I am a senior golfer with a bad back, who back in the day had a single digit handicap. For the last 10-15 years it’s been very frustrating not to compress the ball as I used to. Played yesterday and my back pain kept me from playing well.
I remembered what Erika said about a no hands golf swing as nothing I was doing was working so I tried the method she taught in her video. Wow what a difference!
I immediately started to hit drives and irons flush with minimum stress on my back. I got longer and straighter shots almost like magic!! Thanks Erika!

So is the video for very begginer golfers- just started in my backyard to understand the swing- my husband is teaching me - want to understand before attempting to play. I tried golfing 20 yrs ago and couldn't understand it at all - so quit. Now almost 70 yrs old, would love to learn so I have something to do both recreational and health wise. Thank you

I'm actually hoping no one in my golfing group watches this because, I bought her true swing program and I was completely amazed at the difference in my ball striking. I have always struggled to get the ball first and then a divot. Her lessons made this easy and automatic. I find that I still want to use my hands to hit the ball and when I do it usually results in a fat shot or quick hook. BUT, when I leave the hands out and use her sequence, I flush it. I have taken lessons from some of the best instructors on earth over the years, and while they are all good, none of them explained it the way Erika has. Truly the best $47 golf expenditure I have ever made!

I love Eric and his vast knowledge and his humility to keep an open mind to all theories of the golf swing. Solid. Erica I watched this video and was very skeptical. I will be turning 60 in June and admittedly, so struggle with speed. I watched this video and went out to the range with a 7 iron. After first, doing the drills that you and Eric suggested I began hitting balls. I hit about 20 balls and about 60% swing pace. At 60%. I was hitting the ball farther when I was with my regular swing. I found that I only really need to swing about 80% to get it and incredible amount of additional distance but my accuracy was incredibly approved as well. Very grateful that you placed this on the channel. I hope you have a great year! much appreciated!

thank you Erika!! i felt this today at the course, i started activating my glutes as i do right before kicking a soccer ball(which i used to hit it so hard) and let the motion of the body move the club like you said in one of your videos that the dog moves the tail not the other way around. i cant tell you how effortless it felt to hit every single club and even better feeling hitting it so freaking straight and way way longer especially with the driver. i still shot 84 lol but thats course management issues, strike was on today for sure.

I practiced using the love grip and took it to the course. It felt great. I usually use a baseball grip due to RA in my hands and usually play a cut fade with driver and irons. I hit some great drives and also with my 6i. My 6i is usually reserved for hitting out from underneath trees :) Thanks for the information and great video.

Tremendous lesson. I have tried having more passive hands; from watching a lesson from Faldo and especially Harrington. I have accomplished this a few times, and with tremendous results...but I'm not naturally able to keep it up over the entire round. I will certainly use these drills....and I'm checking out the offer later this week for sure. Thanks guys! 💯

I tried this and struck the ball INCREDIBLY well!! Basically, I relaxed COMPLETELY the hands(wrist and finger) probably a 2 on the grip. Swing back and let the body do the work and the loose hands grip allows the face to react instead of feel manufactured or manipulated. Very shallow divots. Was only exerting about 50-60% effort into it and still out driving my partners.

I agree that the two of you make a great team. During the pandemic, I discovered Eric's UA-cam channel and Erika's True Swing book. (I also read Ernest Jones: Swinging Into Golf. (Great read)). You guys are my favorite internet coaches. I signed up a couple weeks ago to Erika's Performance Golf and I am working my way through the True Swing training videos. All of this is great stuff. Thanks for putting this together.

He also mentioned he wish he had 3 right hands. He was releasing hard. Tiger talks about his hands all the time, that’s how he controls the club face.

Most of us amateurs grip too hard especially at impact causing issues. Trevino talked about the hands as a steering wheel directing the shot. He was so special! These drills are a good exercise.

It's interesting to note that another leading YT golf teacher, Tom Saguto, also stresses passive hands and a swing feel based on turning the body, tilting, and rotating the shoulders.
Though he is a certified Stack and Tilt instructor, and Erika is not, they both agree on this key point: those relaxed, passive hands, not trying to hit the ball w your hands.

  • @donaldschmidt2990

This kind of teaching has to unlock a superior swing. Because, shutting off the hands will force the brain and body to react naturally!! More with less. Sounds good to me.

My sense from taking up golf again after decades away from and delving back into my golf instruction library and the UA-cam rabbit hole, that golf uses both the body and the arms and hands. But it is primarily the hands and arms that produce speed. The body movements must ENABLE the arms and hands to move quickly. Also, comments from famous golfers, especially from Ben Hogan, are often taken out of context to suit the instructor's biases. It is the sequencing of the body and the arms and hands that is critical.

Ok Erica, I’ve taken all kinds of lessons over the years, mostly to deal with the shanks and fat shots. I’m a little worried about this being a wood (works only one day)§solution. But I feel strangely like this is going to work. If so I’ll buy 10 of your books and hide them in my house. I don’t want to share!!!!

This is great for air swings, I get a nice swoosh and it feels natural, but as soon as I need to hit the ball or golf mat I feel like I need to tilt more which ruins how free flowing the swing is. Any suggestions?

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  3 місяці тому +1

Interesting! Hard to say for sure without seeing your swing....sounds like you may have another swing issue sometime earlier in the swing that your brain is trying to fix.....I would find a great coach to work with in person or online to identify that root issue and then you can work on the fix!

Hey Jack! Cant say for sure without seeing your swing.....one thing for sure if you were hooking was the club face was too closed to your club path......the question is WHY?
      I dont know without seeing.
I would look at grip, wrist angles and arm rotation like these:

There are things that work for some, and things that work for others.
