LODGE LIFE spring upgrades

- Welcome to Good Hope Cannery in Rivers Inlet, BC.
There are so many upgrades happening here! The guys have been busy with the new floor being laid in the kitchen. Everything had to be moved out into the cannery including me... well, I got to stay in the guest dining room which is a lot more pleasant of a place to be cooking.
The team pulled together and switched out a few beams under the cannery with the help of John Salo. Then helped the 3 generator techs move the new genny in and the old one out. Huge jobs!
Meanwhile Im comfortable in the warm "kitchen" making soups and breads, spending some hot days barbecuing in the sun and flying my drone.
Lots of fun stuff coming up for you to see. Marie and Harry went with Ted and Dwayne to the hatchery on the morning of her birthday, then we packed up and went to Wadhams for a beach fire dinner.
The flooring is finished and looking amazing and we got our first few days with guests. We also have the new combi-oven installed and I'll be using it for the first time tomorrow.

The Newfoundland dogs are beautiful. It brings me back to my childhood days growing up in NL. When traveling with my parents back in the '60's we would always stop at this one rest stop that had two NL dogs to greet everyone. Gentle giants. :) Thanks for another great video.

Good Hope is a private lodge who’s guests get invited up by the owner. If you’re looking to book a trip you can check out Duncanby lodge or Legacy Lodge which are both close by.

It’s a magical place but it’s private and guests are invited up. Duncanby is the closest lodge to us that has paying guests. Also Legacy lodge.

Was there a bit in the early 80's and recall a small sawmill inside - is it still there? Did you mill your own beams?
There is an old saw mill in the museum. The belts still run but we don’t use it. We brought the beams in already milled.
