Just a note about the corset, it might seem good quality but as someone who makes corsets and works in an industry that uses them a lot I can tell you that these eBay and Amazon corsets are NOT good corsets, if you want a "real" good quality corset you won't find one for any less than at least £80 - £100 And genuine corsets are listed as waist measurements, they don't go by small medium and large because corsets are very intricate in terms of fit, you need to know your hip and bust measurements to compare and find the best fit and if you're having trouble breathing or finding it painful it's because it's badly fitted and poor quality. Sadly this tik tok trend is only helping these cheap badly sewn "corset" brands when there's a wide range of genuine corset sellers who make amazing corsets that are not dangerous or painful at all.
Yep, and they aren't supposed to be worn on a naked body, back when corsets were a part of everyday life you would wear a shift (chemise) underneath so it would be more comfortable.
@@JesAmazee Timeless trends, mystic city and orchard corsets are 3 affordable but good quality brands with fun options. Then if you wanna be fancy there's some lovely custom brands such as misty couture, dark garden corsetry, royalblack couture and starkers corsetry who are wonderful but they will cost you a lot more as they're made to your exact measurements and you get to decide the shape, colour, design etc fully custom. 🖤
The corsets from Amazon don't actually do anything to your waist, if you are trying pull a badly made corset really tight that is what can be dangerous. Proper corsets aren't supposed to be uncomfortable.

“You bring the corsets We'll bring the cinches No one wants a waist over nine inches” This is the corset audio. It’s from SIX: the musical. I have a custom corset. They’re pretty comfortable. Basically a corset is like a bra if u r a big chested gal. You can get one for cheap, but it won’t be comfortable.
@@aseofhearts it's about Henry VIII's wives. They're having a concert and are fighting for the the leading title by voting for who has the saddest story. It's pretty cool.
Everyone else has already said the most important parts about the corset. But, the middle is actually the correct spot for the loops to be at. Makes it easier for cinching. We're using to seeing it at the top or the bottom, but middle is actually correct. So it's one thing it got right, anyway.
As far as I can tell, from watching historical costumers on UA-cam (so, not an expert here haha), corsets were not made specifically to cinch the waistline, but more to give structure to the outer garment and help hold up the numerous layers of petticoats/skirts a woman would wear (so the brunt of the work doesn’t fall on the hips). Most women could do all daily chores in their corsets, which is considerably more than we do today haha. “Tight-lacing” is what we think a corset was traditionally used for, and while some women did, I have a feeling it was the equivalent of a fashion/trend that we see on today’s social media. Even if a woman did tight-lace, she wore the proper chemise or under garment beneath the corset to make sure her skin was protected from pinching and chaffing. Just a little perspective :)
One thing I've noticed about these new cheap corsets is that they're really imprecisely structured: basically just a tube with some slight curve in the waist. If you try to tight-lace in these, you'll end up compressing your ribcage before you get any sort of waist cinching action. With an actually fitted corset, which is what women would have been wearing historically, you shouldn't have that problem.

Hi Soph, loving your videos! Just have to be the one to write a novel about corsets and issues with such tiktok trends. As i’ve been wearing corsets over 10 years, making them professionally for 5ish years and studied loads about them i might have some good points here. First of all, you can breathe in a corset even if you are tight laced with 20cm waist reduction. Yes, corset does make you breathe less deep because of the pressure around your tummy. Also we are so used to loose clothing it feels strange to breathe with a corset. Corsets are not dangerous if worn and laced correctly which leads me to the problem of such tiktok trend. I’ve seen some of those vids where people pull their corsets super tight super quick and that is the dangerous game. Think corset like a pair of new shoes. Very well written! I recently took the plunge into the corset world and am pleased with how stylish and comfortable they are! The one in the video is so shapeless and unflattering I cringed. There's tons of resources on proper sizing and seasoning and I recommend anyone interested in wearing a corset to do their research first
Yeah, Lucy is amazing!! I bought a "cheap" brocade corset (an underbust) a few years back: £90. That's simply what a fully boned quality corset will start at. And indeed: the laces are supposed to end at the middle and are definitely not made of satin, but much thicker rope-y laces so you can truly pull. Unfortunately I gained a lot of weight in a very short time and haven't lost it yet (medical reasons). Such a shame because I haven't even broken mine in, could wear it 2x 3 hours😔. But with a current 31" waist and all my medical issues, I don't dare wear a 24" (I used to have a 25,5" waist 2 years ago). Maybe one day I'll get another, or maybe a nice waspie. I don't wear jeans or trousers, but that's the beauty of a good corset: they look great under and over everything! Would be lovely to see you try a few different types, Soph. Maybe you'd prefer an underbust, so you can wear your jeans, a simple top with your own bra underneath and then the corset over the top to give it that vavavoom look! PS. And don't worry about not being able to fill the top of your corset. I personally don't like the corsets with a buste part, no matter their quality. They rarely look good if you don't have super perky decent sized and/or fake boobs. And because it's one size op top despite the " sizes for the waist you'll always have an issue if you have less or more than the given space.
