  • Welcome back to Drifting South! This week we are in Nelson, B.C preparing for our border crossing. There are a lot of food items that are prohibited from entering the states so we cooked a lot in the RV this week.
We ended up staying at the Nelson R.V and marina for 4 nights and enjoyed a little ride on the Columbia river. It was the only open RV park we could find in the area. This time of year it seams like all the provincial parks are closed and most RV parks are too. Luckily there are a lot of pull-outs to take advantage of. Once we got through the border we found a lot of casinos to park at. Being ready for off grid living for a while is important if you want to save money by not paying for full hook ups. So far we've spent between $50-$70 for sites.
Once we crossed into the U.S we made plans to stay at Two Rivers Resort outside of Davenport for a night, then carried on further south to Pendleton, Oregon to stay for free at the Wild Horse resort and Casino. It was actually the weekend before halloween so there was live music and quite a few people dressed up which was a lot of fun.
The next day was another long travel day and another state down. We arrived in Winnemucca for Halloween and parked at the Model T Casino and RV park. There's a bit of a theme beginning... Casinos everywhere!
Our next stop was a really cool spot. Tonopah, Nevada is one of the most haunted towns in Nevada. It's a small mining town established in the 1800's with so much history. We explored an old mine, the haunted Misplay hotel, the clown hotel... that's right... and the abandoned cemetery beside it. What a cool couple of days before heading into the heart of Las Vegas!
Join us next week for the next adventure. Thank you so much for watching Drifting South and if you enjoyed it, I hope you subscribe to my channel for more views from the road as we travel further south and some really cool stops along the way.
Thanks again and take care until next time!

Thanks Danny! It is pretty dreamy but sometimes we forget how lu oh we are. There’s a lot of stress in the unknown. Especially when hauling a big heavy RV. We are currently just outside of Las Vegas and enjoying the heat. I’m working on another video now. Thank you for your supportive comment. We appreciate it!!

Jenny, as always, your video is eye candy !!!! When I trucked south, I tried to stay at casino parking lots, as they were patrolled and it felt safer. You left beautiful country and went into beautiful country.

Isn’t that the truth? Just more and more beautiful country to see!! I’m so happy you are enjoying the videos.
You are so right about feeling safer because the casinos are patrolled… except the one we stayed at in Tonopah haha but it was a small town and we were right on the highway so it was a busy enough area.
We are currently on Lake Mead and will be heading to Lake Havasu in a couple days. I’m hoping to check out the Hoover Dam today.
      Thanks again for your comment!

That was amazing video and scenery.
The one thing about the boarder is it is never predictable. Anywhere form have a nice day to tear your rig apart.lol.
Never volunteer anything. Yes or No. And look them in the eye. No sun glasses.
    Looking forward to next video!

Charlie, you are so right!!!! We were lucky to have someone who must have been in a good mood. You just never know what the crossing will be like. Plus the one we went through was really in the bush. Not a busy place at all just south of Salmo, BC. Thank you as always for following along. I appreciate your support through the past 6 months of my video productions.
I hope you’re doing well. I think of you whenever I use my knives.
      Thanks again!

Hi Jenny, I worked at wadhams on a victorian house we floated up from Washington state, back in 1985 , my friend and I finished the inside, we met Ted and Glen from Good Hope, we got pretty drunk with them at the lodge, what a beautiful place, one of them was the owners son? We spent a month up there, did a lot of fishing, went down to Draney inlet pretty cool place also, went over to Dawson, always wish I could have went back some day, girl you are living the dream, maybe I will come up and visit someday? I love your show, keep it up, don't stop, you rock thank you 💕

Hi Mark! Thank you for taking the time to tell me your story! That’s really cool that the house was floated up from Washington! There are only cabins at Wadhams and I don’t know the history behind them but none of them are Victorian. At first I thought you meant Dawsons Landing. They’ve got some small cute homes on their floats that they rent out.
If you were hanging with Ted and one of the sons of the owner it would have been Luke or Gage.
I’m happy to hear you enjoyed your time in Rivers Inlet. It’s truly a magical place.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! It really inspires me to keep making more. It’s funny how I feel less motivated because my videos views are lower then they used to be, but comments like this make me feel good about sharing my little adventures with you.
      Thank you!

I will send you a couple pictures of how wadhams looked back then with the house and the huge net house the old store on the wharf the whole town was still there, well 4 cabin's were left, also the hydraulic boat lift shed was still out in the water,, 2 huge fuel tank s sat on the top of the hill on the left of the cove, again I love your show, and I love watching you cook, I am a retired cook of 14 years, you make me hungry lol, you have the total dream job, never give it up girl, rock on!! Peace out from Shelton Washington ❤

Thanks again, Mark! I’d love to see pictures of the old cannery site. The boardwalk with the boat lift shed is actually still there but too dangerous to walk on. You can send me pictures to my email. Gordongoodhope@gmail.com
I love working up there in the summer! It’s one of my favourite places ever and I work with some of my favourite people too. It’s definitely dreamy. I call it my unicorn job haha
