nullifying Dragon-Type Moves. Perfect for demolishing Dragon Types like Hydreigon and Kommo-o. Like Sneasler, Suguchino do prefer solitude rather than forming packs due to the zombie-like appearance and killer rogue-like behavior that makes you go to the gun show. The spit attack has also upgraded to a chunk of corrosive blood. Rumors are told that a single chunk of corrosive blood can dissolve/injured a Gigantamax Duraludon in instant
I had an idea for a convergent Lampent and Chandelure based off of hanging plant pots, there'd be no Litwick equivalent because they're convergent Pokémon, the best names I have are Lamplant and Chandefleur
@@nathanblackburn1193 oh i really like those names for them. but i also think adding a litwick to them would likely work, perhaps as a clump of mud with a flower sticking out
@@PheobosDraws I just think the idea of a convergent pokemon having less or more stages would be neat, like part of the in universe reasoning why the two species are unrelated is due to the convergent one lacking an evolution stage, like how Poltchageist and Sinistcha are in reverse order to Sinistea and Polteageist
You have some really neat artworks and concepts here. My personal favorite from this video would have to be Melling and Cantaling, though I think I probably would have swapped their names personally. (Cantaling => Koffing and Melling => Weezing, to me, feels like a much more intuitive relationship name-wise.) That said, I'm not personally sold on Magicko, though I don't have to be, but Gyllados is an absolutely sick design I'd be tempted to at least try on my team if it was in a game, and I normally do not like the Cool/Tough-looking Pokemon... so you selling me on that is an achievement. You're clearly highly skilled at this and know what you're doing on both an artistic and visual presentation level. Your video's appearance is quite well-polished visually and from a sheer aesthetics perspective, you look like you have been making videos for years. I'd recommend adding BGM though (for a bunch of reasons) and watching your video once through before posting in order to catch major audio errors that detract from the video quality, like with the Djinx audio doubling, so that you can go back in and fix it before posting. But these are just things for you to learn from for the future. You show a lot of promise and I look forward to seeing how you and your content grow!
thank you! though i lowkey feel like you are giving me too much credit on the video/presentation part 😅 im kinda just still figuring it out as i go. as for the bgm and the jynx audio bit, im not sure what happend honestly, couldnt find any cause for it myself. But i did put in bgm for sure, where it went no clue.
@@PheobosDraws I'm too neurodivergent to do flattery. Is everything perfect? No, obviously. But it's clear how much care you put into making this as good as you can. Your effort shines through your work.
I still have a hard time buying the explanation that Tentacool and Toadscool look alike because "they both live in the samilar habitat and fill the same ecological niche" because it's not completely true. Tentacool lives in the sea and Toadscool lives on land in forests, in which case they don't share samilar habitat. It would be much easier for me to believe the same explanation as why real jellyfish are shaped like real mushrooms in our real world, where it's about the advantage of that similar dome-like shape despite the fact that their habitat and ecological niche are different.
I mean, same goes for Diglett and Dugtrio. More than anything they're based on the convergent species concept but idk if they ever Intended on actually following the actual rules for it. Mostly just a design gag i think