I’ve actually been wearing the first pair of leggings to bed every night for a few years, since before they went viral. They provide a safe level of compression for sleeping, and the texture encourages circulation. I’ve bought multiple different listings, and the quality can vary greatly. I’ve gotten perfectly stretchy ones and those super tight no stretch ones too. The good ones are great! Also, the black crop top actually looked great on you, especially when it was off the shoulder without the cut out! Very flattering and cute!
You can never predict if a listing is good until you buy them, and a lot of different ones pop ip and then disappear. I try to save money getting the less expensive listings. More expensive ones can also be hit and miss. I’ve placed orders for multiple pairs and gotten different types in the same order. It’s a manufacturing issue I think.
I own a pair of those first pants, but they are seemingly better quality than in the video. I think they're very comfortable and they make you feel like you're sucked in
My sister and I have been wearing our pillow slides everyday this summer. We both have back and feet issues, and these are so comfortable. I can wear all day with no pain. I was not expecting that at all. Now I just wish there was more colors.
I bought these pillow slides from AliExpress for £7, looks identical. These aren't as comfy as I thought and these are very narrow. I am size 4,5 but ordered size 5/6 and still narrow. I prefer accupuncture slides for tired legs. 😉
Corsets do tie in the middle! Also you can get them waist sized from reputable retailers, you can also get fully steel boned ones which are much better.
i thought these actually looked really cute on soph!! the leggings - i get that not everyone is a fan but i thought they were really flattering on her. the black top - stunning! 😍 i’ve also been wanting a corset for ages so it’s good to see what they realistically look like - still beautiful!
Corset were actually made to be supporting of your bust and your back while working. The only time you would see tightlacing is in portraits, where you would sit for the hours and be painted and it helped to prevent movement. Outside of this tightlacing was very rare even with high-class women. 2) when it comes to corsets is they're something that was made for you. You get measured and they're were way to adjust to your fit and your shape. They were safe to wear, even pregnant women often still wore corsets. Corsets are made quite differently now, but they're not inherently dangerous. The issue comes when you wear them incorrectly which is what the grand majority of people do. They buy these cheap corset that are standard size, and they're hoping to tight-laced them into having a smaller waist when that won't work without your measurements. Other issue with use is this idea that you can just start wearing a corset for lomg periods of time. That's not how it's done. You traditionally got your first corset when your boobs came in to support them and wore them for short amount of times as your body adjusted. The reason actresses have problems is they don't prepare their body. When done correctly, wearing a corset is perfectly safe. This illusion that corsets are dangerous was actually a manufacturer of what would come after corsets, hustlers. Corsets were made for women by women, tho these male manufactures had to take altered X-rays and the rare cases of right-wing to paint a false picture of a problem. They then wwent thru friends to publish this propaganda surrounding corsets, so they they could sell something else.
Tip for corset lay the corset flat to un do the clasp things and then put the corset on, lay on your back so that to corset is relatively leveled. It makes hooking it a LOT easier
That last corset top was actually a picture from OhPolly! I have the top in a different colour from there and it’s amazing quality and would suit you so much 🤍
I bought a pair of those tik tok leggings from Amazon, they were £20 on Prime and they're my favourite leggings! I don't know if they actually do anything for my booty, but they're so comfy and go with literally everything! 😄
Tip, the corset strings you tie into a double bow once drawn. I wore corsets 10 years ago in my uni days and a grey/silver corset, black trousers and blazer were my go to party outfit 😅
Bernadette Banner has some fabulous videos on historical garments like corsets. I encourage you to check them out to find out more about corset usage vs tightlacing. The history behind them is fascinating!
I bought multiple pairs of the honeycomb leggings from Gymart and love them!! They are pretty stretchy, not like the pair you have but for me are extremely comfy
I never get tired of you … how ? You can talk about the weather and still listen … also you kinda bring my anxiety down so much … cal energy but chaotic I love it !
The song for the corset is haus of Holbein from six the musical the lyrics were “you bring the corsets we’ll bring the cinches no one wants a waist over *gasp* nine inches”
11:39 that's not true, corsets were basically just bras. However now that's kind of what they're for, but it depends. If it's properly made it's not dangerous.
I have the pillow sliders they're amazing 🤩 especially being 6 month pregnant. I got mine for like £8 off amazon but the ones I got were true to size, not sure if different sellers are selling different variations of sizes 🤔
Hey Soph, love your videos! Would love to see a video like this where you also test smaller sustainable brands making similar items (e.g. girlfriend leggings)! Obviously I understand that those brands aren’t always affordable for everyone but would love to see the difference and I know you’re a fan of sustainable fashion so would be great to see what’s available ❤️
@@sophdoeslife oh they’re great! Made from recycled plastic bottles! This idea might be a bit of a pain in the butt 😅 but maybe a sustainable fashion haul?
With the corset thing Song is Haus of Holbien from Six the Musical They were made to work the same as a bra, what you're thinking of is called tightlacing which is up to the person wearing them.
I just wanna talk about what ypu said about corsets they were NEVER supposed to be tight, they're supposed tp fit just right, same as a bra. It's just to hold, protect and they're supposed to be EXTREMELY comfortable if it's making it hard to breathe, it's wrong
It's not a TikTok ad, but I recently bought a tote bag from Notebook Therapy. I've seen it advertised loads on my IG and I really liked the look of it so finally decided to go for it. Those sliders have been advertised loads as well and I have been tempted to buy them but resisted so far. That black boob top you bought looked really nice on you when you changed the way of wearing it.
The sound that everybody uses when they try corsets is from the song Haus of Holbein from the musical Six. And if you want to know more about corsets, and they way they're actually supposed to fit, there are many videos on the subject. I recommend Bernadette Banner.
SOPH! please do clothing hauls! Like from plt, misguided, shein etc! I feel like those videos would do super good as it’s something different to your regular content!💕💕
I tend to stay away from fast fashion hauls these days as I just don’t need that many clothes, and when I used to do Primark hauls I felt like I was just buying stuff for the sake of it! 😂 But I will definitely do more clothing related videos ☺️❤️
The cloud sliders were sold for $1 US in a store called Dollar Tree in the USA. For $1 they were not bad. I like my Addis and Crocs better but you can't beat the price.
The leggings don’t have to be that thick to be effective. I think these ones are just a bad design/make. The design also helps to conceal cellulite on your legs if that’s something you wanted, and if you get the right size then they shouldn’t be that tight nor go sheer during squats! I bought some from Lift Legging and from Shein and they’re great, would never go back.
The black "bikini" top, Faye(Love Island) did wear it in blue, it did look nice on her... But of course she is bigger chested. So it's very different on every body type. But you're gorgeous as always ❤️

Do you only make corsets for yourself or do you perhaps do commissions?
I've bought all my corsets from Lucy's site
I’ve actually been wearing the first pair of leggings to bed every night for a few years, since before they went viral. They provide a safe level of compression for sleeping, and the texture encourages circulation. I’ve bought multiple different listings, and the quality can vary greatly. I’ve gotten perfectly stretchy ones and those super tight no stretch ones too. The good ones are great!
Also, the black crop top actually looked great on you, especially when it was off the shoulder without the cut out! Very flattering and cute!
I’d love to know which one you think is the best!
Can you please comment the words you put in the search bar? Or a link 🥺
I think they're very comfortable and they make you feel like you're sucked in
I love your testing overly advertised products videos because we always get a realistic reaction and I’m totally here for it💜
aw thanks! ☺️
So happy to see someone with my body type try these trends. Thank you for taking one for the team!
Dude you feeling yourself with the things that absolutely did indeed flatter you, I love to see it you are BEAUTIFUL!!!! xxoo
My sister and I have been wearing our pillow slides everyday this summer. We both have back and feet issues, and these are so comfortable. I can wear all day with no pain. I was not expecting that at all. Now I just wish there was more colors.
Love James mimicking Soph ‘the strings’ 🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant video Soph as always
hahaha thank you!!🤣
17:04 for anyone wondering
I bought these pillow slides from AliExpress for £7, looks identical. These aren't as comfy as I thought and these are very narrow. I am size 4,5 but ordered size 5/6 and still narrow. I prefer accupuncture slides for tired legs. 😉
I love that you found a G-string under the table and your first thought was “What has James been...buying?” 👼
Trust ☺️
So awesome.
That crop top actually looks so good for a going out top on you. You look amazing as always
Corsets do tie in the middle! Also you can get them waist sized from reputable retailers, you can also get fully steel boned ones which are much better.
Awesome thank you! 😊
@@sophdoeslife you looked beautiful in this one, a real one would be killer! ❤️
Omg yes love this type of content!! Pls do more vids like this
i thought these actually looked really cute on soph!!
the leggings - i get that not everyone is a fan but i thought they were really flattering on her.
the black top - stunning! 😍
i’ve also been wanting a corset for ages so it’s good to see what they realistically look like - still beautiful!
If you want to know more about corsets I recommend Lucy's Corsetry, Bernadette Banner, and Karolina Zebrowska.
@@scouttyra yes! Yes yes yes! I love their videos!
I'm in my 30's and jeans and a corset type tops was a thing in the 90's . It does look really nice as an outfit! ❤️
Anyone else binging on her videos? 💜
Hi love your channel! :D
Hii Val❤❤❤
:)
Tip for corset lay the corset flat to un do the clasp things and then put the corset on, lay on your back so that to corset is relatively leveled. It makes hooking it a LOT easier
That last corset top was actually a picture from OhPolly! I have the top in a different colour from there and it’s amazing quality and would suit you so much 🤍
"WHAT THE HELL IS JAMES BEEN BUYING?!"
that reaction has made my day
james saying “the strings” is killing me😂😂😂😂
Reason of discomfort for the legging pattern: Trypophobia is a fear or disgust of closely-packed holes.
yep those pants make me want to throw up
My first thought when she said that
it’s reptilian
My daughter has trypohobia from items like sponges. It absolutely terrifies her.
I bought a pair of those tik tok leggings from Amazon, they were £20 on Prime and they're my favourite leggings! I don't know if they actually do anything for my booty, but they're so comfy and go with literally everything! 😄
The descriptions of the items are always hilarious 😂 they put every imaginable word in them
I’ve just discovered her and I watched the whole video without getting bored at all💕💕 I really want a part 2 lol
Love how you can hear James in the background saying the stings xxx
This is the honesty I need! 👏🏼 can always rely on Soph for a realistic and honest review 💕
Tip, the corset strings you tie into a double bow once drawn. I wore corsets 10 years ago in my uni days and a grey/silver corset, black trousers and blazer were my go to party outfit 😅
I love that black top with the cut out under the breast. (First black top after the leggings) It looks so good on a smaller chest. Too cute!
Corsets are supposed to be laced with the loop in the middle and that is where you tie it. That is what gives the hourglass shape
I really like how she respect the privacy of her body, that really cool girl 😊😌
Omg the black crop top looks so good on you! And I LOVED the off the should look!! It looks very well made too!
This is just what I needed right now! I always get in a good mood when I see that soph just uploaded another video 💕
The black top is super flattering on you both ways you wore it.
"If you've watched my channel for a while you'll know I'm part of the itty bitty titty committee" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 fully belly laughed at this 😭😭 x
Bought my cloud slides off the actual website and they’re now my favorites ☺️
I LOVE the way you styled the black shirt over your shoulders!
I have those exact yoga pants and I love them! I find it so interesting how some people can hate something and other people's love it!
The song for the corset is haus of Holbein from six the musical the lyrics were “you bring the corsets we’ll bring the cinches no one wants a waist over *gasp* nine inches”
Been absolutely loving your content recently! Keep it up x
The third item actually looked really nice on you when you pulled it down and hid the gap!
11:39 that's not true, corsets were basically just bras. However now that's kind of what they're for, but it depends. If it's properly made it's not dangerous.
The song for the corset song is from the musical six it’s called the house of halbein fantastic musical x
The reason the slides seem small for a 6 is it's definitely in US sizing. UK size 4 is a US 6.5. So they fit true to size in US sizing.
The black top both ways looked great!
Oooh I haven’t heard of girlfriend leggings, thanks for the recommendation! I like this idea ☺️
@@sophdoeslife oh they’re great! Made from recycled plastic bottles! This idea might be a bit of a pain in the butt 😅 but maybe a sustainable fashion haul?
OMg I loved this vid, u should do more of theses soph, maybe like buying every add from insta for a week or shein testing and stuff like that!!
I think it looks better on you than even the original model I will definitively buy it because I love the way it is on you tkx you sis
I really like these kinds of videos
Especially because you're super honest in your reviews and it's so entertaining 🤣
the black top when you adjusted it to cover the gap was giving Sandy at the end of Grease 💖
Like the little black crossover top on you, & the bra looks like it does the job!! You are great Soph 👍
With the corset thing
Song is Haus of Holbien from Six the Musical
They were made to work the same as a bra, what you're thinking of is called tightlacing which is up to the person wearing them.
I just wanna talk about what ypu said about corsets
they were NEVER supposed to be tight, they're supposed tp fit just right, same as a bra.
It's just to hold, protect and they're supposed to be EXTREMELY comfortable
if it's making it hard to breathe, it's wrong
The black top looks AMAZING!!!!!!
Soph, you are so much fun to watch!! 💕
I just found your channel and I am digging it! I love your body acceptance and you seem down to earth.
Finally someone who feels the same way about the honeycombs leggings!!
10:29 noo having the straps off the shoulder makes it look so elegant
I loved the halter top. It looked amazing on you!!
I think the black top looks good on you! 👍🏻
Thank you for this, we have almost the exact same body type and I haven’t been able to find that before! So happy to be represented :)
Yay this makes me happy!!
"my hoodie is covering my dignity " best line ever!
They’re all so bad for the environment though and so unethical, such a shame!😣
An alternative idea would be a depop/second hand clothing haul, could even do a challenge to find certain themes maybe? E.g Y2K, 90’s etc ✨
I tend to stay away from fast fashion hauls these days as I just don’t need that many clothes, and when I used to do Primark hauls I felt like I was just buying stuff for the sake of it! 😂 But I will definitely do more clothing related videos ☺️❤️
@@sophdoeslife yessss! I would love too see that! Thanks for replying ahaha💘xx
The black crossover top fits you so well 🔥😍
James is absolutely hilarious 😅
The cloud sliders were sold for $1 US in a store called Dollar Tree in the USA. For $1 they were not bad. I like my Addis and Crocs better but you can't beat the price.
I love these type of videos! Would love to see more like this!
You’re literally so pretty.
“You bring the corsets we’ll bring the cinchers” lol
The cut out top looks beautiful on you Soph ❤️
The leggings don’t have to be that thick to be effective. I think these ones are just a bad design/make.
The design also helps to conceal cellulite on your legs if that’s something you wanted, and if you get the right size then they shouldn’t be that tight nor go sheer during squats! I bought some from Lift Legging and from Shein and they’re great, would never go back.
I think the honey comb is for cellulite. As for the models. They tuck and pin items for the photos and runway..
The black "bikini" top, Faye(Love Island) did wear it in blue, it did look nice on her... But of course she is bigger chested. So it's very different on every body type.
But you're gorgeous as always ❤️
You could totally wear that out for drinks! The crop top is super cute ❤️
